Given time, The Lord of NO RINGS will muck this up too. The new wonder - Gaither (sp) has a couple of good games and he is now the saviour? Pleez............................

Takeo Spikes can land in Indianapolis quickly as he followed Greg Manusky from SF to SD. Now he can follow him to Indy. Charger's loss, I think. Not sure TKO will get into playoffs next year with the Colts though...

r81ders says: Feb 8, 2012 10:11 AM What a joke for SD what’s Norv and AJ excuses going be this year ?? They had no control of free agents …Go RAIDERS BABY and for you hatters I know we need help but at least we gave SD our garbage … ------------------------------------------------- And with the season, playoffs, division title and your head coaches job on the line the Chargers gave Jokeland an prime seat on the couch at home. Good job on building a bully.

So one thing the article neglected to mention was that this is a NECK injury. On top of that this isn't the first time he has hurt it. If he takes one more good stinger to it, he may be done with football for good. Not to mention when Gaither took over it was an obvious upgrade, the pressure on Rivers' blind side stopped immediately. Thank you for all the years of hard work McNeill, and best of luck!

Don't quote me, but I think the clause in his contract was injury related to his neck issue which he has had since they drafted him and in this case that is what is keeping him from being healthy. I heard this on a San Diego sports Radio Show

The Lions could seriously make a play for McNiell. Backus is a free agent and if he is brought back at a lower pay he could be moved to LG. If McNiell does get hurt again Backus can move back.

The Chargers are in sharp decline. Get rid of AJ Smith and Norv, hire a good young GM and start over.

The Raiders sign everyone's cast off and who was the genius to give a 1st rdr and a 2nd rdr for Carson Palmer?

Another money move for Diego, I think they are real dumb to count on Gaither for the long term.

McNeill will sign with the Buffalo Bills to monster incentive laden contract just like another former injury prone Charger, Shawnee Merriman. -------Buddy Nix

AJ, it's Eli. I wanted to apologize. I should have just played for you and your top-notch organization. I'd probably have a few rings by now...oh, wait. SUCKER!

Marcus had been injured alot which made it almost impossible for Chargers to agree to guaranteed injury cash...castillo can play but times up and spikes need to stick around...AJ needs to go

Dallas should make a move for both McNeill and Castillo - both need positions. Move Free or McNeill to guard, Smith will be left tackle. Castillo will get a minimum deal.

arbiterflick says: Feb 8, 2012 10:27 AM Other moves the Chargers should make are to re-sign Vincent Jackson, trade for LaRon Landry, and draft Courtney Upshaw. --------------------------------------------------------- No need to trade for Landry since he's a free agent. If anyone does sign him however, they'll be acquiring a 240lb musclebound cheerleader seeing as how he refuses to get surgery on his achilles and can't last an entire season

Shame, but might be inevitable. McNeil is by all accounts a really good teammate and high character guy, but even before he got injured he was having a pretty bad season. Gaither was actually a huge upgrade (for this season at least). Castillo has never earned his contract and they should part ways with him. Spikes can still play at a high level (he led the team in tackles this year, and his veteran presence is something this defense badly needs to retain). Other moves the Chargers should make are to re-sign Vincent Jackson, trade for LaRon Landry, and draft Courtney Upshaw.

Wed, 08 Feb 2012 14:50:14 +0000

Guaranteed for skill and not injury? That's an interesting take, players always want to go for the injury guarantee cause that's the thing they can't control. And guaranteeing an LT for skill poses no risk to the team - when was the last time a Pro-Bowl LT fell off the map? Not like a RB (Chris Johnson) or WR (too many to name) who can get a big contract and not really live up to it.

The Charger 2012 storey line will be............. Should the Chargers fire A.J. Smith and Norv Turner. I bet you are all surprised by my claims.
