Albert MaciasHave you ever been camping outdoors? Well If not there are many exciting incidents that can happen. For instance, you can have encounters with wild animals or climb mountains like half dome at Yosemite.Having encounters with wild animals can be exciting yet terrifying. Depending on the animal, like when I was camping at Yosemite and I was sleeping a skunk crawled into my tent and was eating my chips. Immediately I thought I was going to get blasted by its smelly explosion. But, the skunk was playing it cool and just kept eating like I wasn’t even there. That is until I tried to grab the bag of chips, it then turned its bottom towards me and threatened to fire so I let go of the chips. Then next It was time to climb the mountain Half Dome. Which was more time consuming then physically hard. Because I had to hike to the base of the mountain and it took hours from where I was camping. Once I was there steal cables lead the way to the top.I then I started to head back to the campsite and saw a bear eating inside of a garbage can. I immediately froze to avoid being seen and turned around and hid. But lucky for me the bear went the opposite way from where I was at.Overall, my vacation to Yosemite was exciting. I climbed a mountain, and had encounters with two opposite animals. So if you want to go camping or like camping choose Yosemite.[...]

If
you want to be a good cross country runner, or just get in shape here are
some
tips. First, if you’ve never ran before you should start out by only
running
half a mile. If you try to run three miles to start, you could injure
your
self. You should run half a mile almost every day Sunday through Friday. Saturday is a day to let your body recover from the six days of running. During week two you will be ready to run the one-mile. Repeat the process, increasing your distance by half a mile every week. Finally, after about two months of intense training, you will be ready to compete in a cross-country marathon.

Planning,
Expenses, and Budgeting! That is what it will take to purchase an item that is expensive. Planning is an important part, for a person who is not experienced in budgeting. First they will need to figure out how much the item is, how long it will take to buy it, and how much money they make. Secondly thy will need to take account of they’re high priced expenses; rent, car payment, entertainment etc. Well, also realizing what is a necessity and what is a want in they’re current situation. The third step is budgeting which is also an important factor in purchasing an extravagant item. They will need to give up something that is not a necessity for then to have. Then they can replace the money that was being wasted and save it. Finally, well putting money away monthly they will be able to buy they’re goal item.

Albert MaciasDo you want to make money or do you want to be a bum?I believe it is necessary to go to college because you can become more intellectual, you can make more money, and you can have a good career. Also I will be able to afford a house and a nice car.Going to college will make you more intelligent, because you will be taking all these classes like Math, and English. Also what I want to major in is Compound Pharmacy, which will require a lot of math and will make me more intelligent. If I don’t go to college I can never make a lot of money and not be able to buy the things I desire like a house, and a car. If I do go to college I could acquire those things and more. Making money in my opinion is one of the only reasons people go to college. If they want more money they will go and not just start work straight out of high school.Picking a good career should be based on longevity. If it’s a career like computer programming then you could be going back to school every other year just to be up to date and not obsolete. But if it’s a career like the pharmaceutical industry the need for medicines is not really going to change, because of the elderly and diabetics. Which they will always need some form of treatment through medicine.Overall, going to college will make you more intelligent, make more money, and will help you figure out what your career will be. Whether your career is a Pharmacist or Custodian just make sure it will be need and will last.[...]

First make the list of all common features that certain things share. State their similarities and then make another list and state all the differences these things possess. While writing on one of the compare and contrast essay topics, you can choose two approaches - one of them situational. It means that your compare and contrast essay topics have a form of situation, which you have to disclose by making the comparison and contrast of two things offered in this situation. Compare and Contrast Essay Topics - First Approach Below you can find the list of compare contrast essay topics which are based on the situational approach. YOUR PARENTS ARE GOING TO BUY A NEW CAR. THEY STILL HAVE SOME DOUBTS ABOUT THEIR CHOICE. THERE ARE TWO MOST ACCEPTABLE OPTIONS: FORD EXPLORER AND JEEP CHEROKEE. YOU ARE WILLING TO HELP YOUR PARENTS, AS YOU CAN BENEFIT FROM IT TO SOME EXTENT. COMPARE AND CONTRAST THESE TWO CARS BY THEIR PRICE, SIZE, PERFORMANCE AND MILEAGE. Compare and Contrast Essay Topics - Second Approach You can choose another approach for writing your compare and contrast essay. It is more complicated approach, as it provokes you to speculate on things and analyze them more profoundly, to make preliminary examination of one of the compare contrast essay topics and skim through the book in search of the necessary facts to penetrate in the idea deeper. This way of writing is more interesting, as it brings more satisfaction and relief in the result. It is considered to be more difficult as the compare contrast essay topics themselves are more tricky and intricate. Get acquainted with compare and contrast essay topics offered below and choose one for your essay. COMPARE AND CONTRAST THE CRIMINAL STYLES OF BLACK BEARD AND AL CAPONE. COMPARE AND CONTRAST CAUSES OF THE AMERICAN AND THE FRENCH REVOLUTION. MAKE THE COMPARATIVE AND CONTRAST ANALYSIS OF THE POLITICAL SYSTEMS OF THE U.S. AND U.K. Find two things to compare and contrast. You can compare and contrast two animals, two jobs, two characters or two stories. Take notes on your topics. Ask yourself: What is the same about both things? What is different? Use an idea organizer to take notes. Write a title. Be sure your title lets the reader know the two things that you will be comparing and contrasting. Write an introduction. Briefly tell your reader about the two things you will be comparing and contrasting. Write a paragraph in which you discuss how your topics are different. Use words and phrases that show contrast, such as however, but, on the other hand or on the contrary. Write a paragraph in which you discuss how your topics are similar. Write a conclusion. Be careful not to repeat ideas that you have already discussed in your essay. Ask yourself: What do I want my reader to remember? What can my reader learn from the ideas discussed in the essay? High school and college instructors two popular bands two athletes, coaches, or teams news programs network and cable television two computer programs commuting vs. living on campus two methods of punishing criminals

The decision to become married can be a wonderful and exciting advance on your life. Getting married young is sometimes a good thing, yet, sometimes a bad thing. Usually when a person gets married at a young age, their financials are not in the greatest form and shape. If one decides to get married and their financials are low, a job will be required immediately following the wedding, or even before. Also managing your time between work, friends, school studies, and your new spouse, can be very challenging in the beginning. Marriage can be a good thing at a young age because if you have children, you will be able to send them to college sooner than later! Once they complete college, they’ll be out on there out on their own; still while you and your wife are in their early stage of life. As you can see, getting married can be an adventurous and an exciting experience of your life.

David Romero ENG 71 12/7/06 Essay #5 Since I had learned English on my own, I didn’t think I would learn much from a class. However, I have learned more than I could have imagined. A student hopes to take something, anything, from a class; but since I had taught myself English I didn’t think a class about English would help me very much. I thought I needed to jump in and start writing “real” papers. What I didn’t realize is how many gaps I had in my learning. Any new skill is difficult to learn, but learning a language is a completely different experience. I already had a language background. I knew how to read, speak and write properly in Spanish before I learned how to speak English. The problem is that the rules you learn in your first language, the ones that are ingrained in your brain, are not necessarily the same rules in the second language; for instance, adverbs. In Spanish the adverb comes after the noun. For example, in Spanish it is correct to say “car yellow”. Of course in English the reverse is true. In English 71 we were able to focus on these types of rules. The mechanics of writing is very important, but one of the best lessons from English 71 was the section on confusing words. Again, I was missing the common sense voice telling me what sounded or looked correct in my writing. I even learned a few new words. They are still confusing, but since I have been using some of them in my writing, I’m starting to get that self correcting voice. This section was fantastic! It is very difficult to practice writing when you do not have an objective. This class set out very specific goals in writing and gave me a reason to use formal writing. Just the process of having to write made a huge difference in my English skills. Before the class I was very confident in my English, but when it came time for me to write I was extremely uncomfortable. I have become confident in my writing and know that I can do it reasonably well. Classes can be surprising. You hope you’ll learn something, in fact you want to, but I tend to be negative in that way. I thought I knew what I needed to learn and I was right and wrong. I am surprised by the outcome of the class and am excited about the changes I have seen just in my confidence. Gaps in my knowledge, I didn’t even know where there, have been filled. After some reflection, I have come to the conclusion that I have learned more than I could have possibly hoped.

For certain students, a football scholarship can be a good opportunity. There are three main advantages for students with a football scholarship. The first is that the student will receive an education. The second advantage is that the student will have the opportunity to improve their football skills. Depending on the type of scholarship the student receives, he may not have to work. If the student is extremely talented, the student may be able to secure connections enabling him to play professional football. If the student does not go into professional football, he will have a degree and can enter a different career. This gives the student financial security for the future. However, a football scholarship may not be the answer for all students. Not only does the student have to meet the demands of the classroom, but the student has to keep up with the football practices and games. This can create a rigorous schedule. If a student has to work as well, that is another added stress. Essay #2
In order to enjoy your vacation with children, you must choose a place where the whole family is going to have fun. The most important aspect to consider when choosing a destination is the ages of your family members. For instance, my family consists of me, my wife and our two boys. Kevin is three and a half years old and Nicholas is almost two years old. Last summer we went on vacation. We had three destinations: Knott’s Berry Farm, Universal Studios and the beach. The first day of our vacation we went to Knott’s Berry Farm. Knott’s Berry Farm has a lot of attractions for younger children. Therefore, my children were engaged, which made mine and my wife’s day more enjoyable. The second day we went to Universal Studios. This park was a completely different experience. The park is geared towards older children and adults. Some of the attractions we attended scared my boys. **The other attractions were inappropriate and the children’s attractions were focused towards older kids.**
Many of the other attractions were inappropriate for younger children. The attractions that were geared towards children were focused towards older kids. Due to our sons’ ages, our day was more stressful than the previous day. The best part of our vacation and by far the cheapest was the beautiful day at the beach. All of my family members were entertained, including me. The only downfall to the beach is that you must watch your children very carefully around the water; however, this isn’t any more stressful than watching them around the strangers at the parks. So, when you are considering a destination for your vacation, keep in mind the ages of your family members and the types of attractions that are appropriate for the whole family.

As a manager for Hollywood Video, I am given the opportunity to switch stores when there is an opening. There are many pros and cons to moving to a new store. I was recently given the opportunity to switch from my store in Buckeye to the store in Goodyear. When I started to consider my time, money, employees and family I quickly realized how switching stores could really affect my life. One of the first considerations is time. When I worked at Buckeye I was driving more than thirty-five minutes to get to my store. Since my move to Goodyear I only have to drive twenty minutes, therefore I save money and time. I can spend an extra half hour with my boys if I work the night shift and if I have to open I get to sleep in a little more. The hours of operation are different between the two stores as well. My new store closes at 11:00 PM. This is an hour earlier compared with my old store. Since I watch my boys during the day, getting that extra hour to sleep makes a big difference. Due to having more sleep I am better equipped for my day with my children. One of the first considerations is time. At my old store I had some fantastic employees. Unfortunately, I did not have an assistant manager. As in any business, the assistant manager can help take a lot of stress away from the manager’s day to day work. At my new store in Goodyear I was given an assistant manager. What a difference it makes to have another leader in the store to bear some of the burden! However, at the new store many of my employees are very young. Due to their age, they don’t always take their job very seriously and I tend to have a lot of turn over. This, of course, creates more work for me and my assistant manager. When I was first making a decision between the two stores I didn’t think the location of the store would have a serious effect on me, with the exception of time. I was wrong. I had thought that because Buckeye wasn’t very established, the new store in Goodyear would be busier. I was wrong! The area surrounding the Goodyear store is, of course, completely built up. This brings other options. At my store in Buckeye, it was the only option. Therefore, I have taken a small pay cut in my bonuses because we do not make as much profit in my new store. Our profit also affects how much money I’m aloud to spend on labor. During the slow months of the year, I have to work more hours because my time does not count against my labor costs. There are many reasons to consider when choosing a new location to work at. Time, money and location all need to be considered. You never know how trials and tribulations in your life will have an effect on you. It is surprising how difficult times can have a positive outcome on your life. I was surprised with the problems I faced when I came to the United States, but have been even more surprised by the results those problems have had on my life.
When I was twenty years old I realized I had bigger goals to accomplish. I didn’t feel as though I would be able to make the necessary changes in Mexico. So, I called my close friend and asked him for help. I soon found myself traveling to Flagstaff, Arizona.
My biggest challenge once I arrived was the language. I had no idea how to speak, write, or read English. At my new job, my coworkers would ridicule me because I didn’t have knowledge of the language. Instead of helping me, they would teach me the wrong things to say to people. I cannot describe how frustrating it was to be unable to express myself! I couldn’t even go to the store alone; I couldn’t communicate. Due to my language skills I was stuck in worthless jobs, going nowhere. This was one of the most trying problems. I had moved to the United States, so I would have more of an opportunity to have a career. I was stuck in many cooking jobs. I can still smell the grease like it was yesterday. I would go home caked in it. I knew something had to change.
The lifestyle in the United States is almost opposite the lifestyle in Mexico. For example, children move out of their parents’ house at a much earlier age in the United States. It isn’t taboo to educate children about sex and drugs like it is in Mexico. Food is completely different. Kids also learn how to drive much younger. I didn’t know how to drive when I arrived in the United States. Therefore, my friends had to drive me everywhere. At first, my friends didn’t seem to mind. However, the more time that went by, the more it became a problem.
As a result of the problems I was having within the first few months in the United States, I had to make a decision; give up and go back to my family in Mexico, defeated, or learn English, the lifestyle and anything else that I needed in order to accomplish everything I wanted. I am not one to give up so, I learned English. I was able to speak English socially within six months. I kept pushing to learn more. I did not want to be stuck as a cook for the rest of my life. When I had the chance to watch TV or a movie I would turn on the subtitles in English so I could learn how to read. After meeting my wife, my English really took off! She is American and only speaks a few words of Spanish. So, it was English all the time.

When you started college, did any thing change in your life? Starting college did change a few things in my life. The changes are not drastic changes, they are little changes. Before I decided to start college, my every day life was a little different. There are three things that noticeable to me. I have less time to sleep, I bought a computer, and now I spend less time at home. The first thing college changed in my life is the time I have to sleep. I noticed that now I only sleep about four, five hours or less. The reason for my lack of sleeping is ; homework! The best and usual time I have for homework is during night. I usually stay up till like two or three in the morning, as soon as I am done I go to sleep. But I also have to wake up early. So, school really cut down my hours of sleep. Another thing that changed in my life is that I was motivated to buy a computer. Before I decided to go to college, I really never thought of owning a computer. When I decided to start college, I thought it would be a good idea to buy a computer. Seeing others experience, like my cousins, I saw that a computer is very handy for college. So, I bought one. It has been really useful to me, not only for school but also for my own personal need. Starting school again made want to by a computer. Finally, the last thing that was changed in my life is the lack of time I spend at home. Since I started college I spend very little time at home because I also have to work. My usual schedule is; wake up around eight a.m., take a shower, get ready, eat, do some chores, around 12:40 p.m. leave to school, from school to work, then I get home around eleven or twelve. So, I am just about gone the whole day. Before I had more time at home. When I don’t work I still have to go to school, also there is always some where I have to go. Since I started going to college, my time at home really reduced. Deciding to start school again, switched a few things in my life. First , I started having less time to sleep. Second, I decided to by a computer. Last but not least, I have less time to spend at home. If starting college changed a few things in my life, I wonder what my career is going to do for me. Have you ever got lost? I have, when I was about four years old and it less me quite a few memories. My cousin and I were fallowing my mom. My mom was heading to the store, she didn’t know were behind her. All of a sudden my mom got out of our site, we kept walking. That is when we got lost. There a few thing I remember about that event it was scary, adventurous, and very tiring. The first memory I have from getting lost , is it was very scary. I remember not knowing where we were. My cousin, that was six years old, thought that she was going the right way. I was just fallowing her steps. It was in the middle of the after noon, it was going to get dark soon. The thought of walking alone at night scared us. Neither of us cried, even though we were really scared. Being as little as we were, it was really hard to stay calm. Being scared is one of the memories of when I got lost. The second memory I have from getting lost, is I thought it was adventurous. This experience was quit of an adventure, I went to some fun things. We walked a lot. During our walk we met some interesting, nice people. This people offered us something to drink, we shouldn’t of been talking to stranger even though they were nice, I learned that lesson later on. We also go to ride I a police car, they are the ones tha[...]
