Sorry it took me so long to respond. Somehow I totally missed your comment. Anyway, we don't use anything fancy just a cheap, plastic Czech nut grinder. Looks like there's plenty on the market for under 10 dollars. I'm sure anything that's specifically a nut grinder (as opposed to a combination nut/spice/herb grinder) would do the trick (although I'm sure Michelle's Czech mother would disagree).

How strange to see Edda Mastropasqua's name on your blog. She 's the mother of a good friend of mine from high-school and many an afternoon was spent at her house, cutting class, watching soaps and digging into a huge bowl of penne rigate al pesto. Her pesto is still my absolute reference on the subject.
