Preview: Taco Bell - $1 Stacker and Breakfast Stacker

Taco Bell's $1 Stacker and $1 Breakfast Stacker are coming out later this month (on December 21, 2017) but I was able to get an early preview of them recently. The $1 Stacker features seasoned ground beef, nacho cheese sauce, and three-cheese blend folded in a flour tortilla and grilled. The filled tortilla is then itself folded into a triangular shape. The $1 Breakfast Stacker is much the same except with scrambled eggs replacing the seasoned ground beef.Essentially, both items are tri-folded quesadillas. If you're familiar with Taco Bell's Cheesy Roll-Up, the effect of folding the quesadilla provides a similar experience although you get more of a crispy crust with the Stackers. Both versions offer a good amount of cheesiness with the nacho cheese contributing just a touch of spicy heat. The Stackers differ from Taco Bell's standard quesadilla in that the nacho cheese stands in for creamy jalapeno sauce. The egg of the Breakfast Stacker was fluffy and plentiful. Combined with the cheese and flour tortilla, it felt a little plain but you can add bacon or sausage for an extra 49 cents.I'm a fan of Taco Bell's seasoned beef so the $1 Stacker is definitely my choice between the two. The beef and cheese pairing is a very familiar one for Taco Bell but it didn't disappoint.Overall, both Taco Bell's $1 Stacker and $1 Breakfast Stacker are tasty enough but don't bring much in the way of newness. That being said, they make for a great value given that they're the same size as the chain's regular cheese quesadilla which normally goes for $2.89.Read more at Brand Eating! [...]

Oreo Reveals Fruity Pebbles as Mystery Flavor

Earlier this year, Oreo invited fans to guess a mystery flavor that they put out for a limited time. Now, they've revealed the Oreo mystery flavor as Fruity Pebbles.

Specifically, the flavor featured chocolate Oreo wafers with a white-colored (to maintain the mystery), Fruity Pebbles cereal-flavored creme.

Personally, I though it tasted like bubblegum but there you have it.

Taco Bell to Test $1 Cheesy Crunch Melt

Starting in January, Taco Bell will be testing a new value-price item called the "$1 Cheesy Crunch Melt" out in Dayton, Ohio.

The new dish could be considered a mash-up of a quesadilla and a Double Decker Taco as it features a crispy shell (taken from the Mexican Pizza) broken in half and folded inside of a flour tortilla along with layers of three-cheese blend and nacho cheese. In addition to the cheesy layers, the Cheesy Crunch Melt also includes creamy chipotle sauce and a choice of either seasoned beef or shredded chicken.

The $1 Cheesy Crunch Melt will be sold for $1 a piece or as part of a $5 Box, which also includes a Burrito Supreme, a crunchy taco, chips and cheese, and a medium drink.

The test starts on January 4, 2018 and runs through January 24, 2018.

As shown in the picture, it will come double wrapped in foil similar to the chain's $1 Mini Quesadillas.(image)

Review: Jack in the Box - All-American Ribeye Burger

Jack in the Box's All-American Ribeye Burger features a grilled, seasoned ground ribeye beef patty, provolone, red onion, tomato, hand-leafed spring mix lettuce, and mayo on a toasted artisan potato bun. These cost $5.39 in my area but I had a two for $5 coupon. The All-American Ribeye Burger is basically a slightly fancier and well-executed take on the standard burger. The ribeye patty was juicy with intense, rich, beefy flavor. It's complemented well with crisp red onions, fairly fresh lettuce, and ripe tomatoes. The cheese was the standard fast food mild, which is to say that it was creamy and inoffensive. The mayo was spread sparingly. The potato bun offered a bit more of a crust than your typical burger bun and was just slightly denser.Overall, Jack in the Box's All-American Ribeye Burger makes for an excellent burger with a delicious beef patty. Where the equally tasty Havarti & Grilled Onion Ribeye Burger layers additional flavors to meld with the ribeye, the All-American really lets the flavor of the same patty shine by itself. As to which of the two I prefer, I'd probably give you a different answer from day to day. I would warn against it if you like your burger patties on the lean side though.Nutritional Info - Jack in the Box All- American Ribeye BurgerCalories - 640 (from Fat - 370)Fat - 41g (Saturated Fat - 14g)Sodium - 850mgCarbs - 38g (Sugar - 6g)Protein - 32gRead more at Brand Eating! Taco Bell to Test $1 Grande Burritos

Taco Bell explores more $1 value options with a test of new $1 Grande Burritos in Birmingham, Alabama starting December 21, 2017.

The new burritos come in two varieties: Chicken Enchilada and Three Cheese Nacho.

The $1 Chicken Enchilada Grande Burrito features seasoned rice, shredded chicken, red sauce, cheddar cheese, and reduced-fat sour cream wrapped up in a warm flour tortilla.

The $1 Three Cheese Nacho Grande Burrito consists of seasoned beef, nacho cheese, red strips, three-cheese blend and reduced-fat sour cream in a warm flour tortilla.

The idea seems to be to stuff some of their regular menu items (namely enchiladas and nachos) into a burrito and offer it for a low price.

The burritos will go for $1 each or as part of a $5 Box along with a Doritos Locos Taco, crunchy taco, chips and nacho cheese, and medium fountain drink.

The test will run through January 24, 2018.
