Holly, that's some delicious flavor combination! And who can beat dulce de leche? I love the drizzled sauce that's dripping down the sides. I don't doubt that your cake disappeared at your friend's Easter event ;)

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for all the nice comments. I should have been more clear about my dulce de leche issues. Having it running down the sides was on purpose, but when I actually got to the friends house, instead of it being as you see in the pictures, all of that that was on top had slide off and pooled at the bottom, taking some of the frosting with it in the slide. It was pretty funny. Anyway, I would definately make it again with the dulce de leche, I'm just not sure I would decorate it in the same way. : )

There is definitely a reason that some companies make sugar scrubs that smell like food! Not such a stretch, eh?

I love the addition of the dulce de leche, yum!

If the smell-o-internet worked I'd be sitting here licking my monitor. My family thinks I'm weird enough as it is.

I made this cake months ago for the first time, and I remembered the joy I got from rubbing the sugar and zest together. I do it often now! Your cake looks wonderful and sounds DELICIOUS!

Holly, your cake sounds so good! I did the orange idea as well, but it looks like yours probably cake out more orange-y! Just a thought with the DDL, if you cook it down more, it becomes thicker and thicker. I have done the same thing, put it on and have it run off. But you can actually cook it down to make it caramely. Maybe something closer to that would work between layers? Nevertheless, great job and I am sure I would happily eaten a slice, gooey and all!
