Maya:
You may like jaggery if you like your vegetables sweetish. Try and let me know. It's a personal choice, I guess. Most of Gujarati & Maharashtrian cooking has a pinch of jaggery or sugar in it.

Sowmya:
Thanks for your kind feedback.

Shravan:

What a coincidence! My aunt always uses jaggery and makes it kind of sweet-spicy-sour (due to tomato). But I thought some people may not be familiar with sweetness in their subzis. Glad to know you too make it similarly.

Never knew this was a gujju dish. I prepare it exactly in the same way except for adding the jaggery and add a little bit of cumin seeds to the tempering, inspite of adding cumin-coriander powder. Just one fine day made it and started liking it from that time

I fry the potatoes a little bit after the tempering, so that they do not break and remain as french fries.

Wow, Such a nice dish Meera :) .
I am glad that i choose Bell pepper for JFi-VoW this month. You know i was about to choose other veggie, the nit reminded me of you having trouble in getting fresh Bittergourd, and then I decide to celebrate this month with Bell peppers. I think no one should have problem in getting this fresh at this time of season :) .
Thank you Dear for such a nice entry. Send it soon :)
