Automotive designer Eduard Gray has sent in some renderings of his ideas for the first car to come from the Saab purchase of Spyker. Based near Saab headquarters in Trollhättan, Sweden, Gray believes the drawings could land him a job with the Saab Design Studio Team.

“The union of Saab and Spyker presents a unique opportunity to create a design that takes the best of each brand and distills their qualities into a single product, the designer says in his website.”

Indeed, his six drawings of the Saab Spyker 9+ Tribute shows elements of both companies. Gray calls the work "a quick expression of my optimism for the future of the brand."

Pagani Zonda R Official Promo [Video]

The Pagani Zonda R is the Italian supercar maker's most track-focused car. At the foundation of its performance lies a 48-valve 6.0-litre V12 engine acquired from Mercedes-Benz AMG division. It kicks out 750hp (552kw) and maximum torque rated at 710Nm. Accessing this power is a 6-speed sequential gearbox from XTRAC which runs the big Pirelli P Zero rear 335/30/20 tyres. Front rubber measures 255/35/19. Together they hurl the Zonda R from a standing position to 100km/h in 2.7 seconds. Top speed is estimated at over 350km/h.

Motor Trend Classic resurrected, goes quarterly

We were just talking with a friend about his Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI. "How on earth did you afford that?" is the highly sanitized version of the question we posed to him. Answer: He bought used, and then explained to us that he would never buy a new car again, no matter what. A decision that's fine by us, but which buff book is our pal going to read if he's unwilling to ever walk into a new car dealership again? Meet – or re-meet as the case may be – Motor Trend Classic. The fine folks at Motor Trend tried their hand at this classic car thing a few years back in 2005 but were forced to shutter the magazine in 2006. But that was then (and they were trying to sell 12 issues a year. Correction: Motor Trend Classic launched with two issues in 2005 and then went to six issues for 2006). Motor Trend Classic every three months is now.The cost to entry is a good bit higher than your standard car mag (roughly three times). However, the new magazine is (thankfully) largely free of advertising and it features a unique format and higher quality paper. Hence the high price: $14.95 per issue.Also of note, Motor Trend will be using this weekend's Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance to relaunch the Classic magazine. Geneva 2010: Seat IBE Concept

IBE Concept, is the latest creation from Seat and will be unveiled tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show and is set to show us the design lines of the upcoming cars from the Spanish manufacturer.

In addition to the 2+2 coupe EV, the VW-owned company is also said to be working on a petrol/electric hybrid based on the next Volkswagen Golf platform. A Seat Leon plug-in hybrid is also planned for release in 2014.

The new Seat IBE Concept is a fully electric car and will carry a 102 hp engine capable to deliver a maximum torque of 18 kWh. This means that the car will borrow the same engine from the A1 e-Tron, set to make its official debut at the same Geneva show. Regarding its performances the car will be capable to sprint from 0 to 50 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, to 80 km/h in 6.3 seconds and to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. Unfortunately these are the only details available for the moment but stay tuned.

At Geneva, the IBE Concept was shown with a 75-kiloWatt (101-hp / 102-PS) motor that produces up to 200Nm (147 ft-lb) of torque. The car sprints to 50 km/h in 3.4 seconds, and 100 km/h in 9.4s. The 3.78-meter long coupe weighs 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs).

Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 by BF performance

BF-performance has developed a new tuning package for the Gallardo LP560-4, both coupe and spyder versions. Called GT600, the tuning kit adds a stronger performance.New body parts are made entirely of carbon fiber, and include new side skirts, rear diffuser, and a rear wing. For them, the Gallardo is too innocent and neither dynamic nor individual enough. Therefore, they turn both the Coupé and also the Spyder into the GT600 which has a stronger performance, more self-confidence and looks more aggressive. Optimised under-body aerodynamics is guaranteed by the side skirts and the rear diffuser which are both also made of carbon. The striking carbon rear wing renders additional down thrust. Its edged design perfects the design language of the Lamborghini and gives the Gallardo the finishing touch. The wing doors render a significant amount of individuality, but are strictly limited to Lamborghini models with twelve-cylinder engines. The new 2010 C6.R will be powered by a 485-horsepower 5.5-litre V8 engine and it will compete in 2010 American Le Mans Race Series.“Simply put, without Corvette Racing, there would not be a Corvette Z06, much less the ZR1. The second generation NVL Quant made its public debut in front of media yesterday in Geneva, bringing with it what NVL Solar, its creator, calls "a breakthrough the market eagerly has been anticipating for years." While this last statement is a matter of interpretation, the Quant does bring a range of interesting features. The most exciting thing about it, however, is the promise to turn production version rather sooner than later.Set to be production ready next year, the Quant was designed to prove "cutting-edge supercars can combine speed, comfort and enjoyment with environmental integrity." Geneva Debuts: Gazal 1 Design Concept

Fifty students from the King Saud University in Saudi Arabia worked on this Gazal 1 concept car from April 2009. It has now been presented at the Geneva Motor Show. The students worked in collaboration with Magna Steyr on the engineering side and Studiotorino for styling. Over 50 sketches were offered and the final one chosen in May last year. An Australian designer named Peter Arcadipane was called on to supervise the whole project.Every aspect, from styling and engineering feasibility to a running prototype were conducted in both Riyadh city and Turin where Magna has its Italian office. The prototype will be unveiled in Riyadh some time this year to mark the end of the project.The main brief was to create an SUV with certain classical undertones but modern at the same time. It would be based on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class in terms of chassis and mechanics.As for the name, Gazal is a reference to the very fast Arabian Gazelle, an apparently extinct antelope identified with the Saudi Arabian area. The company showed off the Tata Nano Electric Vehicle as part of a long term plan that will include a 2012 market release of the EV.Yup, Tata was working on the Nano EV and here it is. Looks like Tata wants a new tag – maker of the world’s cheapest Electric vehicle.The Tata Nano EV Concept car will come with a driving range of 99 miles and would take off to 60 km/h in just 10m seconds. It is quite a good deal for an electric car and it would be less than what you pay as fuel for an entire year for your SUV. The car looks quite typical to the Asian cars which have the box like structure, without cuts or shapes.The EV will first hit markets in Scandinavia and the UK while India might have to wait for few more years to get the same. Lack of proper infrastructure and no help from the government in the form of reduced taxes for electric vehicles seem to be the reason for the delay. The EV might also cost upto two times the cost of a standard Nano, which is still a great price for an EV.Tata told reporters in Geneva that the Euro-spec Tata Nano will come to market in 2011. HALO-esque Mercedes C.S.V. Concept

Hold on to your head because you’re mind is about to be blown away by this concept called C.S.V. (Cyborg Sensation Vehicle). Inspired by the Mercedes F400 concept, this off-road capable 2-seater is targeted to young adventurous professionals in 2040.

It’s pretty obvious, (thanks Captain Oblivious) what the core concept of this vehicle is just by name. Technology and organics are bound to merge sooner or later. Imagine driving just by thinking. When you sit in the driver’s seat, your though patterns are sent to the vehicle, thus becoming an extension of your body. There’s no need for analog controls.

The implications for such technologies means someday we’ll know how to interpret, map out, and respond to human neural patterns. If you can put that thought aside for a second, lets focus on the design. There’s a lot of F400 in there but the designer wanted to give the vehicle an organic flavor, hence the muscle fibers flanking each side, neatly tucking into a hidden skeletal system. The result is a design that takes Mercedes Benz DNA and evolves it into an organic object mimicking its pilot.

Spyker D12 Peking-to-Paris ‘SSUV’ Development On Track

Despite Spyker’s management reshuffles and purchase of Saab, the Dutch sports car company remains confident of launching several new models of its own in coming years. Already we’ve seen the introduction of the long-wheelbase C8 Aileron and C8 Aileron Spyder, but soon we may be able to add a new ‘Super Sport Utility Vehicle’ (SSUV for short) to that list in the form of the production version of 2006’s D12 Peking-to-Paris concept car.

The concept was originally launched at the Geneva motor show four years ago, but development had been put on hold in November following Spyker’s bid for Saab.
But Muller said at this year’s Geneva show that development would now be accelerated due to due to the facilities, parts and technology it has at its disposal following the Saab deal.

With this latest model, Spyker will be focusing on the East European market for the first time, as well emerging markets like China and the Middle East. Many of the roads in these markets are often in poor condition and nearly impossible to navigate with low-slung supercars, thus buyers have been demanding performance vehicles with offroad capability. One of the key reasons we’ve seen vehicles like the new X6 and the more recent Aston Martin Lagonda Concept.

Not much is known about Spyker’s new SSUV but designers have reportedly decided to change the originally planned powerplant from a Volkswagen-sourced 6.0-liter W-12 engine to something from America--with GM’s LS line of V-8s most likely on the cards, hence a possible name change to D8.

Aston Martin just released a new video of the One-77 testing on the automaker's proving grounds, meaning we get to listen to that 7.3-liter V12 being wrung out to max revs.During testing, the One-77 cleared a top speed just over 220mph, or almost 355 km/h. This speed is generated by a new 7.3-liter V12 engine from the company.All of which is very interesting, but there’s no substitute for a half-decent bit of VT. And this is half decent. The backing track’s a bit ‘royalty free, plink-plink’, but the there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the soundtrack coming from the One-77’s glorious, 7.3 litre V12.These horses take the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and up to a tested top speed of 220.007 mph (354.86 km/h) in the dry. Unfortunately, the company will only build 77 units of the Aston Martin One-77. The deliveries will begin at the middle of this year.Once it enters production, the Aston Martin One-77 will use a carbon fiber monocoque body. Geneva Motor Show: 2010 Abarth 500C & Punto Evo

The 500C show car is a two-tone model with half painted white and the other half in black. The 138-horsepower 1.4-liter turbocharged engine produces up to 206 Nm (152 lb-ft) of torque, capable of getting the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. This is definitely slower than the acceleration of the MINI Cooper S, by anywhere from 0.4 to 0.9 seconds, depending on the source. However, fuel economy is much better than the Coop, with the 500C using 6.5 liters per 100 km, or 36.2 mpg (US).

Right next to the 500C is the Punto Evo show car in white with red accents, which sprints to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. It featuers a Garrett turbocharger mounted to the 1.4-liter Multiair engine, which now produces 162 horsepower (119 kW) and up to 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. As an SS, horsepower is boosted another 16 hp (12 kW).

Exterior mods include a larger font bumper and a new rear bumper with space for twin exhaust pipes and a diffuser. The SS model also features better brakes and 18-inch wheels.

The Touareg will also be the first and only off-roader in Europe by a German car maker to be available in a hybrid version too. It sets standards among fully off-road capable SUVs with petrol engines that have a fuel consumption value of just 8.2 litres fuel per 100 kilometres. The Touareg Hybrid can be driven up to 50 km/h in purely electric mode - emissions-free. French concept Citroen Survolt became one of the most unusual cars of a motor show in Geneva. It is not known, whether can transfer photos all aura of this car? Probably, no. For Survolt looks rather abruptly. As always, Citroens designers managed to make something unusual (we and love this mark for it), and thus them concept does not look, how any misunderstanding. The car has turned out very integral and that the most important thing, beautiful.

When you approach to stand Citroen Survolt it seems big. But actually it is rather compact car - from a nose to a tail only 3850 mm. It even is less, than at Volkswagen Polo or Citroen C3!

With what engine it is equipped yet it is not informed. Probably, any. It after all concept which is not obliged to have a high-grade suspender or a power-plant not so. It should show, in what direction the mark in the future begins to develop. If in such as Survolt, we only for. And still we for that Survolt has gone to a batch production. Geneva 2010: Porsche 918 Spyder Concept

Porsche's Carrera GT supercar has been out of production for a few years now, and its numbers have been rapidly diminishing as tuners and ill-talented drivers do their worst. At this year's Geneva Motor Show, Porsche is planning a 918 Spyder Concept that looks staged to replace it, and though it doesn't share much in common with the previous supercar, it builds on its spirit with a huge dose of modern technology and style.

Powered by a 3.4-liter V-8 engine and a hybrid drive system, the 918 Spyder Concept could preview a new supercar from the company. We're not expecting it for another year or two at the earliest, however, as its 9,200-rpm, 500-horsepower output and 78-mpg efficiency are sure to prove difficult to render in production. Performance isn't hampered by the hybrid drive system, however: 3.2 seconds to 62 mph, 198 mph top speed, and a promised Nurburgring Nordschleife lap time of under 7:30--faster than the Carrera GT that preceded it. Electric motors on the front and rear axles contribute 218 horsepower to the mix.

The power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch unit, while the front wheels are driven by a fixed transmission ratio.

Drivers lucky enough to hop behind the wheel can choose from four driving modes, including E-Drive, which maximizes efficiency by using electric power only for up to 16 miles. Hybrid mode uses both systems in conjunction to deliver an efficienct around-town ride. Sport Hybrid mode adds some spunk to the system, using Torque Vectoring to improve the car's dynamics further. Finally, there's Race Hybrid mode, which pulls out all stops and maximizes performance of both systems. The hybrid system becomes a push-to-pass system in Race Hybrid mode, helping to boost power for overtaking.

A high-tech exterior of lightweight materials is complemented by the latest in Porsche interior design and features, indicating the car is in fact headed down a production path despite its current concept-car status.

Two other Porsche hybrids will join the 918 Spyder on the stand at Geneva, including the Cayenne hybrid and the 911 GT3 R Hybrid race car, which uses a F1-derived KERS kinetic hybrid system.

Toyota has announced that the 2010 Toyota Auris HSD, or Hybrid Synergy Drive, will officially go on sale in Europe later this spring. The car uses a 1.8-liter petrol engine and electric motor to provide nearly 62 mpg (US), consuming 3.8 liters of petrol per 100 km.The petrol engine version it’s powered by a 1.8 L and a 60kW (80bhp) electric motor mated to a 27kWh nickel metal hydride battery. Sure, the R8 is no lame duck, and this is even more so once the sports car has been tuned by ABT Sportsline. The result is a real model athlete, which does not just ooze power, but also doesn't have a single gram of fat on its body. With the limited version R8 GT R (with only 25 units available) engineers and designers have gone one logical step further: experience from motorsport flowed into the design, and all the components have been systematically trimmed to ensure a light-weight construction and optimal weight distribution. As a result not just the bonnet, front and rear aprons, the adjustable rear wing or the tailgate are made of carbon, but the outline edge on the rear, the external mirrors and the door panel are also made of the same material. When ABT Sportsline deals with the VW Golf, the result is traditionally a compact super sports car. This is because the world's largest tuner of vehicles from the Volkswagen group has given all generations of the successful Wolfsburg car an optical and technical boost. The current super Golf answers to the letter R, which announces the most important characteristics of the car: the "R" stands for "racing" - it transports the experience of ABT, which has recently defended its DTM title and won the ADAC GT Masters. Instead of the series-standard 270HP (199 kW) the engine now offers a dynamic 310HP (228 kW). With a high-speed of 261 km/h the ABT R is especially fast - and it is also capable of quick acceleration: it sprints from a standstill to a speed of 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.

The R8 Spyder is not just a cabrio, it is a teasingly beautiful open-top sports car of the top class, a real dream car - in particular ABT Sportsline's version. Their designers have contoured the lines of the open-top model athlete, and using the ABT R8 Spyder has redefined the word "roadster" with Bavarian thoroughness: the result is a vehicle whose power can be seen even when it is at a standstill. The front grill, front apron, side sills and rear apron with the rear spoiler as well as the dual-colour coated ABT BR alloys have been adjusted to the dynamic design of the car. As with the closed R8 versions from ABT, the team has designed all the components in order to achieve the sports car's optimum distribution of weight; all the parts are therefore made from carbon. As a result the performance can be converted into a maximum of driving enjoyment. Anyone who wants to systematically reduce the weight of their Spyder should use the new ABT CR Superlight alloys, as they also excellently suit the character of the ABT R8.

The V10 with 5.2 litre cubic capacity is used in the ABT R8 Spyder: this provides 600 well-trained horses (441 kW) - while in the series version there are 525HP (386 kW). The Spyder is able to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds and achieves a top speed of 320 km/h. The roadster is therefore a hurricane for the road, giving lovers of fresh-air a new "tangible" term. Suspension springs from ABT provide even better handling, which in particular has a positive effect in the threshold regions of the Spyder. In addition the lower centre of gravity gives the mid-engine sports car an even more aggressive appearance. When you take a look at the car you can see that it is one of the fastest of the fast - and is really ready for anything, as you would expect from an ABT R8.

Just a week ago, the rumor was spread that new TVRs will be coming to the U.S. and that they'll cook their tires with U.S. engines – but you'll probably have to wait until this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed to get the details. Now we've been told that you can buy remanufactured versions of the Tuscan, Sagaris, and T350, and you don't have to wait at all!

These old-as-new TVRs are being sold as rolling chassis, the same way you would buy a Superformance or Rossion, and have otherwise been made to comply with U.S. DOT laws. They're available through Carmel Motorsports in Indianapolis, and all you'll need to do after a phone call and a cash transfer is show up with an engine or a trailer.

We don't know where the supply of cars is coming from, however. The "official" TVR isn't building cars; these are coming from a company called Total Vehicle Remanufacturing. TVR, get it? At next week's Geneva Motor Show, Ford will stage the world premiere of the fifth member of its Focus family after the five-door hatchback, four-door sedan and the C-MAX and Grand C-MAX minivans, the station wagon model.

According to our sources, the more practical and roomy Focus SW (also known as the Estate in some countries) will initially be launched in Europe. However, if there's enough interest by buyers in other international markets, Ford will add the station wagon variant to its global range of Focus models in the very near future.

CLR X 650 M - that is the name of the BMW X6M after it underwent a rejuvenation by LUMMA Design. Instead of the serial 555 hp (408 kW), the V8-engine now renders powerful 650 hp (478 kW). Also, LUMMA Design increases the maximum torque from 680 to breathtaking 830 Newton metres. Thereby, the top speed rises to 312 kph. This enormous performance enhancement of the BMW is owed to the catalyst replacement pipes, the sports exhaust system and the adjusted engine electronics which LUMMA Design especially optimised for this automobile in elaborate tests. The matching sound for this newly gained power is rendered by the end muffler "Sportsound" with its four stainless steel end pipes measuring 100 millimetres in diameter.Aerodynamics kit and undercarriage enhance the performanceMatching the increased performance, the CLR X 650 M presents itself confidently with a broad aerodynamics kit. Already the new front skirt with the LED daytime running lights leaves no doubt for the bold appearance of the refined BMW. Geneva Debut: Pagani Zonda Tricolore

Pagani has released pictures of the Zonda Tricolore, a car based on the Zonda Cinque but with some marked differences. Only one Tricolore will be built and presumably it will be the same unit unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Its purpose is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Italian equivalent of the British Red Arrows Display team which is known as the ‘Frecce Tricolori'.

Presumably the last iteration of the hyper-exotic Zonda before the new C9 hits production, the Tricolore edition honors the Italian air force aerobatics team, known as the Frecce Tricolori. Based on the exclusive Zonda Cinque, the Tricolore is constructed from a special carbon-titanium weave left bare but for a clear blue lacquer. Red, white and green stripes run up from the nose along the top of the car's surface, passing by the unique vertical fin air intakes.

Its tub is also made from carbon fibre weaved with titanium wire while the exterior is just carbon fibre. The front end features special LED lights that look like the tail fin of an airplane. Instead of the Cinque's air intake snorkel, the Tricolore has a small vertical fin on top of the engine cover whose nature and purpose will be fully revealed at Geneva. The transmission is an automated paddle-shift type.

LED running lights are also unique to the Tricolore, of which only one example will be built and sold at a whopping 1.3 million euros, or about $1.75M in American funds. The Tricolore is slated to be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

Leak: Ferrari 599 Hybrid Concept

We've been hearing a lot about Ferrari's Geneva-bound 599 Hybrid concept model for quite some time now, but the Italian supercar maker apparently can't keep it under wraps anymore as the first photos of the prototype model made it onto the web today.In response to initial reports, Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo confirmed during the Ferrari F10 Formula 1 car launch that a 599 hybrid concept was indeed under development. Now photos have surfaced from a private presentation and they are quite detailed.The system comprises of an electric motor producing somewhere around 100 horsepower and 137Nm (110 lb-ft) of torque that is attached on the back-end of the rear-mounted transmission, and a battery pack located under the floor.Looking at the photos with strategically placed mirrors for optimum viewing, we can see the electric motor attached to the rear of the differential. The verdict was as follows:The new Audi A1 offers a very sophisticated chassis, balanced weight distribution and a low center of gravity. "That is a guarantee for maximum driving enjoyment," says Horst Glaser, Head of Chassis Development at AUDI AG. Because it connects the driver to the road, the steering is one of the most important components of a sporty car. The A1 therefore comes standard with electrohydraulic power steering that has a very direct 14.8:1 steering ratio and is also more efficient than a purely hydraulicsystem.Another factor for the agile and safe handling of the A1 is the perfect tuning of the front axle bearings, the stabilizer bars, the springs and the dampers. The rear axle features a torsion-beam suspension with the springs and dampers separated. "The car is very well sprung. Just two months ago, BMW Motorsport softly announced a new model due out in the second quarter of 2010: BMW Z4 GT3. Based on the current generation E89, the Z4 GT3 is powered by the 4.0 liter V8 engine found in the current M3 producing approximately 480 bhp. The engine is controlled by the modern ECU 408, while the Power400 control unit is responsible for operating all actuators. The transmission takes place via a sequential, six-speed gearbox.

Development of the groundbreaking McLaren MP4-12C is entering its final phase. The bespoke high-performance sports car is due to launch in 2011, and right now the latest Experimental Prototype (XP) 12Cs are undergoing intensive appraisal at a number of test locations around the world.One such site is Spain's Applus IDIADA facility, the most comprehensive independent proving ground in Europe. McLaren Automotive recently obtained special permission to capture on camera the XP Beta cars in action at Applus IDIADA, and on public roads in the foothills near Tarragona. The result is the second in the 'Inside McLaren Automotive' series of short films. This gives viewers a unique insight into a performance car testing programme from the perspective of the development team responsible for the 12C.Featured in the short film are XP8 and XP10, two XP Beta-phase prototypes. Wrapped almost entirely in matt black vinyl, XP Beta cars are clearly discernable from 2009's XP cars, which were seen in the 'Inside McLaren: Developing the MP4-12C" video sporting a black and white contrasting camouflage exterior.The XP Beta test cars feature significant technological advancements that take the 12C nearer to production. Geneva preview: Fiat Two-Cylinder 85 HP TWIN-AIR Engine

The new two-cylinder engine family made by FPT - Fiat Powertrain Technologies called TWIN-AIR will be making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. This is a brand-new concept on the worldwide auto scene and confirms the leadership of the Fiat Group in this field.Using next-generation technology, the new engine implements the revolutionary Multiair system combined with special fluid dynamics optimised for the best fuel efficiency. Furthermore, by taking the concept of downsizing to the extreme and masterly tuning the basic mechanics, the new family - delivering from 65 to 105 HP - emits 30% less CO2 than an engine of equal performance.Visitors to the show will admire the first application of this new engines on a 500, the first Fiat model on which it will be introduced next July. Hamann performance kits for the Fiat 500 Abarth and Abarth esseesse

At first glance, the Fiat 500 does not really seem to fit into the HAMANN-Motorsport programme. But the company based in Laupheim is not only one of the most renowned refiners for BMW-models and exclusive luxury cars, but also popular cars - and without any question the retro scooter surely belongs into that category. Since the model has been introduced in 2007, HAMANN has offered dynamic modification kits for the Cinquecento which meet large approval with the fans.Now the next strike of genius follows: HAMANN provides the Fiat 500 with more power. The Abarth version is the centre of attention - Fiat´s sports model. Yet, the factory-made 135 hp sound rather modest. But HAMANN now changes that with five performance enhancements. Already the smallest upgrade "HS I" boots the little scooter up to 160 hp by applying some well-directed changes in the engine electronics. The torque rises from 206 to strong 285 Nm. But this is not yet the end for the 1.4 litre petrol car. The next upgrade "HS II" pushes the Abarth to 180 hp and 295 Nm torque. Software setting, modified exhaust turbo charger, optimised air filter case with sports air filter as well as a two-pipe end muffler - they all make this impressive result possible. But the HAMANN technicians even go one step further with the performance kit "HS III" which renders 210 hp and 310 Nm. This can be attributed to a turbo charger with smaller geometry, a new fuel supply and an optimised engine electronic.The vehicle transforms from the friendly bubble car in the back mirror into the wild beast with the help of the two race-qualified modification kits which contain an entire engine modification. For the power setting "HS RACE" for example, HAMANN uses forged pistons, enhanced connection rods, a modified turbo charger with charge air cooler, a race clutch with weight-optimised one-mass flywheel and a new control electronic - altogether this renders 240 hp and a torque of 330 Nm. For optimum deceleration, there are sport brakes with a four-piston calliper and 264 mm or 305 mm large brake discs. BMW will build electric cars in Leipzig

BMW plans to assemble their electric cars at a manufacturing facility in Leipzig, Germany. Amongst these vehicles is a subcompact, referred to internally as the "Megacity," which the automaker plans to release midway through 2013 with a different name.

“The BMW Group will build the car of the future in Leipzig with high-tech innovations from Bavaria,” BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer said in a statement. “The main reasons behind this decision are the qualities that Germany has to offer: we have a tried-and-tested production network here and high levels of education and outstanding competencies at our disposal.”

There are vehicles that only true designers dare to approach, such as the R8, the incarnation of a real sports car from Audi. Equipped with either a V8 or V10 motor, the R8 is a real feast for the eyes even fresh from the factory, hovering lowly above the street and equipped with beautiful proportions.And that is why the designers from Prior Design gladly accepted the challenge and, during a month-long process in which they paid great attention to detail, they developed a tailor-made body kit for the powerful model from Ingolstadt. For the front with the huge cooling openings, there is a discreet spoiler with a middle fin and two additional flat openings. The completely newly manufactured car hood is visibly more powerful due to the power dome and additional carbon inlets. Thanks to a new set of curved side skirts, the lateral silhouette appears distinctly more athletic than the serial version. As a real highlight, the C-pillar is painted in the vehicle's colour, giving a decidedly more harmonic overall visual appearance. Mystery Car Revealed: Mazda RX-8 Turned Into Lamborghini-Themed Coupe from Singapore

My goal is to create a completely unique RX-8 Coupe with a sleek design that will stand out from the crowd.The company associated with the project is called J's Artworks. They initially turned me down when I could not settle with their asking price but the company's boss liked my idea and so we finally agreed on a fair amount.Starting with the side skirts, I did not like the usual aftermarkets parts that were readily available. In most cases, side skirts simply make the car look lower without adding to the design of the car.I really liked the Lamborghini Reventon's side skirts so I decided that was the way to go.Next up the front bumpers that were a real challenge. For the RX-8, I found the Nakamura Racing Factory front bumpers truly eye-catching. So from there on, took some styling cues from other Lamborghini models and voila!!!The rear-end of the car was a big question mark. There was no design to my liking. However, after going through all sorts of supercar exotics and hot rods for ideas, I came up with something I liked. The back won't be finished until September 2010. It is to surprise the public at the upcoming Super Import Nights here in Singapore.So with the Lamborghini Reventon-style skirts, J's Artworks suggested that I widen the body. That did not sit very well with me because I still wanted the use the car on the race track.I wanted the car not only to look good, but also to be reliable. Lots of planning, trials and errors, and setbacks were encountered along the way. First of all, I wanted to make sure that the FRP, putty, etc used was the right amount so that no unnecessary weight would be added.Second, I didn't want to make the body too wide so I could still be able to use my own 245/35 R19 tires. However, we did have to use spacers at the back. And that took quite a bit of time to find a suitable pcm so that I could use the thinnest spacer required. We ended up using a pcm from a BMW.Due to the known heat issues with the RX-8, we had to be careful with the bonnet. We have a fairly good idea of what the new 2011 Porsche Cayenne look likes, thanks to a couple of official leaks and some revealing spy shots, but in less than two weeks all will finally be revealed as the new SUV makes its debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.The current-generation Cayenne Diesel achieves a fuel economy of around 25.3 mpg (Combined European) but with a kerb weight almost 400 pounds lighter, the new Cayenne Diesel should achieve significantly better results. The Cayenne S Hybrid, however, will be the most fuel efficient Porsche in the automaker’s lineup, returning a fuel economy of about 28.7 mpg.The regular gasoline models will include the base Cayenne, powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 model with 300 horsepower, the naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V-8 Cayenne S with 400 horsepower and a range-topping twin-turbocharged 4.8-liter V-8 Cayenne Turbo with 500 horsepower.This latter model has been seen testing for the first time, captured here by spy photographers whilst being filled up with diesel fuel near a test location in Northern Europe. Leaked: 2011 Audi RS5 Coupe Brochure

A German agency appears to have mistakenly released the official brochure of the new Audi RS5 Coupe ahead of time as the car's world premiere isn't due for another week or so at the Geneva Motor Show on March 2.No details about the powertrain or performance specs are revealed in the brochure. However, it does mention three types of seating and four wheel design choices. Audi's 7-speed dual clutch S-tronic transmission is the only choice - no mention of 6-speed manual. Also, no flat-bottom steering wheel is shown.Look closely and you'll be able to spot the slightly blistered wheel arches that hark back to the original Quattro coupe, the new front bumper with larger air vents at each corner, the honeycomb grille without the horizontal bar, the redesigned rear bumper with an integrated diffuser and the two large oval tail pipes.Speculation over which powerplant will drive the RS 5 has ranged from a massaged 3.0-liter supercharged V6 in the S4, 4.2-liter V8 and 5.0-liter V10 in the RS 6 to the range topping 5.2-liter V10 from the R8. Time was, automotive magazines used to do stuff that was awesome. This IMSA Pinto is evidence of that. Car and Driver built this car in 1974 to illustrate that racing on a big scale for a modest budget was possible.The car grabbed the pole position in half the races it entered that season and won outright at its second race at Charlotte. Surely more powerful than the emissions- and oil-crisis choked street Pintos of the day, this race car is better suited to road courses than hugging the wall at Talladega, but it's likely loads of fun either way. Although the car itself is built from a ’72 Pinto, the team chose to use the larger 2.3-liter I-4 introduced in 1974, and had its block modified by Doug Fraser Racing Engines. A number of other changes, including a Corvette radiator, full roll cage, tall 4.10:1 and 4.30:1 rear axle ratios, and brakes and a steering box cribbed from a ’74 Pinto, were all part of the recipe.Overall, the experiment was a success -- the Pinto won its second race (at Charlotte), and managed to garner two pole positions in the four races it was entered in. Although it was relatively underpowered, the car’s forte was handling, and it could more than hold its own on tight road courses.The car had been sold off by Car and Driver back in 1974, and was subsequently restored by Don Sherman, now of Automobile Magazine, but a C/D alum, in 2005. Sherman had his nostalgic fun with the car before selling it to Fox Motorsports. Fox has added some more beans to the Pinto's powerplant, and now has it up for sale on eBay Motors. Hennessey Performance Venom GT fans won't be pleased to learn that the upcoming hypercar is not coming to the Geneva Motor Show next month, no thanks apparently, to a lack of exhibition space at the event. Autoblog reports that HP will instead showcase the Venom GT for the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK this July. US fans will get their first glimpse in Monterey.

The car is said to achieve power figures of around 746kW (1,000bhp) while peak torque is 1,288Nm (950 lb-ft) at 4,800rpm. It's all sent to the rear wheels from a 6-speed manual transmission.

First its heart was unleashed, the production-derived 5.5-liter V8, then its livery stopped to pose. Now the car has been caught doing what it hopes to do best this year, heating up the tarmac at Sebring International Raceway.

The new Polo GTI has been unveiled, promising to be the fastest, most focussed and cleanest performance Polo yet produced.The original performance variant of the Polo was unveiled in 1986 in the form of the G40 Coupé - a car that mixed a fast-revving, 113 PS, supercharged engine with a low kerbweight and sharpened responses.Fast forward 24 years and the new Polo GTI bears similarities with the G40.
