Hi, I just wanted to thank you for this wonderful wonderful recipe.. this recipe has been bookmarked on my chrome since 2012 and it was the first cake I ever made which I liked.. and also permanently converted me to oil-based cakes.. so much nicer for indian weather! I also reused your same recipe by replacing the date milk mixture with mango pulp milk mixture to get mango cake! Excited to try it again this summer.. I have finally gotten to cataloging my efforts and your cake features first.. thank you once again.. The first cake note here:

Thank you very much for this answer! I usually buy Deglet Noor which are pitted in the store I buy them at so this is good news!

Khajoor is the Hindi name for dates. You can use any variety

I have not heard of Khajoor dates (I am assuming they are a kind of date like Medjool or Deglet Noor). I usually buy pitted Deglet Noor dates and make that into paste then freeze in 1/2 cup containers for use in baking. Are Khajoor dates about the same size as Deglet Noor (which are smaller than Medjool (so I can get a mental picture of what 18 dates will look like?) thanks for the recipe - I am going to convert it to dairy free and gluten free.

Excellent recipe !! Thank you for posting this recipe . I made it today . It was Yum!! - soft ,moist , rich dark color . I love baking . I can understand why this recipe started a 'cake fever ' !! I reduced the sugar by 2 tablespoons , thinking that 3/4 cup would make the cake too sweet . Taste was good . For those with a sweet tooth , the 3/4 cup sugar would be fine . I baked it in a large loaf pan .
