Next Step

Wed, 13 Dec 2017 15:50:35 +0000

OK. So the next step is to be this motivated in the down ballot races so we never get another Roy Moore. R or D, we need to fill our seats with candidates that favor of basic human decency. PS Thank you to everyone who made me a part of the 2% write-in vote. Maybe […]

We’re On National TV!

Wed, 13 Dec 2017 04:02:19 +0000

Oh, Alabama. I am so proud of you right now. Don’t ever let anybody tell you your vote doesn’t count.

Official Announcement

Tue, 05 Dec 2017 18:15:41 +0000

This is the official announcement of my write-in campaign for Alabama’s Senate Seat. Write me in! I got 8 votes against Jo Bonner one of those times he was running unopposed. Y’all, I got an A in civics, memorized the Bill of Rights in 6th grade, have a general understanding of the Constitution, and can […]

The House

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 14:04:09 +0000

It’s coming along. The worst (as far as taking off the exterior and putting it back on) appears to be over. Also they let me ride in the lift. And we rescued bats before they pulled the crumbling chimney down. The other chimneys are getting copper chimney caps – so pretty in the sunshine. I […]

Just Sayin’

I had a Doug Jones sticker on the car before The Washington Post sent me an alert on Thursday. You can get yours here.

Election Day: Vote for the Helpers

Tue, 07 Nov 2017 14:31:47 +0000

Our special election isn’t until December 12, but I know there are a lot of people who do have the opportunity to go to the polls today. If you have that chance, please go. Figure out the kind candidates. Notice the thoughtful candidates. Identify the candidates who will pick people over party. Look for the […]

Hooking

Mon, 06 Nov 2017 13:29:15 +0000

Our Museum has a Hooked Rug exhibition up right now and offered a rug hooking class taught by Anne Norvell to go with it. Ellie and I were completely on board with that. The class was to make a little pumpkin rug – just big enough to get the feel for what might be a […]

Spooky Laugh

Wed, 01 Nov 2017 20:59:22 +0000

Don’t tell anyone but these were taken on November 1 – it was too dark last night. Ellie is Professor Minerva McGonagall and Beatrice is some kind of demon. The caution tape and extension cords are not just decoration, they’ve been working on the house for a couple weeks now! Progress is messy. And noisy.

Stitching

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 21:58:06 +0000

It took me almost two months to finish a bunny and two sweaters for a customer. Really unforgivable that it took so long. I’ve got plenty of reasons why this happened: too much Girl Scouts to work on, too much other stuff getting in the way, school, lots of different people coming in and out […]

Just Saying

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 01:39:02 +0000

Things Boys Could Learn in Girl Scouts NYT article (as an aside, we don’t need a badge to canoe. if we want to canoe, we find someone certified to take us and just go.) Also I spent today singing songs with Girl Scouts in a park. It was pretty great.
