Just so you know, you're both holding the stick properly. Your favoured hand should be at the top of the stick.

Why? It's easier to defend (poke-check) with your strong hand at the top of the stick. Your stong hand is the fulcrum, and your weak hand is the power.

Needless to say, it sounds like you guys are naturals. ;o)
