Us Philly fans have grown so accustomed to losing I think that when we win, whether it be the Phillies, Flyers, Sixers, or Eagles, it will be that much sweeter. And even though the Phillies have not won a playoff game since the early 90s, they could be primed to make a run at the World Series this year, assuming they stay healthy and don't have another epic collapse that seems to happen all too

Um ... let's see, the Bruins are on a 35-year Cup drought, the Celtics are on about 20 years (although there's a decent chance that will end this year), and the Pats went 30 years without a title from the merger to 2001. I wouldn't call that "three teams cleaning up".

The sad thing is as a Philadelphia sports fan born in 1980 (so just too young to remember the city's last

All the people saying the NHL rigged it are idiots. I'm sure the NHL also rigged the last 2 Stanley Cup finals to include Edmonton, Carolina, Ottawa, and Anaheim (with Tampa Bay and Calgary the year before) ...

I don't think it's really the NHL wanting the Penguins in the cup but more of them wanting the Flyers out of the cup. The Flyers faced shotty officiating the entire playoffs.

As if I needed anymore confirmation that the NHL was rooting for a Pens/Wings Cup Final.

Knowing Bettman, he probably rigged it. Especially considering how shotty the officiating was favoring Pittsburgh.

It could be worse for you. If you were born in 1949 or later in Cleveland, you've never seen a major championship win despite having three of the big four in town.

That's true, willmott. But when the Red Sox were in the draught, Boston fans still had the Bruins, Celtics, and even the Patriots a few years before the end of the BoSox drought to fall back on. Maybe it just seems worse for me because I was born in 1989, am from right outside of Philly and thus have never seen a major championship won by a Philly team.

2008-05-19T17:38:00.000-04:00

Yeah, sorry anon, but while it may have been more seasons for all of Philly's sports franchises than for just the Red Sox, the two aren't even comparable. 86 years of one season each are still far worse than 25 years of four seasons each.

Thanks a**holes!

To put it in perspective, Philly has gone longer without a championship than the Boston Red Sox during their curse. Hey, the only reason we're hated is because in the early 80s Philly teams in all 4 leagues were practically unstoppable.

But on the bright side, we are the most intimidating fans in the NHL and you can find all of us Philly fans working security

Flyers wouldn't take the sleeve on the course anyway. They would be end up being embedded into the skulls of public servants.
