I've heard of people like that...they quit SMOKING their nicotine only to CHEW it! Crazy! 20yrs is the longest I've heard of. IMHO, this person is still an addict. How sad!

I chose Chantix specifically because it does NOT contain nicotine. I just refilled my 3rd and last month (Yaaay!) and I've come up with my taper plan for these last 4 weeks. I don't think I'll become addicted it to, because as much as I love it, as much as it's helped me to quit, from the moment I took that first pill, I have been looking forward to getting off Chantix. I actually feel ready now, but I committed to the entire 12 weeks, so that's what I'm going to do. Of course, I didn't PLAN on becoming addicted to nicotine either! :-) Hopefully, 3 months on Chantix isn't long enough to get addicted to it!

Compared to others, I've had a pretty easy time on Chantix... bloating & gas have been my worse side-effect...and it's gotten worse in these last few weeks (btw, thanks for the Gas-X tip, I got some and it helps a LOT!), but for the most part it has been a smooth ride for me.

Even though my Chantix experience has not been as unpleasant as most folks, it's still not something I want to keep doing. It has done its job and on Nov 9th, I shall take my last pill (1/2 a pill at that point) and I will never look back!

Continued success on your quit!
