I completely agree... The typical family isn't eating together anymore. Several years ago I was getting fed up, nagging my children night after night to stop talking with their mouths full, etc.. So, I hid the video camera and taped our meal together. After dinner I told them all that I had a surprise for them. It was quite a site. They even pointed out things that Lance and I were doing that we didn't even realize. It gave us all a wake up call to mind our manners... you never know who is watching!

Loved this post--I'm with you. What are these parents thinking?!

Side note: When I was interviewing for my first CPA job, I went on a lunch interview. We returned to the office for me to meet a few others. On my way out, I stopped in the ladies room. As I was washing my hands, there it was--a big piece of spinach lodged between my teeth. No, I didn't get that job! Moral: In addition to practicing proper table manners, don't eat spinach on an interview.

Here, here sister! I am trying to teach my kids manners...did Aunt Mari say "MYM" (mind your manners)to you like our mom did to us when we left the house? Reese has learned now to say "excuse me" when Ryan/I are talking and she needs our attention. I love it.
