Best horror flick in decades Wed, 28 Oct 2009 05:45:49 GMT Perhaps the best horror film in the past 25 years. Highly disturbing, painfully creepy. The score is similar to "The Shining", which helps to creep you out. Cheers to Lars von Trier and Willem Dafoe. This movie is a big "F YOU" to hollywood rubbish films with NO depth, substance or atmosphere! Headbang! YouTube - Lars Von Trier's 'Antichrist' at Cannes Film Festival And ofcourse...the coolest fox of all time..... YouTube - The Fox Scene from Antichrist (Chaos Reigns)
Pulaski NY Sun, 25 Oct 2009 13:29:28 GMT Spent the last week in Pulaski NY. what a fishery. we didnt have the best week but we had a good one... hundreds of hookups, and lots of landed fish... King salmon, brown trout, steelhead, chub and maybe a rainbow mixed in. everything caught on 7 wt fly rods...6 and 8 # leaders... egg patterns and wholly buggers where the ticket for the week. i am going to have to go back and try again.... I bet i managed to land less than 5% of my hookups. there is a big learning curve on this type of fishery

Sad State of Affairs Thu, 15 Oct 2009 18:34:55 GMT It's a sad state of affairs when a young college educated man with real world experience can't find a job let alone get a response from employers with open positions. I have written over 100 individual cover letters/ emails attached with my resumes. In response only 1 employer has contacted me with the courtesy of saying your resume was received. The whole damn system is screwed up. I'm willing to work a terrible job that an illegal may be working but I can't even get that shit position. I am seriously considering a life of crime it would be more productive than my day to day endeavors.
E-collar transmitter found: Pine Road in Brentwood Thu, 15 Oct 2009 05:17:32 GMT *Good guy notice: on the way out today after an unsuccessful pheasant stomp, saw something that made me feel good--a baggie with a 'FOUND' note and inside, an electronic handheld device. I don't know much about them, but it's pretty clearly a device used in conjunction with a bird dog's e-collar. Some honest and kind soul found it, and took the time to bag it up, tape it to the entrance gate on Pine Road and leave a note. Just thought I'd post up to try to get word out to its rightful owner that someone found it. Pity not all of us are built of the same cloth (yes, sour grapes from my own camera loss, probably!).* *Bravo to the stand-up guy(s) who did the right thing! *
2009 is a wrap... Tue, 13 Oct 2009 13:35:59 GMT Sunday, after slogging 5 miles offshore watching the waves build on my way to "one last" cod trip,I pulled a turn around and called it a season and hauled the boat.. yesterday, I washed, winterized and covered... here is a brief summary of how it went.. I started the season by putting a new deck on my 32 year 18' old Jon Dory yellow tail.... I put the boat in the water the End of my, in preperation for my June vacation the weather pattern had been set early, rain and fog... if it wanst rainy it was windy...I did not fish as hard as I have in the past,I just dont seem to be inclined to beat myself to a pulp any longer, I finished the season with 386 ish over 20lbs...100 of those came the first week in June... Ground fishing on the inside did not live up to what it has been the last 5 years, I still filled the freezer ( large upright kept in the basement) and biggest cod was in the low 30lb class.. the water was often muddy and stained, even out on the beach, a picture of the bait tank will show what I mean.. that water is from the area around high sandy... Hight lights of the season were a 60lb tuna that grabbed a live mackerel ment for bass... my best bass of the year was a tad over 48lbs. and I got a PB bass( 30lb class) on a fly.. I took some pictures of the local wild life which included whales and seals ... speaking of camera's i have asked the boss lady for a new one for christmas, mine had many issues this year and after owning it for 3 years I still cant set the date... here are a few pictures from my season.. I'll post some pictures at lunch..Break is over.
End of season "Blue's" Tue, 13 Oct 2009 13:13:33 GMT as in Cop lights! lol I took my wife and a few friends for a "last ride" up into GB on Monday, got pulled over by the MP under the GS Bridge. They thought I was going too fast under the bridge, my 3 friends weighed in at approx. 1,000lbs, so, the boat was doing a wheelie and full throttle at 5-8mph and with the current wasn't going anywhere too fast. Checked all my stuff, had everything and they let us go. Well, fishing for me had mostly downs than ups this season. Had a total of 3 stripers 19", 22" and 27". Dozen small cod. I think my biggest problem this year was being too afraid of going places I didn't know. Not wanting to run up on rocks and things. So, I was constantly fishing the same areas I hadn't caught any fish in. Next season I plan to do more research on areas I can go. Going to buy a better GPS/Fish finder and trolling motor. AND do less whining! lol Thanks to everyone who offered me advice, really appreciated. This forum is truely a great resource. See you next season!
Feds to 60 Million American Anglers: We don't need you Mon, 12 Oct 2009 14:01:33 GMT Feds to 60 Million American Anglers: We don't need you From Shimano (http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/articles/feds_to_60_million.html): IRVINE, Calif. USA October 5, 2009 A recently published administration document outlines a structure that could result in closures of sport fishing in salt and freshwater areas across America. The White House created an Interagency Oceans Policy Task Force in June and gave them only 90 days to develop a comprehensive federal policy for all U.S. coastal, ocean and Great Lakes waters. Under the guise of protecting these areas, the current second phase of the Task Force direction is to develop zoning which may permanently close vast areas of fishing waters nationwide. This is to be completed by December 9, 2009. Dave Pfeiffer, President of Shimano American Corporation explained, In spite of extensive submissions from the recreational fishing community to the Task Force in person and in writing, they failed to include any mention of the over one million jobs or the 6o million anglers which may be affected by the new policies coast to coast. Input from the environmental groups who want to put us off the water was adopted into the report verbatim the key points we submitted as an industry were ignored. Recreational fishing generates a $125 billion annual economy in the United States and supports jobs in every state according to government figures. Through the Sport Fish Restoration program, anglers have provided more than $5 billion through excise taxes on fishing tackle to fishery conservation and education for decades. In addition to the economic aspects, anglers lead the nation in volunteer conservation efforts on behalf of improving fish habitat, water quality and related environmental areas. There was no mention of the fishery conservation efforts which anglers have led for over 50 years in every state an environmental success story that has no equal in the world, said Phil Morlock, Director, Environmental Affairs for Shimano. The Task Force did not make any distinction between the dramatic differences between harmful commercial fishing harvest methods and recreational fishing, even though we spelled it out for them in detail, added Morlock. Claiming to be the result of a public consultation process the report states, Having considered a broad range of public comments, this report reflects the requests and concerns of all interested parties. The original White House memo and not surprisingly the Task Force report contains multiple references to developing a national policy where Great Lakes and coastal regions are managed, consistent with international law, including customary international law as reflected in the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea - a 300-page treaty the U.S. has never ratified. We question what implications there will be for state authority and jurisdiction in the Great Lakes and coastal regions if the U.S. adopts the U.N. Treaty, said Pfeiffer. The report makes it clear that future authority for implementing the policy for coastal and inland waters will fall under White House jurisdiction with a new National Ocean Council comprised of over 20 federal agencies at Cabinet Secretary or Deputy Secretary level. No reference to Congressional jurisdiction is indicated. This significant change in U.S. policy direction is the result of a 90-day fire drill process as ordered by the President that, not surprisingly, lacks balance, clarity and quality in the end product, said Morlock. People who simply want to take their kids fishing on public waters deserve better from their government, he added. Shimano is joining with other members o[...]
