Mary-I don't think that you are totally off on any of these ID's. Before I take a further crack at them, where in this great country do you live? Geographic range can really influence things.

Birdlady: Love the quote! Pooh is pretty wise for a bear :-)

Me and My Camera: I was hoping you might know the wildflowers that I didn't have the exact names for. We have dandelions in bloom, too of course but because they are considered such a "weed" we don't bother taking pictures. Would you believe that my Dad paid me a penny for every 10 that I would pick when I was a little girl :-) It was my chief source of spending money for years! I'd pick a dollar's worth a day and thought I was really rich :-) We may have Coltsfoot and Trout-lilies, too, but I didn't see any here. I do think that Spring tends to come in waves of different colors...especially in the trees and bushes...we begin with yellow (forsythia, daffodils) then move to purple/pink (some crabapples, magnolias, lilacs, redbuds) and white (crab apples, other fruit, dogwoods, spirea, mock orange).

Its really interesting to see the colour of your early wildflowers for most of the ones I see first are mostly yellow: Coltsfoot, Dandelions, Trout-lilies and I have wondered if that is accounted for just by regional differences. Your flowers look delicate and beautiful. Wildflowers are a very favourite part of nature to me. This is a lovely post.

"A weed is a flower growing where you don't want it." a.a.Milne from Winnie the Pooh.
The flowers are beautiful, and Happy May Day to you, too.

Saphotographs: I agree. Many of the little ones in my yard, are called "weeds"....but they are still lovely. We seem to think if they aren't growing in a woods somewhere, they aren't desirable :-) I wish I was better about identifying wildflowers. I want to go back to this woods when I get more time to see what more pops up.

Ah!! Spring!! The most wonderful of all the seasons to me. There are so many beautiful wild flowers, some so tiny, you can hardly see them, and each one perfect.

Thanks Sandpiper! I'll give it a shot. I always forget to note all the details about leaves and such and then when I go to a web site and it asks me questions, I don't have the answers unless they are in my picture!

What a wonderful woodland walk! I'm not sure about your flowers, Mary, but I always find this website very helpful for identifying wildflowers. It's a Connecticut website, but I've sent to people who don't live here and they use it often, too, now.
