Dude:

I'll skip the obvious joke about Streaming Protocols :-)

Regarding your concern about honesty, it comes down to intent; do you feel you are cutting stuff out to deceive? Editing and self-censorship are not necessarily the same thing.

In your podcast as the "Dude" you have created a persona, and an experience for the listener. You have to ask yourself, given what your concept of what the authentic voice of DicksnJanes is, is a given piece of content consistent with that concept?

That is the only metric that matters; you have to be honest with yourself before worrying about being honest with your listeners. And in all honesty (sorry) I don't think you have anything to orry about.

I'm just in the middle of listening, and I've hit the point where you wonder how knowing your listeners might affect what you do on the podcast.

While I think I get what you mean when you say that you don't want to change things, what you talk about, how you talk about it, I *do* think that when you get to know some of your listeners you start to engage in more of a dialogue -- in that way, you'll frame what you say knowing that you might get a response, or *hoping* you might get a response, from someone you know is out there.

As long as you're not censoring yourself, I actually think this can be interesting. I do know that because I know some of my own listeners, I make certain choices about what I'll podcast about because I know they'll enjoy it, or in order to encourage them to write.

But I would never not raise a topic I was interested in exploring.

Just a thought before I finish listening.

BTW, It's Katherine, not Anonymous, because all of a suddden Blogger is requiring me to have an account.
