[...] IE9 and SharePoint 2010 Issues (Shane Perran) Unless you go under the hood with SharePoint 2010, you may not be aware that there is a metatag which forces IE8 compatibility mode.  Presumably, this is because SharePoint 2010 and IE9 don’t yet play quite as nicely together as one would expect. Comment on SharePoint Customization Tip: Redirect to a custom page after completing a list form by Gary

Thu, 01 Sep 2011 13:57:07 +0000

Hi, thanks for all the useful info that you have posted. I have a question: In SP 2010 if I want to create a link for a user to add a new item to a Task list from a different page ... how would I go about that. So from the home page of a Sharepoint site have a link "Create New Task" that will open NewForm.aspx in a modal dialogue and then after they have filled in the data, they save and the form dissappears. I used to do it in MOSS with querystring but cant remember the syntax of the URL. Thanks Gary

Hi Shane, I thought this webinar might be of interest to you and your readers.   Please share !   Topic: Ford Foundation - a Case Study in Content Strategy and IA for SharePoint - Part 2 Date: August 3, 2011 Time: 1:00PM EDT Cost: Free with registration  http://tinyurl.com/4x99qyk   Description: This is a follow up to the call with Nicolette Lodico, Manager, Information Management, which took place on April 6.  In the April 6 session Ms. Lodico outlined the unique information architecture challenges that the Ford Foundation faced during its migration to SharePoint.  There was not time to get into  much detail about the results of their efforts.  So, in this session, Dalia Levine, Enterprise Information Architect, Information Management at Ford Foundation talks specifically how they resolved the problems in order to create the system they have today. Here are a few details about what we plan to cover: ○ Search UI Screen shots - sample searches with related terms ○ Use of facets - screen shot of facets in semaphore compared with facets on intranet ○ Use of content types  ○ Interesting auto categorization stories ○ Lessons learned and Next steps     Should be a great session.  Hope to see you there!   Sharon Foley Events Manager
