Installing ActivePerl for OSX

on 2018-02-22 02:39

Hi there,

I have installed the ActivePerl v5.24 on my OSX 10.13.3 High sierra.

Also added to .batch_profile in my home directory:

PATH=/usr/local/ActivePerl-5.24/bin:$PATH
PATH=/usr/local/ActivePerl-5.24/site/bin:$PATH
export PATH

When I do command: perl --version -> I get v5.18.2 that I think is Macs build in perl.

When I do command: ppm --version -> I get "-bash: ppm: command not found"

Am I missing some vital information how to get this to work ?
Would love to get some assistance on the this case.

Thanks
Ken

No DBD::MySQL for Perl 5.26 64bit

on 2018-02-13 13:27

Recent installation of Perl 5.26 on Windows 10 x64
Upgraded from Perl 5.24 where access to MySQL data is critical but alas the DBD::MySQL PPM module is not available so I have to uninstall and reinstall 5.24 to maintain compatibility.
Anyone know if we will get this module any time soon?

Creating many perlapp executables but distribute only one copy of perl

on 2018-02-05 14:52

I am currently distributing an application with many perlapp freestanding executables. I'd like to distribute only one copy of the perl distribution in my application and have each executable reference the one perl runtime that I'll distribute.

To do that I'm pretty sure I have to use the --dependent perlapp command line option but I don't see any documentation for what I need to distribute in addition to what I am currently distributing. I have some questions.

Q1

Distribute many perlapp wrapped executables but save space by using --dependent

on 2018-02-05 21:45

Summary Question

Do I simply use perlapp --dependent for each perl script and then make sure I copy perl-static to the app's bin directory (calling it perl) during the build?

Background

I am currently distributing an application with many perlapp freestanding executables, meaning they each include a bundled copy of the perl runtime.

I'd like to distribute only one copy of the perl runtime in my application and have each executable reference the one perl runtime that I would distribute.

Missing Docker Images

on 2018-02-11 22:34

Can anyone tell me why the Activestate docker images were removed from docker hub
https://hub.docker.com/u/activestate/dashboard/

I saw the following link on Activestate which outlines the docker images for Activestate supported languages.
https://docs.activestate.com/activego/1.8/virtualization/docker/
I am unsure as to what happened to the images (e.g Activeperl) and cant search for them on docker hub

PPM packages for v5.26 64bit?

on 2018-02-07 03:34

http://ppm4.activestate.com/MSWin32-x86-64int/5.26/2600/ is empty, hence, the PPM of ActivePerl v5.26 cannot download packages. When will the packages available?

Or is there another repository for v5.26?

Thank you,
