Old Barn

(image) An old barn on Highway 70 between Greensboro and Whitsett. This is my alternate route to work when traffic is bad on the interstate, and I'm always struck by the decaying beauty of this structure. Sometimes I think it is a metaphor for a vanishing way of life.

Not really...it's Teresa and our niece framed by the nandina bushes around the porch of her great-grandmother's farmhouse.

Greensboro got an unusual November snow today. Read the proper protocol for snow in the South at my garden blog.

After the Storm

(image) A fierce and violent hailstorm pounded Greensboro today. After it ended, man and beast emerged to see the damage.

Visit my garden blog to read more about the storm.

Grosbeak and Woodpeckers

(image) A Rose Breasted Grosbeak visits my garden on his way to his summer home up north, while two Red-Bellied Woodpeckers lunch on peanuts.

Joy To The World

2008-12-10T09:23:15.496-05:00

(image) "Do not be afraid; for see--I am bringing you good news of great joy for all people: to you is born this day in the city of David a savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger."
