Thank you Lauren! I don't know why I thought your name was Amanda lol. I got the ok for BP too, what concerned me is that most of the time, people just assume you use BP as a spot treatment and not a huge amount all over your face. So sites saying it was safe I assumed had never accounted for that amount of it. Even my OB was a little shocked by that amount and actually said I should maybe chat with a dermatologist. But knowing there are others who use a lot like the regimen says makes me feel better. Thank you!

@Brianna Brothers: I used benzoyl peroxide through all three pregnancies with no problem. I double checked with my dermatologist and midwife, and they were fine with it, though of course you should consult your own medical professionals for personalized advice.

I wrote this awhile ago, so as an update, I was able to cut out the other aspects of the regimen: the face wash (realized it just wasn't necessary since I use infrequent mineral makeup) and moisturizer/AHA aspects (I use less benzoyl peroxide and make sure it's the 2.5% and have no dryness or peeling). For my subsequent pregnancies, then, I was able to use just benzoyl peroxide without other topicals, just to be on the safe side. But my research suggests it would be fine to use all three; you can double check on the particular ingredients in your products.

Best wishes for your pregnancy!

Hi Amanda,

I know this thread is old, but I wanted to verify that you used the acne.org regimen throughout your whole pregnancy with no issues. Most of what I'm reading says BP is safe during pregnancy, but I'm just trying to be sure.

Thanks!

I'm glad to hear you're liking the BP, too! It was so frustrating to go through all the other non-effective treatments, all the while being told I'd "grow out of it." I've since found many other women (in particular) online who have acne into their 40s+. It was so great to find out (and I want others to know) that it doesn't have to be just endured!

Thank you for posting this. I enjoyed reading it. I once suffered with acne, from the age of 16 right up until I turned 26. I discovered acne.org (at the age of 26 funnily enough!) and started the regimen straight away. Yes for a couple of weeks my face was a tad on the red side from using the BP, but that settled down as my skin became more tolerant.

I am now 32 and still get spots, but I have continued with the BP, yes I do still get the odd spot hear and there, especially when I've not been looking after myself (eating rubbish, not drinking enough fluid), and some hormonal ups and downs (yes I'm also a woman)...but generally my skin is 95% better than what it used to be...and it used to be pretty bad and uncomfortable. it is nothing like that now.

BP is my saviour (not Jesus)!
