Thanks much for this. I was lucky enough to be at the Bird and Beckett event, and still have the copy of “Teducation” he signed for me (also circling the publisher’s name and adding “no friends of mine!”). A truly unique soul, and of course he would be friends with the late great Don Cherry too....

Thanks for this essay/memoir. Ted was right--getting out of Seattle was the best thing you could have done! P.S.--I know the name QR Hand from the Sacred Grounds Coffee website--he facebook 'liked' a couple poems of mine. I really should try to 'friend' him!
