The memes of fall 2017

A compulsive meme maker, I had to start my own "Hardcore Libertarian Memes" page on #Facistbook.   So here are a few of the better ones from this fall...[...]

Veterans Day Thoughts on the World Wars

Walter N. Barrett, my mother's father, in 1917. Gassed and wounded in legs at Belleau Wood in 1918. Laid in mud for three days before rescued. On the way home his first ship was torpedoed. My father was luckier. He only piloted surveillance planes over No Africa 1944-45 and high tailed it out when they saw their one German plane.

After I posted the photos below and the comments above on "#Facistbook",  a couple relatives came out with stories about my father's three brothers who saw extensive action in Europe and the Pacific during World War II. But the stories they shared with their kids - or their kids shared with other relatives - were very general, avoiding the gore and trauma and emphasizing comradery or amusing incidents. Denial is more than a river in Egypt...

Women speak out, shrivel male testosterone...

She's back!! Here, anyway.  Of course I rant away at Facebook still. Usually in much shorter form.  Here's a long one from today. And I just made the meme!! As a testosterone shriveling feminist, the spate of disclosures and exposes by brave women of sexist pigs left and right has been delightful. And let's not forget for every woman brave enough to speak out in the case of the serial abusers, there probably are 2 or 3 times as many who never will speak out. I certainly have a number of stories which I share here and there, including the full range of actual and attempted physical abuse, both in social and employment situations. Nothing that would make the news, unless I pressed charges. None of the "famous" people I knew over the years even came on to me, so no big revelations here!! But the minor creeps were exposed among my peers.Socially, being more sexually aggressive than most women, I often was too busy chasing the ones I wanted to spend much time worrying about the ones pursuing me. Plus it was fun making fun of the ones who came on to me who turned me off. Job-wise, in my 20s when this was a particular problem, I always quit any job where one or more male assholes pulled that crap and tried to keep power over me. (Except for a couple who turned me on and we did the nasty.) And I'm sure there are millions of women like me, many of whom effectively gave up careers to avoid harassment and are as broke as I am in my old age.Of course now men are saying "Oh, I'm afraid to be alone with women in offices now. We better not hire them." No, jerk weed, that's not the answer. Tell all the other jerk weeds to cut out the crap and then it won't be an issue any more. And media, keep exposing these jerks and women keep speaking out. And, per the below, women beware loud male feminists! I can think of two progressives in particular, proclaimed bisexual males, who were two of the slimiest sexists I know. (Though having had a lot of bisexual boyfriends, I'm not putting down all bisexuals.) Though, if I search my memory, another 10 or 15 "progressives" will pop into memory. Ooops, three more just did. And at least a few libertarian men proclaim themselves to be feminists. And Ooops! the two who came immediately to mind were the first to scream TERF at me. (You can ask them what THEY mean. I mean TOTALLY EXCEPTIONAL RADICAL FEMALE. ) Anyhoo... couple relevant articles. "Ban Male Feminists" at Splinter"Women shouldn’t trust the men who call themselves allies" at Washington Post [...]

Perverting libertarian decentralism

Because of all the sexist harassment at Wikipedia when I was editing it, I never did finish and put up my article on the phrase "Libertarian Decentralism", it's history, different meanings and, IMHO, its best, most libertarian meaning.  I will be finishing it soon for re-vamped and one or more other Wikis.  I'll be particularly motivated now because of the perversion of the idea recently promoted by Mises Institute president Jeff Deist.During my days editing Wikipedia I had the misfortune to have to deal with a couple of haters of libertarians who wrote highly biased and exaggerated stories about  a number of libertarians, especially those connected with the Mises Institute.  Their assertions usually were exaggerated and rarely were supported by the sometimes questionable sources they provided.  Of course, I heard enough about the Ron Paul newsletters over the years and certainly opined enough that they should out the idiot who wrote the most obnoxious entries and do mea culpa for publishing his screeds. But I had gotten the impression they'd reformed any such rank stupidity.Ron Paul, Lew Rockwell and Murray Rothbard, among others, have been a lot more culturally conservative than I am, and more interested in appealing to the right. As a former liberal Democrat I'm more interested in reaching out to independents and liberals -- and making sure those strays from the GOP know that women will fight for reproductive rights!  The Mises group also are annoyingly obsessed with the states rights of the confederate states and bashing unionist Abraham Lincoln. Since I emphasize individual rights today, I don't spend too much time thinking about states rights issues of 156 years ago! However, in the last couple years some libertarians have over-reacted with increasingly vicious rhetoric to growing big government encroachment on religion and individual rights and oppressive political correctness on campus.  Especially annoying to all has been the enforcement of the latter by vicious black bloc/Antifa street violence suppressing speech. Violence begets violence. I had seen some wack jobs making joke memes online about throwing leftists and leading libertarians out of helicopters. But I didn't realize how bad it had become on an intellectual level until I heard about Jeff Deist's speech a few days after he gave it in July 2017. Here's my Facebook statement which I spammed to all sorts of libertarian groups.  Its goal is to raise consciousness, not to destroy people, like so many "liberal", "progressives", leftists, etc. try to do today.  Of course, my memes may be more examples of tough love than consciousness raising. Nobody's perfect!Carol Moore comment on Jeff Deist presentation “For a New Libertarian” which he delivered at the 2017 Mises University. As a long-time libertarian decentralist promoting subsidiarity, nullification, self-determination and secession by communities of common interest, someone who actually worked with Murray Rothbard in the 1979-82 era, I was disappointed by Jeff Deist's sloppy and off-target presentation relevant to the topic. He doesn't seem to understand the difference between the right to be parochial in your self-determining community vs. some deluded view you have to be parochial to create a libertarian society! Sure, most humans retain what Deist calls their “stubborn ideas about family and tribe”, about “religion and faith”, “ethnic or nationalist or cultural alliances” and even their “sexual hangups and bourgeois values.” However, what matters to libertarians is that despite these attributes, humans adhere to the non-aggression principle, the Golden Rule advanced in similar language by most religious and many philosophical views. Libertarians do not see being (again Deist) “fragile and fallible and hierarchical and irrational and suspicious and herd-like” as being an impediment to understanding that principle. What hope is th[...]

Summer fun mocking alt-white boys - Part II

Continued from Part I, a review of the Alt-right attempted invasion of the Libertarian Party and my MEME pushback - and LP's post-Charlottesville demand they resign from the party.  Just because it's great to see the chronology. I just hope it is END OF STORY!!!Over the last 10 years a lot of young people have come into the libertarian movement and party influenced by Arch Abortion Prohibitionist Ron Paul and most of them are not right wing or alt-right or white nationalists. (Some white nationalist actively support abortion for non-whites!) So I made this meme as a play on a Ron Paul book title and cover.   Note that my tasks for the Pro-choice Libertarians group also have been severely restricted the last two months by dealing with this alt-right nonsense!  But I did make a couple relevant memes. And then there are the types of "libertarians" who think we should get rid of the non-aggression principle as the basis of the libertarian movement and of membership in the party. "Do not use force or fraud on others" is a variation of the "Do unto others" Golden Rule. So I have been whipping this one out frequently. Some libertarians started anti-racism and anti-fascism Facebook pages. In May Libertarian State Leadership Alliance 2017 National Conference presented its panel "Physically Removed, So to Speak: Making the LP Inhospitable to the Alt-Right and Other Nazis" with Josh Katz, Jody Weitzman, Mike Shipley, and Leslee Anne Petersen. I wrote a summary and distributed it widely.  The Libertarian Party twitter feed sent out a screenshot of the event. Several of us demanded stronger action.  allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="300" src="" width="500">  I wasted more time reading about and being anxious about Trump's war threats and wondering if he's just looking for an excuse to impose martial law, a nice little war that won't start any nuclear war. I've got it: He'll invade Venezuela!!  With Trump's delusional dementia getting so much worse, it is scary to think the generals will end up running the US.  Even if Pence replaces Trump, will one of them run against him in 2020 and make it an official JUNTA with a bunch of his "Hoo Ya" military buddies? This June anti- Alt-right and Antifa meme was even more popular than the more recent one in my Part I of this two part posting.A lot of libertarians breathed a sigh of relief when Augustus Invictus joined the GOP. Maybe the LP Veteran Caucus would follow him back to the GOP!  Then came the weekend of August 11-13 and all hell broke lose in Charlottesville and online.  If you haven't see the HBO VICE NEWS video below, watch it.  Really shows this group of "alt-right" guys aren't just jerks with a few nut jobs thrown in. Or the relatively innocuous "League of the South" types of the early 2000s who would shut up any bigots who went spouting off publicly while they networked with libertarians and decentralists. (Looks like they've gone REAL bad too!) These groups are now organized and dangerous bigots.  A few individuals passed through the libertarian movement the last 10 years because they found it to be the most organized hardcore anti-government movement.  But happily they soon realized their kind of crazy wasn't wanted and left... Don't let the occasional libertarian-sounding rhetoric fool you.  It's pretty clear they want to obtain their ends through the organized violence of the state just like the Demopublicans and the Bernie bros. (Oh, Geez. They helped Augustus Invictus and his new buddy Richard Spencer just proved it by issuing this incredibly statist "alt-right" "Charlottesville Statement". "Liberty" isn't there. And their ethno-centrism doesn't mention their right to secede into such communities. Because they want to enforce it on the whole country. Ugh....)The video's bald ranter Chris Cantwell - who once afflicted some libertarian group[...]

Summer fun mocking alt-white boys - Part I

One likes to think one can be creative and not have to waste too much time reacting against the stupidity other people are engaged in. It's nice to fantasize one's brilliantly rendered alternatives will lead them from ignorance to wisdom.  And then there is reality.  You get pissed off and end up mocking them for being jerks. Oh, well.Worse, after six weeks my revamped/updated/ in Wordpress STILL looks like this. With a one sentence intro. But I've been dealing with disgust/frustration about the "invasion of the body snatchers" of "alt-right" and "white nationalist" types into the Libertarian Party, especially over the last 6 months or so; they came complete with threats of violence against those who oppose them (mostly in the state of Florida where they took over a county party).  Happily, their invasion has been resisted and the LP finally told them to resign (quotes in Part II).This invasion is not as bad as when the "black bloc" strategy of doing property damage and fighting with cops invaded and DID take over "progressive" movements in 2000. There was barely any resistance at all! I was one of the resisting "peace nazis" and later wrote an ebook about it all: "The Return of Street Fightingman".  Since then the black bloc organizers (some of them doubtless government provocateurs) have infiltrated the Occupy Movement, LGBT movements, Black Lives Matter, and turned itself into the "Antifa" (anti-fascist) movement. And it has become an even more violent movement.  We've all seen the campus violence in Oregon and California and elsewhere to shut down any differing conservative opinions, as well as those of feminists who question the new "gender ideology."This violence only aggravated and encouraged violence by "alt-right" guys - egged on by the seriously demented Donald J. Trump, of course.  So now half of them are becoming out and out white nationalists.  You create what you hate evidently.  And we saw the disgusting torch marches and bigoted chants, the street fighting between left and right, and the death of one woman in Charlottesville, VA last weekend as the result.Of course, it's mostly males, left and right, looking for any excuse to prove their manhood. (You too, Bernie Bros.) Anyway, I'll just share some of my MEMES and a few comments below. You can check out my public posts at Facebook/CarolMoore1776  And those are just a tiny sampling of all I've written on various closed and open FB groups.  "I'm carol and I'm a FB addict..." Tomorrow I'll practice self-control, I promise!!Last year I had heard some vague tales about the obnoxious "Augustus Invictus", a Florida lawyer who was rejected as an LP senatorial candidate in 2016 because he was too right-wing. Here's my meme about him created this early this summer. (Good news, last month quit the party and joined the GOP!)And then the "alt-right' phrase started being applied to some of his fellow travelers who were very disruptive at a couple state libertarian events this winter.   Then in May the alt-right created and operated "LP Veteran Caucus" went nuts because the LP Vice-Chair Arvin Vohra dared to point out angrily that those who joined the military just for the job and benefits, knowing they'd be sent to kill innocent people, were little more than murders.  That's when I discovered and exposed the kind of crap some of them were posting at their FB page. Like this (removed after a couple of us made a big stink). Then there was this "joke" threat one of them posted vs. Arvin. Then Carol really went into meme overdrive. Continued Part II[...]

"Creating a Non-Violent World Through War Tax Resistance"

Another war tax resister and I wrote a popular leaflet for National War Tax Resistance Coordinating Committee way back around 1985ish.

Happily, they asked us to update it and I was willing, so here it is. Fresh and ready for the Trumpian times to come. You can print it out yourself or wait for them to get back from the printers.

Spank me! Forgot Video of March 2017 AIPAC Protest!

Yow, how could I have forgotten to upload this one.  Jews and Palestinians and Peaceniks kicking some AIPAC butt.  And I only had to send out a few notices, as the younger generation takes over from us oldsters!  The beginning of the video below does a quick review of past efforts vs. AIPAC, including several early ones proposed by me and taken up by our now defunct local grassroots peace group.

Oh, that's right I put it at my Youtube/TheIsraelLobby channel where I collected all my relevant videos and started putting up new ones. They were overwhelming Youtube/CarolMoore.

Two New Women's March videos

Carol continues typing out reams on Facebook and connecting with thousands of libertarians, decentralists, feminists and secessionists. So much so I'm about to finally update to Wordpress.  Only took 10 years of promises!

I've accumulated all sorts of disjointed posts that properly organized make up exciting stories of Fighting Irish Carol and Other Women not taking any guff. Nope, we're taking on sexists, forced birthers, alt-rightists, Trumpeteers, Bernie boys, PC warriors - and real live warmongers - etc. Lots of archiving so my biographers can put together the stories! Yuk Yuk

Meanwhile I did make two videos of January 21, 2017 Woman's March. The first nine minute one is called "Women's March 2017: challenging supremacist patriarchy". On Youtube/CarolMoore. It explicitly calls for women right and left to dump the demopublicans and the gun-toting "Bernie Boys" and become some variety of libertarian decentralist.  And includes a nice reading list.  The musical background is the song that is included in the second music video - "Speak truth to power" on Youtube/CarolMooreSongs.  I wrote the song in 1986 for a libertarian song contest. I won! IMHO, definitely most melodic of the several "Speak Truth to Power" songs on youtube that were written after that date. ENJOY!

Amazing future - if we don't get nuked first

Too good not to make sure it's shared. (Link here; formatting a bit better below) Udo Gollub at Messe Berlin.April 22, 2016 · Berlin, Germany · I just went to the Singularity University summit and here are the key learnings. In 1998, Kodak had 170,000 employees and sold 85% of all photo paper worldwide.Within just a few years, their business model disappeared and they got bankrupt. What happened to Kodak will happen in a lot of industries in the next 10 year - and most people don't see it coming. Did you think in 1998 that 3 years later you would never take pictures on paper film again?Yet digital cameras were invented in 1975. The first ones only had 10,000 pixels, but followed Moore's law. So as with all exponential technologies, it was a disappointment for a long time, before it became way superiour and got mainstream in only a few short years. It will now happen with Artificial Intelligence, health, autonomous and electric cars, education, 3D printing, agriculture and jobs. Welcome to the 4th Industrial Revolution.Welcome to the Exponential Age.Software will disrupt most traditional industries in the next 5-10 years.Uber is just a software tool, they don't own any cars, and are now the biggest taxi company in the world. Airbnb is now the biggest hotel company in the world, although they don't own any properties.Artificial Intelligence: Computers become exponentially better in understanding the world. This year, a computer beat the best Go player in the world, 10 years earlier than expected. In the US, young lawyers already don't get jobs. Because of IBM Watson, you can get legal advice (so far for more or less basic stuff) within seconds, with 90% accuracy compared with 70% accuracy when done by humans. So if you study law, stop immediately. There will be 90% less laywyers in the future, only specialists will remain.Watson already helps nurses diagnosing cancer, 4 time more accurate than human nurses. Facebook now has a pattern recognition software that can recognize faces better than humans. In 2030, computers will become more intelligent than humans.Autonomous cars: In 2018 the first self driving cars will appear for the public. Around 2020, the complete industry will start to be disrupted. You don't want to own a car anymore. You will call a car with your phone, it will show up at your location and drive you to your destination. You will not need to park it, you only pay for the driven distance and can be productive while driving. Our kids will never get a driver's licence and will never own a car. It will change the cities, because we will need 90-95% less cars for that. We can transform former parking space into parks. 1,2 million people die each year in car accidents worldwide. We now have one accident every 100,000km, with autonomous driving that will drop to one accident in 10 million km. That will save a million lifes each year. Most car companies might become bankrupt. Traditional car companies try the evolutionary approach and just build a better car, while tech companies (Tesla, Apple, Google) will do the revolutionary approach and build a computer on wheels. I spoke to a lot of engineers from Volkswagen and Audi; they are completely terrified of Tesla.Insurance companies will have massive trouble because without accidents, the insurance will become 100x cheaper. Their car insurance business model will disappear.Real estate will change. Because if you can work while you commute, people will move further away to live in a more beautiful neighborhood.Electric cars will become mainstream until 2020. Cities will be less noisy because all cars will run on electric. Electricity will become incredibly cheap and clean: Solar production has been on an exponential curve for 30 years, but you can only now see the impact. Last year, mo[...]

Just got this in email. Since it's not on their web page, thought I'd share it here and tweet it. Here's link to where to report your favorite scoundrels.

Otherwise, obviously still enslaved by Facebook. But screen saving everything important in case Trump orders them to Persona Non Grata all of us troublemakers! (Like after he declares martial law after he bombs North Korea - which responds with nukes. Pretty much what saavy libertarians and peaceniks expected!)

And a few more pro-choice memes... Last one mine. Busy finishing off some projects at Pro-ChoiceLibertarians.Net and then YES! I will work on CarolMoore.Net and Secession.Net.

Recent womens and American Indian protest photos

March 8, 2017 International Women's Day
I took these at the 800 plus mostly women rally a few blocks from the Capitol building. Just a few of them below.

March 10, 2017 Standing Rock Indian protest vs. Dakota Pipeline
Maybe a 1000 activists, mostly out of towners, at this one. Some great indigenous costumes.

These (state brainwashed) Kids Today!

Read an infuriating article from University of Pennsylvania student newsletter whining about "'Women are being erased' under Trump" - when they made it quite clear they were big supporters of the transgender movement which has relentlessly tried to erase women born as women. Just sharing this edited version of my ranting reply to keep the blog alive. (Wonder if the snowflakes will delete it.) I'll even link from FB (aka freaking facebook - bleah, crappy archiving for compulsive archivists.)  Enjoy... Plus a few memes for emphasis. This article would be humorous if it wasn't so sad.  Because of transgender ideologues physicians can't say "mother" or "breastfeeding" in England any more - how long before here?; pro-choice women mentioning vaginas or wearing pink pussy hats or carrying "don't tread on my uterus" graphics are called "transphobic"; abortion clinics become womens clinics; and women's clinics become what - all gender clinics?Women who dare to note that women born as women, their experiences as well as their natural bodies, are being erased are called TERFs (Trans exclusionary radical feminists). That acronym often is used in the insult/threat "DIE, TERF, DIE" delivered over the last few years to thousands of women online. Women who hold forums just to discuss these issues in the most sympathetic and inclusionary manner are shouted down until police remove the offenders. A new woman’s library in Canada was invaded and property destroyed on its opening night just because one of the founders had criticized transgender ideology; protesters called for removal of books that had nothing to do with transgenderism which they obviously hadn't read. Police had to be called. And let's not forget the erasure of gay men and lesbian woman, i.e., all of them who now are being called transgender at an early age and rushed into hormone therapy, before they figure out - "Oh, I'm really gay."  Too many parents may prefer transgender children to gay or lesbian ones! Or are gays and lesbians no longer part of the "intersectionality" philosophy??If one woman on that panel had dared to mention even one of these factoids she would have been shouted down and probably asked to leave the stage.  How many good Democratic women were too disgusted to vote for Hillary because of her support for confused little boys sharing shower rooms with their daughters or any convicted sex offender who claims to be a woman following them into a big box store woman's rest room?  My guess is it was AT LEAST 80,000 in the four usually democratic states that Trump one by 78,000 votes. When I was in college in the sixties we had a lot of ideas about peace and love and transcending sex stereotypes and building community, ones many of us still have today. And we were on the lookout to make sure the future 1984 was not like the book “1984".I'm sad to see today's college kids are about "diversity of tactics" and attacking anyone whose ideas are a smidgen different and reinforcing sexual stereotypes through hormone treatments of 7 year olds and making sure only your community counts and the rest are policed by federal law and jackbooted thugs to make sure they are politically correct. Don't worry, it's not your fault. It's the fault of all the power hungry bureaucrats out to win big paychecks, promotions, perks and pensions by manipulating your lives with whatever ideology screws with people's minds the most.  And they finally have found it - instead of "1984" it is "2017."  "War is peace" and "men with penises can be women".  What a collapse in morality, culture and common sense. Soon you’ll be out of college and realize that your future already has been mortgaged to pay for baby boomers social securi[...]

INPUT! INPUT! for my poor neglected blog...

Here's some of my fun memes of last month...

Poor neglected blog...

Neglected for the so much more ephemeral Facebook pro-choice and libertarian and uppity women organizing facebook posts and twitter tweets. Sure, I screenshot everything twice a month for posterity. At least til Trump gets us nuked in the new war he and Israel's fascist leader Bibi Netanyahu are planning vs. Iran. (Russia has a military alliance with Iran. Guess mainstream media never mentioned that, did it?)Plus I am trying to get my old websites updated. (So hopefully they'll all look cool like this one I'm working on.) So pardon me if I just do a few quick screen shots of some recent postings and memes.[...]

Women Protest against Sexism - and for Abortion Rights!

Carol & pro-choice libertarians signTwo and half weeks ago - January 21 - 500,000 mostly women protested the rank sexism of newly inaugurated President Trump. Most of us were against his most dangerous agenda, outlawing abortion from conception. This despite the fact polls show a large majority of Americans want to keep abortions legal:  Quinnipiac University national poll and Pew Research Poll. d/Under Roe v. Wade abortion is legal in all cases in the first two trimesters and to save life of mother or remove dead or dying fetus. Most late term abortions due to women having inadequate access to high priced abortions that it takes them time to arrange. All due to the vicious laws passed by abortion prohibitionists who inaccurately call themselves "ProLife."  Something our Pro-Choice Libertarians group emphasizes and other pro-choice groups should too.See all my photos here. And below are some particularly good pro-choice signs. [...]

OOOPS! It's 2017 already! A couple January posts

What the hey...  Let's start with one from today... The Anti-Abortionist Boobs Memes debate started again when some guys started ooggling one of their memes.  I responded with this meme:

Plus other stuff... now hopefully back to our regularly scheduled blah blah blah...

OOOPS! It's 2017 already! December Posts

Here's a couple good ones from Facebook, December 2016.* * * * I also was on quite a Pro-Choice Libertarian binge in December, debating with some anti-abortionist women who try to show how cool they are to "sex positive" young women (and male voyeurs) by showing their cleavage. Yet elsewhere they have insulted and shamed and defacto terrorizing women through calling abortion murder and making it clear the law should deal with murder.  One admits she tries to get women to talk about their abortions and makes them feel bad about it. What psychotic hypocrits! I may yet do a whole website page on them once I FINALLY put into wordpress... And one of them is a born-again Christian who had her own ministry to women who had had abortions.  Very mentally deranged... (my mock on her, not her actual meme!)Can you tell that I believe that extremism in defense of women's control of their own bodies is NO VICE?? To paraphrase Karl Hess who wrote "liberty" for some presidential candidate who lost. I just applied it more specifically to women's rights - which these right wing dick pricks are putting under assault yet again. And women are getting mad![...]

OOOPS! It's 2017 already! November Posts

Haven't been blogging lately. Too busy with often lower quality posts on more ephemeral Facebook. (Though I religiously archive posts.)  So here's some of my better FB posts since last time I blogged here. Starting with this post, to this Federalist link.
And then there is this:

Identity supremacy sucks...

MEMES make life so easy. Instead of a boring 500 or 1000 word essay that nobody reads, you can make up a colorful image that people GET immediately.  (Even if it's stupid or evil.)

This one is pretty self-evident. All sorts of supremacy is really tacky at best and sick at worse. Be it by racial, religious, ethnic, national or other groups.  Certainly if it's MALE supremacy.  And even, female supremacy, what little of it there is.

Obama right about crude nationalism/ethnic identity /tribalism

First, the spate of American secessionist news quickly has subsided.  We'll see if there are a bunch of secession petitions on White after (ack! I can barely write or say it) President Donald J Trump takes office. (Assuming he doesn't throw up his hands and give it all to Vice President Mike "outlaw all abortion now" Pence the day after the electoral college makes the election official.) Anyhow, right wingers are far more liable to jump to the secession alternative. And after a year of Trump as president, both right and left may be ready.  Obama's exact quote on this topic, made November 15, 2016 on his final foreign trip, was: “I do believe, separate and apart from any particular election or movement, that we are going to have to guard against a rise in a crude sort of nationalism or ethnic identity or tribalism that is built around an ‘us’ and a ‘them.’”He was referring to various incidents of bigotry in the United States since the election of Donald Trump as well as the controversy over Steve Bannon who has been running the very nasty "Breitbart News" since Breitbart's 2012 death. Bannon says the publication is: "virulently anti-establishment, particularly 'anti-' the permanent political class."  However, it publishes material which seems to me and others to be misogynist, xenophobic, racist and white nationalist.  In other words really stupid and often disgusting. My concerns with secession are:* making it nonviolent* making it individual liberty and community-based not "states rights" of existing states-based* replacing majority rule representatives democracy (which always leads to elite rule) with supermajority/direct democracy which is less susceptible to elite and "majority" rule * not forcing anyone to join an entity they do not want to join* and minimizing "crude nationalism/ethnic identity /tribalism", the topic of this blog entryHere is a February 2008 blog entry from my former blog "Secede and Survive" at VermontCommons. It has now transitioned to  Called "Secession and Sectarianism" it is about the dangers of this topic in organizing secessionist movements.Secessionists face the problem of sectarianism both from the most rabid unionists who oppose secession on ideological grounds and, contrarily, from those who support it as a means of advancing and even imposing their sectarian agenda, be it racial, ethnic, religious or ideological. Concern about distrust, bigotry, sectarianism exploding into separatist violence is legitimate because throughout history such divisions have erupted into violence, sometimes among ever growing numbers of factions.Recent examples are sectarian divisions in Yugoslavia throughout the 1990s, in Rwanda in 1994 and especially in Iraq after the 2003 United States invasion. So it is very important to build a secessionist movement that recognizes and has strategies for dealing with sectarianism.Sectarianism is always a threat. Even the smallest states in the United States will have a variety of political, economic, regional, religious, ethnic, racial and other groups envisioning very different alternative institutional structures. It’s certainly possible that as secession catches on even Vermont could see splits among anti-capitalist anarchist, right wing Christian separatists, laissez-fair middle class libertarians, gated community Republicans, and whatever other local Vermont groups and networks might exist. And if the most aggressive and violent males in each faction [...]

Liberals already talking secession...

Sure glad I'm not a Hillary supporter or I'd REALLY be pissed about the woman abusing and molesting slime bag Donald Trump being elected President. (Though it is a relief not to have to hear about Bill Clinton for the next four years.)  I feel sorry for Melania Trump.  She just wanted to be quiet Eurotrash enjoying wealth and fashion in the USA -  and now she'll be the butt of sexist jokes for years.I'm going to try not to do TOO many new nasty Trump memes (they're all over my twitter account), but latest vent...And yes, two liberals have told me they now support secession.  Interesting times... Guess I'll have to wake up now and not go back to saying I'll get organizing some day. Update on hour later: And so #PresidentTrump related #Secession talk begins. Here and here. Update next day: Well, I didn't make the DC protests, though a few of us are planning a feminist protest in the near future. And just for anyone who comes along some day and says I never protested Bill Clinton, here's the proof.  A similar photograph from March 25, 1999 was published on the inside cover of an alternative media magazine. Here some from Bill Clinton protests I attended and even helped organize in 1998 and 1999. (Soon to be moved to another link in new wordpress setup.)[...]

Secessionism about to blow up again...

In this December 2012 blog entry about post-2012 election "secessionist developments" I noted that jump in (mostly "right wing" secessionist activity after Obama was elected in 2012.  Remember all those White House on-line petitions? I wonder if they'll bother to do it again. Somewhere I summarized the secessionist sentiments of some liberals when George W. Bush was re-elected in 2004 and those of "right wingers" when Obama was first elected in 2008. That's six presidential elections in a row, if the trend continues. (2000/4/6/8/12/16)I did find some comments I wrote about the same phenomena in 2000:During the six weeks that the 2000 Presidential election remained contested, Republicans contemplating the prospect of Al Gore “stealing” the election from George Bush openly talked of secession. A New York Times reporter writing on this “secession” impulse agreed:” It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the [Presidential] race was about a cultural divide in American life.” Walter Williams noted: “Irreconcilability faces us today. There's one group of Americans who does not wish to bother anyone but wishes to be left alone. Another group of Americans wants to plunder and control the lives of others. This latter group of Americans shows no sign of letting up, much less retreating. A return to rule of law and constitutional government or separation are the only peaceful solutions.”One interesting thing I've noted here and there is pundits talking about, and me thinking about, how much of the cultural divisions in all nations are between conservative rural areas and more liberal urban ones.  Another reason for radical decentralization down to the community, county or city level. Of course, my ten year promise of updating to further these ideas still hasn't happened. Though I have learned wordpress and put a few sites up. Too much time screwing around with activism and Wikipedia and more activism, now a days mostly on line. And paying the rent.  I have this poster below on my wall. Must get organizing in person again!I'm assuming Hillary will win and we'll have more "right wing" secessionist activism, with Trump sticking his nose in it for as long as he can get publicity. Unless of course he IS Hillary's Manchurian Candidate and succeeded in helping her get elected. If Trump wins - I'll be out there rioting too! Or at least making videos of it all...  Unless I start cursing so loud I drop dead of a heart attack.  But it would make for some interesting left-libertarian secessionism - til Trump sends us all to the concentration camps!  Will update y'all...Meanwhile here's a few fun and relevant graphics collected over last 16 years.[...]

Declaration of Independence Dominates Debates AGAIN!!

Sure it's a subliminal message, but this was the third time the debate committee showed it, from a somewhat lower angle. They also had it behind the Vice Presidential debaters. (Who were so obnoxious I turned them off after 8 minutes.)  Maybe their set designer is a sneakily effective libertarian?? Or radical decentralist? Or anarchist?

Anyway, how many subliminal messages can one get before they become the DOMINANT one.  Trump's message: "i'm a tool who can grab all the #10 pussies I want." Hillary's message: "Yes, my husband is a bastard, but I'm stuck in the 1950s. How else could I make it to be president?"

2016 Presidental election: from sex assaults to nuclear war

Anyone who reads my 2016 election posts can see they are overwhelmingly about patriarchal sex, with patriarchal nuclear war a close second. Allegations that one candidate is a woman-demeaning sexual predator who would start nuclear war over a tweet, contrast with allegations that the other candidate enabled her sexual predator husband and is pushing for nuclear war against Russia. This 2016 presidential election is emblematic of the political degradation and self-destructive path of large patriarchal nation states. This week the focus has been on sexual assaults: who's the biggest sexual assaulter of women - Bill Clinton (and his allegedly enabling wife Hillary) or Donald Trump (and his possibly enabling wife Melania)? The big difference between the two couples is that Bill (and Hillary) deny the sexual assaults and Trump boasts about them!Much as I believe the allegations versus Clinton of flashing/groping/rape, I have to admit he's innocent until proven guilty. Hillary's enabling is not quite as clear, though I would not be surprised if it was true to some extent. Some good articles about Bill's alleged assaults on women and Hillary's denial and defense.1, 2, 3, 4. These have been around for more than twenty years.Released just this weekend was a 2005 tape of Trump on microphone confessing/admitting/boasting about sexual assaults: "I'm automatically attracted to beautiful [women]. I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. I just kiss, I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything — grab them by the pussy. You can do anything." As the New York Times wrote: "Why did a decade-old three-minute video provoke a sudden revolt by party officials against their nominee, an uprising that could very well destroy their chances of taking the White House? Because the glee with which he bragged about sexually assaulting women, by forcibly kissing them and grabbing their genitals, turned a boorish man into an outright predator."Yup. Trump already was known for his aggressive sexuality, frequently expressed poor regard for women, and several allegations of sexual assault, including rape of a girl who was 13 years old at the time. See Esquire and Huffington Post stories among others. So it is easy to assume Trump was being honest - for a change!Trump's initial apology did not deny predatory acts. He just said he regretted them... and Bill Clinton was worse! Relevant quote: "I’ve said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more than decade old video are one of them...I’ve said some foolish things, but there’s a big difference between the words and actions of other people. Bill Clinton has actually abused women..." (Evidently Trump thinks kissing and grabbing genitals is NOT abuse??)And then, of course, a tape was just released of Trump agreeing with the disgusting sexist radio yapper Howard Stern that Trump's daughter Ivanka is gorgeous. He even gives Stern permission to call his daughter a "piece of ass".1, 2  Just reinforcing the perception of Trump's sexual perversity. But then, during tonight's second presidential debate/townhall, after the moderator pushed and pushed him, Trump finally explicitly denied doing any kissing or genital grabbing or anything else. Oh, yeah, tens of millions of Americans believe him. (NOT!) (My meme take on it below.) It is sad to see women who Bill Clinton probably DID assault speak[...]
