In an era where artists all over the city are struggling hard to find affordable rents, the collective - one of the first to flee gentrification back in 2009 - is returning to the art scene that spawned it.

While photography technology advances weren't unique to the Nanaimo area, the Nanaimo Museum is featuring the local connections during its Capturing Christmas exhibit. The exhibit features cameras and historical photographs depicting Christmas or snowy scenes in Nanaimo from the museum's collection.

Carl Farran beat 1,000 other entrants to win the 2016 Isles of Scilly Photography Competition following an online vote. Mr Farran is a keen amateur photographer and his winning shot came from a trip earlier this year to the islands off the coast of Cornwall.

NASA's Cassini-Huygens orbiter has been on mission for nearly two decades and it's still delivering glimpses of Saturn that leave us in awe. The spacecraft, which is approaching its final phase, just sent back some glorious photos of Saturn's northern pole, and it's some of the most impressive space photography yet.

We've seen a few great online tools for learning how to use the manual settings on a camera before, but Photography Mapped is a new web tool that's worth playing around if you're new to manual photography. With the web app, you can adjust the lighting environment of a scene with a little helicopter, then from there, change your aperture, shutter, and ISO speed.

Some of the first ever photographs of Edinburgh, created in the nation's earliest studio, will take centre stage in the National Galleries of Scotland's programme of 2017 shows. Around 100 images created by David Octavius Hill and Robert Adamson at their studio on the capital's Calton Hill will be going on display next year.

This past weekend, photographer Geoff Conklin was playing around with newlyweds Louise Bowers and Stephen Marencik at their reception at the National Constitution Center in Old City. They did a little Mannequin Challenge for fun on Geoff's phone he realized that actually, Signers' Hall-the room in the museum where life-sized bronze statues of the nation's Founding Fathers live-would make a particularly clever venue for a full blown Mannequin Challenge.
