Earlier today on an alternate chat, AC hooked me up with a pretty nifty utility “brew install cheatsheet” – tells you all sorts of shortcuts the active window has registered. A “GREAT” way to learn.However, it doesn’t tell you text-editing shortcuts, which are as below.   option-left arrow move left one word option-right arrow move right one word control-delete delete accent to left option-delete back delete one word shift-option-delete foward delete one word (equivalent to option-del) option-up arrow move up one paragraph option-down arrow move down one paragraph

Delete all node_modules folders recursively on Mac

Modern node based dev has one big downside. LOTS and LOTS of disk space consumed with lots of node_modules folders. Here is a command to delete them (no biggie, you can always get them back with npm install .. as long as you are online and not on a terrible internet connection).

Download entire website for offline on Mac

Sometimes you want to download a whole website (don’t ask me why), here is how you do this on a Mac. First, do a brew install wget With wget installed, run this command and party - wget --recursive --no-clobber --page-requisites --html-extension --convert-links --restrict-file-names=windows -domains www.yourwebsite.com --no-parent www.yourwebsite.com/someurl .. and wait patiently! Boom, the whole site is on your disk. You can expand the above to download files of only specific extensions, for instance, download all mp4’s from some page on channel9.msdn.com etc. Cool huh?
