Product Review - Beaudex Kids

Tue, 27 Mar 2018 07:43:00 +0800

As a busy mum with 4 kiddos between 1.5year-old to 9-years old, I have started cutting down on doing product reviews to focus on our childcare and family life, home cooking, education, helping with hubby's administration site of the business and sharing informational articles on my FB fan page so I am only accepting and prioritizing products that can fit into our family dynamics (especially books on parenting or educational stuff, family products, something along those genre)! Today's post is my review on Beaudex Kids range of products. About the company/products: "We believe in providing the best for our children. As parents, we were seeking for a brand that appeals to the children A brand that would instill the importance of personal hygiene in them. We wanted products that were mild, gentle and safe for our children. We realised we were not alone in this search, and this inspired the creation of Beaudex Kids. Beaudex Kids is a wellness brand built on strong family values: honesty, dedication and community. Our products must not just be safe for children, they must be accessible too. Quality and affordability is foremost on our minds, as we set out to empower people to live happy and healthy lives." I received the following products for my review. Eye catching colour on each bottle with cute superhero illustrations that appeals to young children, for sure! FYI, the products are specially crafted to be mild, gentle and safe for children and there are free from paraben, SLE/SLS and soap. They are also developed using a combination of Oat milk, soymilk and rice milk to bring out the glow in our children's complexion. A quick feedback on the packaging of the products - I like the long slim nozzle on the bottles. You just need to lightly press with the palm of your hands to squeeze out the amount of liquid you required. The first product that my kiddos were so excited to try is the Bubble Bath. From time to time, our girls love playing in their bath tub and of course, I let them try this out and see how it goes. It smells good and made loads of bubble foam, which our girls enjoy playing with. I personally love the Yogurt Body Wash as it smells so so good! I know cos' I use it sometimes hahaha... The Hair Shampoo is great as well and cleans the hair thoroughly without leaving any greasy residue behind. A little dab of the shampoo is enough for the job and my kiddos' hair smells good after that! For the final product which is the Head-to-Toe Wash, I like a product that covers head to toe and the idea of one simple product that handles everything top to bottom so this is also regularly being use when my kiddos take their bath. In summary, a wonderful range of products that is suitable for children to use, one that us parents won't have to worry about chemical ingredients etc... I'm thankful that we have been given the privilege to try them out! At present, the products can be found in Bath & Kids, Lot S212, Second Floor (on the link bridge), 1Utama Shopping Centre. The products will be made available in major pharmacies and supermarkets in the near future. Do note that I received no monetary compensation for this review, I was provided with the products in order to facilitate my review. All opinions expressed in this post are my own. Book Review - Reading Success for Minecrafters: Grades 3-4

Fri, 23 Mar 2018 11:39:00 +0800

I have been cutting down on doing product reviews towards the last quarter of year 2016 to prepare for our coming 4th kiddo who was born in early November 2016 and I am currently only prioritizing reviewing products that can fit into our family dynamics (especially books on parenting or homeschooling stuff, family products, something along those genre) However, as busy as I am with 4 kiddos, home cooking, taking care of hubby's administration site of the business and swamped up with managing my FB page and blog, I just can't say no to reviewing good books! Reading is my passion and coupled with books that are of parenting, children, family or religion or educational genre, all the more I gotta say yes!  Title: Reading Success for Minecrafters: Grades 3-4Author: Sky Pony,‎ Brack Amanda (Illustrator)Publisher: Sky Pony Press; Workbook edition (October 24, 2017)ISBN: 978-1510730892Paperback: 64 pages Description from the product page: "This kid-friendly workbook features well-loved video game characters and concepts to reinforce the development of third and fourth grade reading skills laid out in the national Common Core State Standards. Colorfully-illustrated and high-interest practice pages and reading comprehension passages use diamond swords, potions, skeletons, zombies, and creepers to add an element of excitement to reading time. Skip to the pages that suit your child’s needs and learning style or start at the beginning and advance page by page—it’s up to you! As the workbook progresses, the activities become more challenging so that learners of all levels can enjoy an exciting, skill-building reading adventure. Perfect for Minecrafters who learn at all paces, Reading Success for Minecrafters is as fun as it is educational—and is just what a third or fourth grade learner needs to get ahead academically! This adventure series is created especially for readers who love the fight of good vs. evil, magical academies like Hogwarts in the Harry Potter saga, and games like Minecraft, Terraria, and Pokemon GO. "  We received the "Reading Success for Minecrafters: Grades 3-4" book which I had intended for our 9-year-old boy to use for his English reading materials. I have been giving him reading comprehension workbook to do everyday and this is something similar to what he has been doing so far, except, it is of his favourite Minecraft theme! Fun + learning = win-win! The book covers topic like prefixes, suffixes, synonyms, antonyms, reading comprehension where the child reads the short stories given and look for main ideas and details, identifying cause and effect, and sequencing and more! There are also answer keys at the back of the pages for reference. Overall, this is a fun and educational book to own especially if your child is an avid Minecraft fans. I totally recommend this book! The book is available at all major bookstores in Malaysia. I received no monetary compensation for this review, I was provided with a copy of the book in order to facilitate my review. All opinions expressed in this post are my own. Book Review - Lucie Goose

She has never met or spoken to another animal of any sort until... a wolf, bear and lion turn up on her doorstep and go Rraaaarrrrrr! She should start screaming. She should run away. But Lucie Goose isn't very good at being scared. What will she do?"  We received the "Lucie Goose" book which I had intended for our 4.5-year-old girl to read. She is an emerging reader at this point, still need to be read to and can understand simple words. So far, she has been regularly insisting I read this book to her before she takes her afternoon naps. I read to her from front to end and we enjoy the storyline. This is a funny and entertaining book about making friends and how all things work out well in the end. I like that Lucie Goose is not afraid of the things unseen / unknown and I reminded our girl that just because we have never seen or know something does not mean we have to fear it. I also taught our girl to be friendly like Lucie Goose and to always be polite and maintain good manners. Overall, this is a really nice book to own. A funny and quirky book about friendships and having good manners! I totally recommend this book! The book is available at all major bookstores in Malaysia. Angpow Story - Nasi Lemak

Thu, 08 Mar 2018 11:23:00 +0800

I have been sharing some of my favorite angpow pieces on an angpow collectors group in Facebook and some members have been telling me to continue sharing my memorable stories and so I thought, why not write it down, that way, our kiddos can read about it when they grow up next time, eh? For those of you who are not familiar or never heard of the words 'Angpow' (also known as 'ang pau', 'ang pao', 'angpau'), here is a quick definition: Angpow = Red Packet (filled with cash inside) given during festivals So for today's angpow story, it comes from this piece of lovely angpow: Take a good look at the yummylicious looking nasi lemak at the bottom right of the angpow. NASI LEMAK. I remembered even at young age, I fell in love with nasi lemak. Just love love love nasi lemak. When I was young (before 12 yrs old), my late mum will tapau (it means take-away in Cantonese) nasi lemak for my breakfast and I will patiently pour out the rice onto a big plate, flattened the rice with either my palm or the back of the spoon and then slowly cut the boiled eggs into small cubes and decorated the boiled eggs, kacang (ground nuts) and ikan bilis on the rice. (Sorry I don't eat vegetables back then so cucumber got chucked away ooopss..). Once done, my plate of nasi lemak looks like a gorgeous cake... which I lovingly 'cut' into slices and devoured slowly, 'slice by slice'... such a memorable experience... The best nasi lemak I have ever tasted in my life is the Indian lady stall right at the motorcycle parking in my old government flat last time. Have shifted out from there for 11 years, I don't know whether she is still alive or around or not. Her nasi lemak will always remain at number 1 in my nasi lemak top chart. Unbeatable. Number 2 would be the pakcik selling the nasi lemak in between the alleys at Jalan Bukit Bintang before HSBC building. The last I recalled, there are some Arabs restaurants in that area and it changed so much I can't recall much. Number 3 would be the nasi lemak from Village Park restaurant in Damansara Uptown. For those of you who think their nasi lemak is the best, nah.. it is number 3 in my list. For those of you who want to read the story about the coffee cup in this pic, I mentioned about a childhood memory on it too. You can read it on my angpow - kopitiam post. Anyway, thank you for reading my story today and I hope that my nasi lemak story will brings back happy memories to you too! ** Note: I have disabled the commenting feature on my blog engine thanks to all the spammers who happily spam my blog every day. Angpow Story - Wendy's

Wed, 07 Feb 2018 11:04:00 +0800

I have been sharing some of my favorite angpow pieces on an angpow collectors group in Facebook and some members have been telling me to continue sharing my memorable stories and so I thought, why not write it down, that way, our kiddos can read about it when they grow up next time, eh?

For those of you who are not familiar or never heard of the words 'Angpow' (also known as 'ang pau', 'ang pao', 'angpau'), here is a quick definition:

Angpow = Red Packet (filled with cash inside) given during festivals

So for today's angpow story, it comes from this piece of lovely angpow:

(image)

When I was pregnant with my first child, I had cravings for fast food and during that time, Wendy's first opened an outlet at Jaya One and hubby brought me there to try out the new restaurant. I ordered the chicken burger and fell in love with the meal! I had it so many times, averaging about 3 times a week, and ALWAYS ordering the same meal EVERYTIME. Hubby got so jelak but went along to accompany me hahaha...

As the months go by, we noticed the burgers are getting smaller, the condiments shrinking, the price increasing... so we changed to McDonalds, Carls Jnr and even Burger King. Anything to satisfy my fast food craving.

Until today I do miss eating Wendy's burger set but decided not to whenever I think of the price and portion wise.

Luckily first child is not a girl, else I think will be named as Wendy lol!!!

Cycling To Stay Fit And Healthy

Sat, 27 Jan 2018 13:06:00 +0800

We need to be physically active to remain fit and healthy to enjoy a good quality life. One of the many activities to stay fit and healthy is cycling. Outdoor cycling especially in the countryside, parks, or beaches can be fun and interesting where you can enjoy the nature around you and breathe in the fresh, clean air.

Cycling regularly is a great way to protect yourself from many serious health problems such as heart diseases, obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol level, etc. This low impact cycling is a healthy and enjoyable exercise for people of all ages. Cycling is fun, cheap and a great exercise to be enjoyed as a family and a great bonding for strong, healthy relationship.

Cycling does not require much physical skill. All you need to do is know how to balance and ride a bicycle. Pedalling uses most of your major muscle groups and is good for building up strength and stamina. You may start off with short distance rides and as you progress, you will be able to enjoy longer distances with uphill and downhill cruise included.

If you are staying near the beach, all you need is a beach cruiser bike with gears. You can check out the women’s beach cruiser with gears if you are looking for a women’s bike. These bikes come in different speeds. If you are a new beginner to biking, you will need to get some basic gadgets before you start your biking rides.

1.    A helmet to protect your head while riding. Choose a helmet that fits properly and comfortably.
2.    Proper cycling apparel to prepare for all weather such as waterproof jacket and pants if you live in an area that often rains. Those who intend to cycle in the night, it is very important that you buy cycling apparel with reflector.
3.    Get a good bike lock to keep your bike safe. Buy a good quality and durable bike lock, avoid going for cheap locks. You wouldn’t want to risk losing your bike after having purchased one of the expensive men’s cruiser bike.
4.    To enjoy safe riding on your bike, make sure to wear cycling shoes with good grip soles that are also good for walking.
5.    When you are out cycling, there is always a chance of a puncture in the tire. Always have a tire repair kit and pump with you.

With all the proper gadgets, you are now ready to enjoy a wonderful and fun cycling outing with your family or friends.

Ten Beauty Tips That Will Leave You Looking Alert And Refreshed

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 09:45:00 +0800

One of the unfortunate realities of life is that you can't always get a good night's sleep. Whether you stayed out too late with friends or you simply couldn't fall asleep, the last thing that you want is to have to walk around looking exhausted and worn out. The good news is, there are plenty of ways that you can give yourself a more refreshed appearance without having to spend a ton of time getting ready in the morning. Here are ten tips that you can use to look alert and refreshed no matter how tired you are: 1. Splash some cold water on your face. This tried-and-true technique works every time. The cold temperature of the water helps constrict the blood vessels in your face. This can tighten your skin and eliminate puffiness, instantly helping you look more alert.2. Address puffiness in the eye area. Puffy eyes are a dead giveaway that you didn't get enough sleep. You can counteract the problem by placing a spoon in the refrigerator for a few minutes. Then, put the back of the spoon on your eye area for a little while. The cold temperature will help eliminate the puffiness, leaving you looking more refreshed.3. Moisturize your skin. Dry skin can look dull and lifeless. Adding a good moisturizer after you wash your face can plump up the surface of the skin, making it look much healthier while at the same time reducing the look of wrinkles.4. Give your skin a milk bath. Although it may sound strange, one excellent way to refresh your skin is to soak a washcloth in a bowl full of ice cubes and milk. Ring out any excess moisture and then lay the washcloth over the surface of your skin for 5 to 10 minutes. This simple trick can make a real difference in your appearance.5. Brighten your face with white eyeshadow. When you don't get enough sleep, the area around your eyes can look dark and lifeless. You can brighten up this area by applying a small amount of white, shimmery eyeshadow to the inner corners of your eyes. 6. Hide dark circles. Invest in a high-quality concealer that you can use to camouflage any dark circles that show up under your eye area after not getting enough sleep. This page from Dore Aesthetics is also worth reading.7. Use an eyelash curler. Although it wouldn't seem like it would make much of a difference, curling your eyelashes can have a dramatic impact on how alert and awake you look. When your eyelashes curve upward, it makes your eyes look more open and awake. Be sure to apply a coat or two of mascara to further enhance the effect.8. Give your face some color with blush. When you are tired, your skin can look flat and lifeless. You can give it a little bit more color by applying a small amount of blush to the centers of your cheeks. Choose a shade that complements your skin tone and apply it lightly so that it blends naturally with your skin.9. Use lipstick to brighten up your face. A simple coat of lipstick can instantly make you look more pulled together. Best of all, when you wear a bright lipstick shade, it can draw attention away from your tired eyes, making people less likely to notice that you look exhausted.10. Use a refreshing facial spray periodically throughout the day. There are many facial mists or sprays on the market that are designed to reinvigorate the skin and to help your makeup last longer. Keep one of these sprays with you throughout the day and apply it periodically to instantly give your skin a boost.[...]

Hotel Review - The Straits Hotel & Suites

Wed, 15 Nov 2017 08:08:00 +0800

As a busy mum with 4 kiddos between 11 months old to 8.5 years old, I have started cutting down on doing product reviews to focus on our childcare and family life, home cooking, teaching kiddos, helping with hubby's administration site of the business and sharing informational articles on my FB fan page so of lately, I am only accepting and prioritizing products that can fit into our family dynamics (especially books on parenting or educational stuff, family products, something along those genre)! Today's post however is my first milestone in my years of doing product reviews! This ladies and gentlemen, is my first ever hotel review whoaa... About the hotel: "The Straits Hotel & Suites conveniently located in the heart of Historical City of Malacca and UNESCO World Heritage site. It is just 2 mins’ walk adjacent to shopping belt of Melaka where guest will enjoy easy access to shopping, entertainment, and dining destinations. This new Melaka Hotel offers 352 spacious of deluxe guest rooms and luxurious suites which feature contemporary design facilities to meet today’s modern lifestyle. Each deluxe and suites are fitted with large windows offering ample natural lighting with balcony and offers spectacular view of the ocean and town views, and distinctively equipped with complimentary WIFI access and in room safe." I received the invitation to review the hotel a few months earlier but we were only able to make our visit in early October 2017 as we have to wait for our older 2 kiddos to finish off their major extracurricular programme for the year as well as co-ordinate with our niece and nephew whom we brought along with our family to enjoy the hotel stay as well. It has been a couple of years since our family has last visited Melaka and it was a first trip to Melaka for our nephew and niece. We arrived at Melaka in time for lunch which we had in the town followed by a visit to the Taming Sari Tower as well as the Melaka Maritime Museum which is a replica of the Flor de la Mar, a Portuguese ship said to have been carrying loot plundered from Malacca when it sank off the coast of Malacca on its way back to Portugal. Weather was hot on the day we arrived, a change from the past few rainy days as I was told by one of the Taming Sari tower staff. We then proceeded to Waze our way to the hotel which surprisingly was near to where we were. We reached the hotel around 4.30pm. The hotel was just a few minutes' walk adjacent to the shopping belt of Melaka. Lots of eatery area nearby, 24-hour convenience stores can be seen as well. In fact, on the first night at the hotel, we walked about 100m behind the hotel to one of the many restaurants nearby - our favourite is Nyonya Makko which we always try to go to every time we come to Melaka. Reception staff were courteous and helpful to explain the terms and conditions of the hotel stay. We were given our room access cards and quickly made our way to our respective rooms. The access cards allow the guests to go to their respective floors only. You can also go to level 23 (where the infinity swimming pool, sky bar and lounge are located) and level 3 (restaurant) Pictures below are some of the rooms and facilities highlighted for your pleasure viewing. Our king-sized bed shown in picture below is clean and neat, mattress and pillows are comfy, I like the floor actually. A bit of a nice positive change compared to other hotels I've stayed in which are mostly carpeted. I am not really fond of carpeted floors in hotels as I feel they are not so clean and also hot as well as we encountered some negative experiences where we found broken glass pieces in some hotels at Port Dickson a while back. Anyway, I love the floors in our hotel rooms. Smooth, clean, cooling and easy on the eyes. Bathrooms -[...]
