Garmin 820 wrong map region

Wed, 13 Dec 2017 03:10:11 GMT

On Black Friday I got a great deal on a Garmin 820 from one of the UK retailers with free shipping to USA. I just got it and it is the UK version with European maps. Should I try uploading local free maps from OpenStreetMaps or return it? If I keep it will I notice the difference? This is my...

Maybe Shutter Precision isn't so great after all

Fri, 08 Dec 2017 17:41:26 GMT

I've had a Shutter Precision dynamo hub for almost three years now; I'm on my second one actually. The first one lasted about two years. On the second winter, I noticed the hub would freeze in the cold. It felt like I was squeezing the front brake, but a little brute force would loosen it up....

Suunto's new watch face looks nice

Fri, 08 Dec 2017 16:34:04 GMT

Image: https://media.dcrainmaker.com/images/2017/10/DSC_4501-720x480.jpg The line around the top is supposed to be when the sun is up, the gray blocks on either end represent twilight. That doesn't really jive with the sunrise and sunset times displayed here, hopefully it's a beta unit. I...

Polar Announces Open API for App Access to Polar Flow

Fri, 08 Dec 2017 16:32:07 GMT

Probably nobody in here is going to be doing any programming against Polar's servers. However, they make bike computers, good ones from what I hear, that are priced attractively compared to Garmin units. Opening their API means there may be more useful apps and products for Polar users. ...

Rear light that can be mounted on rear stays

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 21:26:08 GMT

I'm trying to keep the look of one of my bikes 'clean' by not adorning it with too many accessories. I have a front light but need a new rear light. However, I don't want to mount the rear light on the seatpost. I'm after a discreet rear light with more flexible mounting options that could be...

Pairing Garmin 800 with cadence sensor

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 19:57:04 GMT

Just purchased the new speed and cadence sensor from Garmin. Tried to pair it with my Edge 800 - separately as I should. I can get the speed sensor to work, but not the cadence. I have removed the speed sensor from the room, but still nothing. Is there a way to test the cadence sensor to see it...

Wahoo Bolt app question

Mon, 04 Dec 2017 15:37:46 GMT

I use the Bolt and love it. But I started noticing my phone randomly searching for the Bolt throughout the day even when Bolt is off and away. Any way to turn this off?

Topeak Ridecase mount adapter...

Mon, 04 Dec 2017 14:15:47 GMT

So I was at REI and saw a Topeak Ridecase system for an iPhone 6 in the clearance bin and grabbed it. I have an iPhone 7 and figured I could dremel the case and make it work. I purchased it, took it home and the more I looked at it the more I realized I like the mount but hate the case. I then...

NiteRider Lumina 750

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 22:44:04 GMT

I have two of these headlights. They BOTH, look as if they have been fully charged. Because the On/Off button goes from Red to Blue on the USB cable. Except, one of them will not turn on after I have taken it off the USB cable. It stays Red when I press the On/Off button. Any ideas?

Garmin 820 Battery Life

Sat, 02 Dec 2017 13:06:10 GMT

I've had a Garmin 829 for a little over a year. I've always had good battery life, even doing a 134 mile ride without losing the battery. Lately, my battery has gone down very quickly, losing about 25% per hour. It started when it got cold around here. I have had some changes in settings &...

ELEMNT Bolt calibration with Quarq

Thu, 30 Nov 2017 00:18:35 GMT

when I calibrate my quarq dzero with my elemnt bolt I get a 5 digit number. Today it was 64766. When I was using a Garmin it was always around 700. Quarq says the number should never be more than 1000 (pos or neg). Does the 64 represent something else? Thanks.
