My father's best man, Sylvester "Doc" Kennedy, was an engine man on the USS Grunion when it sank, Dad saved everything from his youth but never shared it with his sons. I was going through another box of photos recently and came across three photos of Doc. One in his whites holding a Springfield at port arms, another as young man probably a graduation picture from high school and a very salty photo with his engineer's hat. Is there any interest in having copies of these photos? Bob Juettner

I am a nephew of John Harrison Wells being a son of Leatha Wells Roush! I am too young to remember uncle Jude but my eldest sister still living, Harriet Willick of Florida, remembers him well. I am proud of my uncle and glad it was finally revealed what happened to him and his submarine. my mother passed away in 1992 not knowing what happened. RIP Mom and Uncle Jude both!

Sam was my dad's first cousin. They enlisted in the Navy together & were sworn in together out in Richmond, Virginia. They went thru basic training together out in Norfolk. Daddy spoke highly of Sam throughout his life. He always told me when I was a boy that Sam should have never went on that submarine. Daddy still spoke of Sam even when dementia had clouded his mind. Thanks Sam for your service & sacrifice

" Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country" This was a typing exercise in high school days and it expresses what service is. The men of the Grunion and countless millions of others did just that when they took the enlistment oath to protect the United States of America during WWII. Today we remember and honor their dedication to the preservation of this great country. " Attention on deck, USS Grunion SS216 , departing" Ken Robinson reunion committee USS York County LST1175
