Comment on A Christmas post – does the star of Bethlehem belong to satan or God? by Cheryl Schatz

Sat, 17 Feb 2018 04:01:31 +0000

Drew, My blog has moved to https://mmoutreach.org/wim/2008/12/03/a-christmas-post-does-the-star-of-bethlehem-belong-to-satan-or-god/ If you have further comments please post them there. Regarding the first question: The birth of Jesus was predicted in the Old Testament and God announced it on the day that Jesus was born to shepherds who were led to where Jesus was at His birth. Regarding the comment on the star, the Magi said that they saw His star in the east. The Bible does not say that the star led them to King Herod.
Matthew 2:2 2 “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”
It was King Herod who sent them to Bethlehem and on the way to Bethlehem the star that they saw in the east (not in Jerusalem) led them to the place where the child Jesus was.
Matthew 2:9 9 After hearing the king, they went their way; and the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them until it came and God kept Herod from finding Jesus, but He did not keep the Magi from finding Jesus. God led the Magi. God did not lead Herod. I hope this help. 1 Timothy 2:14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. 1 peter 3:7 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered. According to scripture Eve was deceived. And is the weaker vessel. Why is that so difficult for you? 1 peter 3:5-6 For this is how the holy woman who hope in God used to doing themselves, by submitting to their own husbands, Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord. And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything this is frightening. Blessings

The star led them to King Herod first, whom was in Jerusalem! Then it steered them directly to where Jesus was. While sleeping, God intervened and gave better instructions than a worldly king would. *Moderator edited to remove JW preaching*

Thank you, Cheryl. Im trying to work out my understanding on this topic, myself. I've a friend who's a husband that tends to believe along the lines of what you're saying here. But he's unsure now because His wife actually demands that he be her covering. If a serious disagreement arises, there is an exchange of angry words and tones at first. From what I see, it's nearly always he that chooses to put aside his anger first. When he asks that they calm down and talk together, I've watched her refuse with the following awkward and very shocking response: "You are supposed to be my covering. That isnt possible until you restore the covering!" This seems like total hypocrisy either way you slice it. Although he does get angry and speak harshly at times, he also calms down, apologizes, and requests they talk together. However, she stays rude, nasty, and disrespectful in her words, tone, and mannerisms. She remains unwilling to talk things out and baffles him with her request for this mysterious "covering" which he doesnt understand. All in all, it appears very childish. If it's true that her husband is to be her covering, then the other half of that teaching is also true, and she'd need to get back under "submission" so as to be "covered". In which case she should honor her husband request to talk it out. In witholding kindness and mature behavior as a ransom for his providing a "covering" - isnt she stepping into a role of control, herself - an assertive and manipulative kind - and therefore stepping out of the covering he is actually trying to provide by calling for a truce and conversation? On the other hand, if this is incorrect, and her covering is Christ-alone, wont He continue to hold her-alone directly responsible for her immature and manipulative behavior, rather than my friend for not "covering" it for her? You quoted several scriptures to support your assertion that the "covering" concept is untrue. Thank you so much for that, but I was dssapointed that you didnt address what seems to me to be the highest contributing sctipture to this mindset, 1 Peter 2:25 - 3:7. These verses appear to blatantly contradict the thrust of what you've written here, and give thrust to a different interpretation of all the other verses you quoted. I'm not suggesting that a husband is the wife's "covering". But i have been troubled about the structure of marriage for a long time. I would like to lay this issue to rest within myself, and had hoped to find the answer in this article, but I cant purposefully ignore one part of scripture while embracing another. Can you please shed some light on how these verses ought to be interpreted in a manner that coincides with what you've written here? Thank you again for your time in writing this and rwading my commwnt, and also for your much-awaited response!

Women know that God placed a man over you to provide and protect. That's God gift and don't let other take that from you becaus they want to be in command. God created an order God man and woman. Just as Christ and the church. Order! That's what wrong with the world no order, we become so smart that we become blind to the truth.

From memory i remember reading how the wise men were a very strong troop of God inspired men - strong enough to face up to a KING - namely Herod. They had to be numerous and strong enough so as to come into close contact with an EVIL King and his Kingdom and not be killed. These men were as i learned - taught and prepared by non other than DANIEL!! from centuries before hand. As others mentioned - the purpose was to provide for GOD's only Begotten son who had been transfered through God's own miracle - into the Virgin Mary. Jehovah's Witnesses have taught many accurate things but they have also taught many false teachings - to take God's name and call your self his witnesses and then make prediction upon prediction that porove to be false - i am sorry but that is a terrible sin!! What prediction?? - to save any confusion - i will name just 2 - They claimed the 2 witnesses in the Bible account of the end times - was non other than their "special" leaders alive in 1918 or around that time - that was nonsense but they were revered as such by those who took that in. Then the 2nd one out of many - was the "this generation alive in 1914 will not pass away before the conclusion of the entire world system of things." Alot of followers fell away in 1985 due to that false claim!! You see 1985 was 1914 + the important 70 years and then one more year - meaning it did not come to be as they said it would. Now i am sorry but you cannot get it so wrong so many times and still claim to be God's visible organisation here on Earth. You missed the true event you needed to watch for because it didn't fit the JW account - the Reformation of the nation Israel!! The generation alive that will by no means pass away before the conclusion of the entire world system of things - is the generation from 1948. I did wonder if it might be 1967 when Jerusalem was reclaimed but the thing is it was the fig tree - which is Israel!! We are living in very illustrious times. (Revelation 22:10, 11) 10 He also tells me: “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, for the appointed time is near. 11 Let the one who is unrighteous continue in unrighteousness, and let the filthy one continue in his filth; but let the righteous one continue in righteousness, and let the holy one continue in holiness.

The 1Corinthians 7 text is revolutionary it emphasizes mutualism all through the paragraph. The idea that a mans body belongs to the wife, that her sexual needs are being recognized and her husband has a responsibility to meet them. The in verse 5 συμφώνου, symphonoo, and if there is going to be a temporary time for the contemplative it's not some male arbitrary unilateral decision it's a symphony, a harmony of two bodies, soma, two souls, psyche, two pneuma, two spirits. This idea marriage for two thousand years was compared to the περιχώρησις, perichorisis, the Sacred Dance, the Trinity. An early church heresy in the church regarding the Trinity was hierarchicalism. There is no Hierarchy in the trinity, it's a sacred dance and symphony of balance, and equality and marriage is symbiotic two sides of the same coin to separate does damage to both. Husbands and Wives dance your dance and celebrate your symphony.
