I find it amusing that the folks here are so judgemental. Judging a book by its cover? For those of us who have been inundated with low carb, low fat, low this, low that; this concept offers a way out of the jungle. Yes losing weight is basic math but the good doctor offers formulations based on your weight that makes it much more real. It's good that she took all of those years of research and wrote a book. She could have just continued to take government money and did nothing. I have read the book cover to cover and found it refreshing, clean & simple. It's not a "fad diet" that is hard to sustain. It's a system to guide you along the way of making good food choices. Nothing is "bad" to eat but by making "better" choices for the same amount of calories you get more food on your plate and a fuller stomach. I always like a bigger bang for my buck and someone gracious enough to show me the way.

I have just recently read this book. It's more of an Eating Plan, rather than a "diet". Yes, it doesn't really have any new or revolutionary finds, but it is well written and well researched. It makes sense. Fad Diets and Miracle Pills give false hope that weight loss can be fast and easy. We ALL know that is NOT true. Even if we can't say it out loud, we carry the hope. It's just not going to happen. Losing weight takes time and dedication. Commitment (that awful word). You WILL lose the weight when YOU, YOURSELF take responsiblity. When it's your time, you will know and you will do it. For you. No one else. The ideas contained in Volumetrics, along with some type of exercise program is a guarantee for success. Everyone is different. You can incorporate different ideas into an eating plan that will work for YOU. I recommend this reading this book.

Dieting isn't rocket science. Eat fewer calories per day than you use up per day and you WILL lose weight. You may lose faster or slower than the other guy but eventually it will come off. These fad diets just give people excuses for being oveweight. "I tried the popcorn diet, atkins, south beach, etc..... and nothing worked. Maybe it's my genes? Yeah that's the ticket. I can't lose weight because of genetics." Horse squeeze.
