Wright family of Loachapoka Alabama

2018-01-31 12:58:39Z

I am researching the Foss family in UK and US and especially Christian Alexander Foss who married Eunice Wright (of Loachapoka Ala) who lived at Inland Farms, Loachapoka , Ala. She married Chris (from UK ) in Pasquotank (Ind?) probably in the '20s.
Any help gratefully accepted. Please access my tree "SNELLING Tree".

Re: Please Help Find Clifford Ward !!! VERY IMPORTANT!

Hi,

Rosa can order a copy of Robert's birth certificate from the Department Public Health since she is his mother. You won't find that document online because Alabama considers birth records confidential for 125 years from date of birth.

His father's name will be on it or the father's name might be blank.

If it's blank, you'll have to use DNA to identify the father.

Ronald Douglas Ward
Residence: Hartselle, Alabama, usa
Died: 1 Dec 2011

Rosa can order a copy of his death certificate from the Department of Health because she's his mother.

I'd contact the Etowah Historical Society, www.etowahhistory.com/library.htm and the Gadsden Public Library, www.gadsdenlibrary.org/reference/reference.html for a copy of his obituary.

Re: Wright family of Alabama

2018-01-09 20:27:30Z

Hi,

I did a search for Benjamin Wright marrying in Mobile County, alabama in 1840 and only found your Benjamin. The actual doc is in FamilySearch but there are no parents on it.

I'd look for their newspaper marriage announcement to find their parents names. Elephind, www.elephind.com and Library of Congress, Chronicaling America, www.chroniclingamerica.loc.gov are good choices.

Since Benjamin married in Mobile County, I'd look there for their parents.

I'd look for Thomas's marriage record and newspaper announcement and for his newspaper death notice.

Look for old, historical books about the counties they lived in too.

The net, net is that they aren't going to be easy to find. Successful Searching!

Seeking descendants of David Webb Hurst (1886-1938) & Marion Semmes Hurst (1896-1942)

2017-11-26 16:38:18Z

PLEASE see my Ancestry SMITH Tree for the developing details:

Through various records (especially Find a Grave and newspapers.com) I know that descendants may bear surnames: HURST, HILL & FRANCO and most likely live in the Montgomery County area.

The WEBB ancestor for these people was:
Conrade Webb (1808 VA - 1886 Macon Co., AL)
His wife was Eliza Ann Thompson (1812 SC - 1895 Macon Co., AL)
Eliza m1) Wm Read/Reid/Reed

Conrade Webb's home in Macon Co., AL was called "Ingleside" I am trying to determine exactly WHERE "Ingleside" was.

An 1884 ["The Tuskegee News" Thu, Dec 11, 1884] newspaper article has "FOR SALE"--- "house and lot in Tuskegee now occupied as a residence by Col. Conrade Webb" I am not YET convinced that this was/is "Ingleside"(?)

More likely (at least in my mind) is a place identified as:
"WEBB CEMETERY" Shorter, Macon County, Alabama
Location: "Old Webb Place"
1930 Owner: Webb Hurst, Tuskegee, AL [Might this be David Webb Hurst?]
"3 miles from Tuskegee (Macon Co.,AL) on the Atlanta-Montgomery Hwy"
3 SOURCES:
(1) p6 of alabamamaps.ua.edu/cemetery/text/Macon.pdf
(2) ADAH 1930 unpublished typed manuscript "Cemeteries - Macon County, Alabama, 1802-1930" ALAV2000-B87 929.50976149.
(3) p18 of Ella Webb Stanley's Oct 1918 book OCLC=16568585 ["History of the Webb and Cocke Families of Virginia"] has Sadie Pollard Webb & Benajah B. Hurst "live at the old homestead, 'Ingleside' in Macon County, Ala." That would have been before the publication on Oct 1918. Some time after that and by 1930, Sadie's son, David Webb Hurst became the owner of Ingleside(?)

I highly "suspect" Conrade, Eliza, and some of their family members are buried in the Webb Cemetery. The 2nd referenced SOURCE above has: "All that remains of this cemetery is a huge brick vault which has fallen to pieces, There are no markers."

Copies of their full obits are my SMITH Tree (check their Galleries)
1) Conrade's 1886 obit: "departed this life at Ingleside, his home in Macon county" Conrade's lengthy and glowing obit has: "A few years after the war (Civil War=my "add") he removed to Macon County, where he established "Ingleside," a typical Virginian homestead..."
Eliza's 1895 obit: died "at her home near Shorters"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope that there are descendants who can help "fill in some of the blanks" I feel that Conrade and Eliza are bound to have had portraits done that may still exist with their descendants(?)
It surprises me that there don't seem to be any digital family trees with Conrade & Eliza Ann Thompson WEBB recorded. I hope and pray one of the HURST line will see this and respond.
Respectfully,
Sally
Conrade Webb b 1808 VA - Creek Indian War pension - where are the applications?
2017-11-09 23:49:29Z
I now know: Conrade Webb d before 29 Oct 1892 and his wife, Eliza Ann Thompson m1) Read Webb d after 29 Oct 1892
CREEK INDIAN WAR – Widow’s 1892 Pension Application.
Thank you, Judy Artley, for finding the attached index card for me!
NOW, I need to locate the copies of the actual Application #2394.
I will check at the ADAH [AL Dept of Archives and History next week]
Has anyone else out there tracked down Creek Indian War pension applications?
Did you find them at the NARA or at a State Archives? Can you please suggest a contact?
My numerous searches online have not been helpful to date.
Respectfully,
Sally
Research trip to the Alabama Archives
2017-09-18 17:20:41Z
I am planning a last minute (next week) research trip to the Alabama Archives and Autauga Alabama. My goal is to try to find out if my husband's ggg grandfather John Booth is the illegitimate son of Thorogood Blackwell. He and his brothers are listed in the will as 'equal heirs with my lawful children' and each received a share of the estate equal to the 'lawful' children.
I have not done any onsite research except at the FHL in Salt Lake. Does anyone have any tips or ideas of things I need to prepare ahead of time? I do have the microfilm numbers that detail the probate records. THANKS!
Ronald Douglas Ward - Oct 17, 1936,37,38. Rosa Nell Faulkner (mother) b. May 15, 1920.
2017-09-13 15:42:14Z
**I desperately need birth record information for a "Ronald Douglas Ward" or "Ronald Douglas Faulkner" born on Oct 17 1936,37,38 - birth given by Rosa Nell Faulkner - IF applicable. Read further for details!
My dad's dad, My grandfather Ronald never met his biological father and none of us know anything about him because his mom never wanted to talk about it because she was 16 at the time of my papa's birth and supposedly the man was 26. I don't know much, and what I do know may be incorrect but I really need help on this please! I have this mans last name yet I don't know anything about that side and that's something I would really like to know, especially seeing as how everyone in alabama is related somehow. I'd hate to go on a date with a close cousin and not realize it! (hehe.)
Here is what I do know.
Rosa Nell Faulkner b. May 15 1920 in Alabama (Could be either Etowah or Marshall counties. She currently lives in Albertville -)
- (family story) at 16, Nell had a baby with a man who was 26, ten years her senior. She named the baby Ronald Douglas , born October 17, 1936, 37, or 38. ( One of the three) and continued to live with her parents, Millie and Harvey Faulkner. The biological father, who has not been POSITIVELY identified, was said to be a Clifford Ward. He was not apart of the baby's life.
*** Information I have heard about CLIFFORD WARD from family members:
He was Clifford Ward born in 1910 in Gadsden, AL. (That is all I have and that may not even be correct. The name may even be incorrect but Ward is my last name because My grandfather (Ronald) Was given the last name Ward.
- I found a census from 1940 that states everyone living in the household of Harvey and Millie Faulkner, it mentions Rosa Nell Faulkner age 20, Divorced (never married) and working as a clerk.
- It also lists a RONALD FAULKNER --- NOT Ronald Ward. The census people were given Rosa Nell's maiden name as her son Ronald's last name. I can't find anything with the name Ronald Faulkner in alabama either aside from that right there. At the time of this census, he was 3 -
- Says in 1997 Rosa Nell Faulkner died and is buried with husband L.P. Johnson but Nell Johnson (now) never died. Her late husband Louis Pikney Johnson died in 1997 and she was listed as deceased as well because the graves are pre-marked right beside one another, but she is still alive and well. -- diabetes for the past 40 years and in a wheel chair but still alive and in her right mind, but no one can get her to talk about this.
ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!
THANK YOU !!!!!!
I really hope any of you can tell me what you find!
Please Help Find Clifford Ward !!! VERY IMPORTANT!
2017-09-13 15:36:46Z
Guys, this is so very important to me and my family. My dad's dad, My grandfather Ronald never met his biological father and none of us know anything about him because his mom never wanted to talk about it because she was 16 at the time of my papa's birth and supposedly the man was 26. I don't know much, and what I do know may be incorrect but I really need help on this please! I REALLY need to know! If any of you research and geaneologist specialists could help me, I'd be so grateful! This mystery has plagued our family for generations and our last name might not even be ward. I do know that my dad said that CLifford Ward was said to be on papa's birth certificate but Ronald (papa) passed away in 2012 so there is no way of knowing that for sure.
Please help me find my heritage! The birth certificate of Ronald Douglas Ward (Faulkner?) Would be the best thing if i could see a copy or get my hands on it... for the date of Oct 17, 1936 - 1937 - or 1938.
One more fact. Clifford Ward supposedly reached out to Ronald (papa) when he was older and had kids of his own but my papa said he didn't want nothing to do with him. My grandmother, Ronald's wife told me this. She said Clifford caleld the house once but My grandmother is a tall teller so there's no telling if this is true or not.
ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!
THANK YOU !!!!!!
I really hope any of you can tell me what you find!
Wright family of Alabama
2017-09-04 16:40:23Z
I am searching for the Wright family of Alabama.Specifically, Thomas A Wright born 1827 who my wife is a descendant of.
I have found who I believe is his brother Benjamin born 1823 and his wife Sarah born 1824 in the 1850 Coahoma County Mississippi Census.
There is a Thomas Wright living with him. Both Thomas and Benjamin H Wright were born in Alabama.
I found a marriage document of a Benjamin H Wright and a Kentucky born Sarah A Roane Jan 15 1840 in Mobile Alabama, could be the same Benjamin? Thomas is then found in the 1860 Arkansas Census married to Nancy with a son William.
I am trying to find where in Alabama Thomas and Benjamin are from and who there parents are.
Any information about this family you can find would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry, I never got a notice you answered my post. I am in Wisconsin, and in the process of starting a website or book on all the country singers that were popular in Wisconsin and Milwaukee during the 1960's. A lot of people, including my mom talked about Hoot. Was very popular. I am looking for an obit on Hoot, also a old black & white photo of him. Will pay!
Talked to a couple of his former band members(Gene Tesch) who have been a big help.
My Alonzo J. Morgan was shot and killed in 1896 near Carthage, TX. He was married to Amanda M. Jones and at his death, left 7 children of which one is my grandmother. Their first child, William Alonzo Morgan, was born July 1879.
You do note three possibilities in ancestry and the one, Joseph Morgan of the 1880 census living with his mom and dad is one I'm going to explore.
Re: family tree for Sanders / Walker
2016-02-14 19:34:29Z
I’m not related to any member of this family.
Census records do not record the “specific locality” of a person’s birth.
Census records only record where a person was born – state or country.
Census records record where a person was living when the census taker came by.
1940 is the last available census at this time.
You have provided very little info for Emmer Sanders.
Need his DOB + birthplace [state] + race also need DOB + birthplace [state] + race for Mary E. Walker.
Is "EMMER" a nickname??? What is his given name ????
WHEN [year] did Emmer marry Mary???
I have copies of letters from Annie Jane Jernigan (Peak). Husband was known as Red Peak.
Harvey was a son of my great-great grandfather, James Silas Jernigan.
The family is one big mystery all around. My Y-chromosome is Chandler not Jernigan. How did that happen?
Solomon Thompson (5 Mar 1793 - 17 Apr 1848) & Sarah R Carter (b 1800/01 d 25 May 1843-1850)
2015-07-01 21:48:20Z
I'm researching the James H & Milly Carter line in early Montgomery Co and last night I wandered off on the family off on their daughter, Sarah R, and her husband Solomon Thompson.They married 20 Aug 1821 in Montgomery Co, AL and I've enumerated them on both the 1830 & 1840 Montgomery Co, AL census.The 1830 census is pretty straightforward:1 m 30-39 [1791-1800; Solomon 5 Mar 1793]1 f 20-29 ]1801-10; wife Sarah R Carter]1 m 5-9 [1821-25; unknown 1st son]1 f 5-9 [1821-25; unknown 1st daughter]1 m <5 [1826-30; 2nd son Walton Greerer Thompson 25 Feb 1828]BUT by 1840 they've got teenagers with them who weren't there in 1830, so I stayed up until 3 a.m. this morning trying to get this figured out. It helped that Solomon & many of his children are buried at Antioch Cemetery & pics of their headstones are online. And I was particularly glad that the children's burials were written "second daughter of", "second son of", "3rd son of and twin of", "6th son of".At this point, I've got Solomon & Sarah R Carter Thompson's children as follows & would greatly appreciate input if anyone has something different:1. 1st Son Thompson b 1821-25 per 1830 census2. 1st Daughter Thompson b 1821-25 per 1830 census3. Walton Greerer Thompson b 25 Feb 1828 d 17 Apr 1832 per 1830 census & 2nd son per Antioch Cem tombstone4. Elizabeth Mahala Thompson b 17 May 1832 d 14 Mar 1834 2nd daughter per Antioch Cem tombstone6. George Washington Thompson b 3 Apr 1834 d 5 May 1851 per 1840 census & 3rd son per Antioch Cem tombstone which also states he is the twin of7. Francis M Thompson b 3 Apr 1834 per 1840 census & 4th son per tombstone of twin George W.8. 3rd Daughter Thompson b 1831-35 per 1840 census9. 5th Son Thompson b 1836-40 per 1840 census10. Asa Carter Thompson b 27 Jul 1840 d 6 Nov 1849 6th son per Antioch Cem tombstone11. Moses Solomon Thompson b 22 May 1843 d 31 Jan 1849 7th and youngest son per Antioch Cem tombstoneWhat posed the problem on the 1840 census was the presence of the following individuals, all of whom should have been enumerated somewhere in 1830:1. 1 f 20-29 {1811-20]. Their first daughter was 5-9 [1821-25} on the 1830 census. Could this be her? Don't know.2. 1 m 15-19 [1821-25]3. 2 f 15-19 [1821-25]4. 1 m 10-14 [1826-30]Solomon owned 360.14 acres of land in Montgomery Co as best as I can tell. He owned 13 slaves in 1830 and 44 by 1840. And, sadly, despite all their wealth, his tombstone is the only one standing in Antioch Cemetery. The children's tombstones are all on the ground and their area appears to be in very bad shape. Would appreciate any & all comments/help you can provide.I will state up front that this is NOT my line. I'm a DAR member researching the ancestors of a childhood friend. These people are hers, but I've gotten VERY attached to them!! :-)If I've made any typos, they're due to lack of sleep & for that I apologize in advance.Take care & looking forward to hearing from you!Thanks!Lisa in Louisiana[...]
I just saw your post. I thought Ancestry would notify my email when a message was posted but I guess not. Thanks for your help. I already have info on Joseph's parentage. I should have been more specific. I'm trying to determine his connection to Thomas J. Moorefield, if any. Joseph may be his father but I haven't been able to prove that. The other possibility for Thomas' father is William Moorefield, son of John Moorefield, Jr.
Hello!
I could not locate Pontio as well??? However Lizzie was born August 1895...I have in 1909 the family moved to Canada as her father or stepfather was a teacher. Lizzie had sisters (not sure of their order in age) but it was Betsy, Augusta, Minnie, and Williar. Lizzie's grandmother was Mary Running Bear (Choctaw). This is the only information I have regarding her younger years. I would love to more about them. Also, Mary...Lizzie's mom her middle initial is L., but I don't know a maiden name.
