Hi Bernice

I came across this post today while searching Thomas Wilcox. I believe Thomas is the sister of my great great grandmother Martha Wilcox.

Through my DNA test I had done earlier this year I have made contact with David Maclean who is a direct descendant of the Crozier family. Some folks don't think Thomas belongs to this family but we are almost certain he does.

I was wondering if you have had your DNA done and if so could we try and find out through that what the connection is.

my email is

Warm wishes from SEQld Australia.

Hi Candice, I hope you are still on here. I found your Arthur Crozier on the 1921 census but he was still in Ontario at Flamboro, Greensville. Lloyd in 1921 census is living with his grandparents William Lloyd and his wife Elizabeth and daughter Olive. I think Lloyd's mom Ruth Lloyd must have died? My Mom Lois Speedie was a cousin of yours

Captain Francis Crozier Brothers

2016-07-06 12:40:09Z

There is evidence through family research that through my Grandfather on my mothers side Francis Duff's - Mother Mary A. Crosier that we are related to a brother of Francis Crozier name John Crozier. My late grandfather gave a us a picture of Captain Francis Crozier and said that he was our Great Uncle a few times removed. I have been looking around and have found no mention of John Crozier in any books or research on Captain Francis's Life. I know there were 7 girls and 6 boys and that research speaks of William, Graham and Thomas and a couple of the sisters. I was wondering if anyone has come across a John Crozier brother to Captain Francis Crozier??

Hi there. I am working on my family tree and I notice that many of my husband's family (Crozier) is matching up with yours. I was wondering if you could help me. I'm finding information that is either related to two separate Hugh Croziers or there is conflicting information about the same Hugh Crozer. Unfortunately, my husband doesn't have a lot of information therefore, I'm pretty much starting from scratch. I'm adding this inquiry to this message board as it seems that, if I'm on the right track, this is a great place to be! There is a Hugh Blair Brozier whose DOB per a WWI Draft registration is 1/6/1873. This HB Crozier married Neta Hoover on 3/6/1904 (but spelled with an "S" Crosier per the Monroe West VA marriage resource. There is a 1900 Federal Census saying Hugh Crozier/Crosier (handwriting) married to Cora S. in February 1877 in Tennessee and they had two children Paul Haskell and Charles. The different birthday years (1873 and 1876) is throwing me off. I need to make sure I pick the correct one because I'm trying to find Hugh Crozier's parents. I found a reference for Isabell Shires and L.P. Crozier having a baby Hugh Crozier in 1876. I need to make sure I pick the correct wife (maybe both wives are correct, two marriages), and I definitely need to make sure I pick the correct parents. So you know who I am: My starting point is Linda Pearl Crozier, daughter of Muriel & Kenneth Crozier, Sr., granddaughter of Paul Haskell Crozier, and great-granddaughter of Hugh Crozier (which one?). Thanks for any help anyone on this thread can provide.

Forrest Crozier - Zanesville, Ohio

2015-12-13 16:21:01Z

BELLEVUE, WA: Forrest "Pat" Crozier passed away on October 17, 2015, in Bellevue, Washington, with family at his side, after a short illness.

Pat was born in Zanesville, Ohio, on September 25, 1920, to Annetta Magdalena Henske and William Thomas Crozier.
He attended Lash High School, graduating in 1939.

Pat married Vivian L. Daringer in September 1943, and together they had four children, Camellia, Michael (deceased), Bradley and Marc.

A child of the Depression, Pat joined the CCC and spent most of that time in Idaho. His desire was to fly however, and eventually the opportunity came for him to become a Naval Aviator.
Pat served as Pilot in Command of a Coronado, a double-deck, four-engine flying boat with 16 crew members, escorting convoy ships in the Pacific.
He had many stories to tell of his exploits in Central America and the South Pacific. After leaving the Navy, Pat moved his family to Alaska, where he joined Totem Airways, flying the PBY Catalina flying boat throughout southeast Alaska. He was a skilled and careful pilot and once made, in an emergency situation before the days of high-tech guidance equipment, a memorable ground-controlled approach and landing with a 25-foot ceiling and one-eighth mile visibility.
Pat joined Northern Consolidated Airlines, flying out of Anchorage, when that company purchased one of Totem's PBYs. Later Northern Consolidated and Wien Air Alaska merged, and Pat flew as a Captain for Wien until his retirement.
When he retired at age 60, he was Wien's senior 737 Captain and the mentor to many junior pilots.

In 1965, Pat married Roberta Webster Rowe, who had four children: Terry, Susan, Blinn and Kimberly. They lived in the Turnagain area before moving to the Anchorage Hillside, and then, before retiring, they built a home in Renton, Washington.
Pat flew his own car to Seattle, Wash., on a 737 when they made the move south. Pat loved to travel anywhere, but his favorite spot was the island of Kauai, Hawaii, where he and Roberta spent many happy vacations.
He enjoyed classical music and opera as well as the music of Andre Rieu, Hawaiian singer - Alfred Apaka and Linda Ronstadt. Pat was also a fan of fine cars and Grand Prix racing.
He was the consummate gentleman, always dapper and sophisticated. He leaves seven children; 15 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren, and many wonderful memories.
As he wished, his ashes will join those of Roberta, his wife of 45 years, on beautiful Lumahai Beach on Kauai.

His father is buried in Greenwood cemetery, Zanesville, Ohio

Re: Croziers in Tennessee

2015-05-26 23:34:29Z

You cannot realize how excited I am to find this information. I used to spend a week every summer that we were in Oklahoma (I grew up in East Tennesse, in the same town where my great grandparents were married in 1901, Jefferson City, Tn. in Jefferson Co.) with her in Garber. I can still remember everything about that lovely little town. We never knew that she had 4 brothers, the only ones we knew were Bill and John. I did visit Margaret's house in Va. in 1959, when we took my greatgrandparents to a family reunion held there. I used to spend a lot of time with them and missed them dearly when they passed away within a month of each other. She raised my mother, Freda and was very dear to our hearts. I can give you all the information that I have about her and her children, if you want it. We just did not have any information about her mother and father. I also remember meeting Rose and Little Rose when they came to visit from Missouri. I have lots of pictures including one of the day they were married. I can scan and send if you want. I am going e-mail my aunt in Tennessee and send her this info. as she has been really anxious to find out anything about Grannie's family. Thank you, I guess this makes us cousins. By the way, where do you live? I live in Duncan, Ok and have for almost 30 years. I work in a library, have 5 children, and 11 grandchildren. One of my daughters looks a lot like the pictures that we have of Grannie when she was very young.
Let me hear from you again, please. Jacquie Wilmoth

I am descended from John Crozer, brother of Susanna Crozer who married Levi Pickering. I would love to see photos of any Crozer family members just to see what they looked like. Also would like what you have on Robert and Mary Crozer. Robert and Susanna were parents of John Crozer, who married Elearnor Bradfield, and they were parents of your Susanna, and my John Crozer. Of course you put this out here 12 years ago, no telling if anything will come of this contact. I sure hope so.

Crozier, a prominent and successful farmer of Rushville Township, Schuyler County, Ill., was born in the vicinity of Pleasantview, in the same township, March 5, 1859, and is a son of Richard and Sarah (Crozier) Crozier, natives of County Tyrone, Ireland. Richard Crozier came to American with his father, Richard, Sr., and the latter’s wife, sojourning for a while in Canada, and thence going to New York State and locating at Ithaca. His future wife, Sarah Crozier, accompanied her parents to the Unites States, the family also settling in Ithaca, and there she was married to Richard Crozier.About the year 1854 the young couple came to Schuyler County, Ill., making their home in Section 35, Rushville Township. In 1856 Richard Crozier moved to Bainbridge Township, buying seventy acres of land, and adding more from time to time, until he became an extensive landholder, owning 500 acres at the time of his death. He was one of the most successful farmers in his locality, and as his family grew to maturity, gave each a fine piece of land. He and his wife had five children, as follows: Helen Augusta, wife of Thomas L Strong, who owns part of the old homestead; Frederick, born in New York State, who dies when about three years old; Robert H.; Margaret F., wife of Roland M. He then bought forty acres of land in Section 15, Bainbridge Township, which in 1900 he sold and moved to his new purchase of 118 acres in Rushville Township. Since then he has made many attractive improvements on the place, especially on the dwelling, and has now a beautiful home, with spacious and substantial barns, and convenient outbuilding for the care of his stock. On January 30, 1890, Mr. Crozier was united in marriage with Anna M. Acheson, a native of Bainbridge Township, where she was born April 16, 1870. Mrs. Crozier is a daughter of William and Mary (Ward) Acheson, and particulars in regard to her father’s life may be found in a biographical record of Alexander Acheson, appearing elsewhere in this work. Mr. and Mrs. Crozier have had four children, namely: Mabel A., born January 1, 1891; Harry Earl, born November 15, 1893, deceased May 8, 1902; Clarice E., born June 11, 1899; and Sarah Elsie, born November 11, 1903. Monroe Crosier went to California early 1850's, Gold Fever I guess, Placer Co. CA was in San Quentin Prison until 1873. I'll tell you the rest when I hear back.

Re: eliz. crozier

2012-12-12 16:45:46Z

You are probably right about Sarah Elizabeth. The only other explanations for not returning to St Lawrence NY would be at 15 she could have married or been in service to another family. What is your connection to this family (Ruth Pierce and Monroe Crozier)? I don't have many details and some that I do have are obviously wrong. I'd love to learn more.

Re: eliz. crozier

2012-12-12 00:59:42Z

I think Sarah Elizabeth Crosier b. 1846, parents Monroe Crosier & Ruth L. Pierce, died as a child. Ruth was back in St. Lawrence Co. NY 1860 and Sarah was not with her. 1900 Sevier Co. UT. Ruth Pierce Crosier Harrington stated she had 6 children 3 living. That was John, Cormelia & Cordelia.

Obit of Mrs. Charles (Francis Crozier) Bayston 1913

2012-12-02 01:15:04Z

From the Chatsworth Plaindealer

FEBRUARY 14, 1913

The death of Mrs. Charles H. Bayston occurred on Friday (Feb. 7) evening last at 5:30 o'clock at the family home south of this city, death being the result of hemorrhage of the lungs. Although her condition had been quite feeble at times, the news of her demise was a great shock to the friends of the family.
Francis Crozier was born near Bloomington, Ill., September 3, 1861, and grew to womanhood in that locality. On June 3, 1884, she was united in marriage with Albert S. Bates, and they resided on a farm near Normal until the death of Mr. Bates in January 1891. She later moved to Normal where she resided until March 29, 1900, when she was united in marriage with Charles H. Bayston, of Chatsworth, since when her home had been south of this city.
In early life she united with the Bloomington Baptist church, transferring her membership to the Normal church of the same denomination, and later to the Chatsworth Baptist church. She was a member of the Ladies' Aid Society and will be missed in that organization, as well as in the home and community. She is survived by her husband and stepchildren, also three brothers and two sisters as follows: Mrs. Lillian Ennis, of Orleans, Neb.; Mrs. Minnie Hastings, of Yuton, Ill.; Charles Crozier, residing on the homestead at Yuton; William and Frederick Crozier, of Gibson City.
The funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the Baptist church, Rev. J. Harvey Gunn officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in the Chatsworth cemetery.

I've worked on John Crozzar/Crozier family for a long time. I don't believe he was born In Massachusetts and I'm guessing he was probably our immigrant ancestor. I put his birth at closer to 1730 based on Tax records and children's births.
He was listed in Cumberland Co. PA tax lists:
East Pennsborough Twp. in 1753, 1762, 1763, and 1764; Milford Twp. in 1778. His widow, Ann Crozier was listed on the 1780 Tax list of Milford Twp., Cumberland Co., PA, as was his eldest son Morton.

Sarah Strain may be the older sister of my great grandfather Thomas Strain, born in 1837 of same parents, Thomas Strain and Elizabeth Dillon, listed in her Ontario remarriage. My great grandfather also remarried in Manitoba and listed the same parents. He returned to Ireland about 1911 and shows County Armagh as his birthplace on 1911 Irish census. Died in 1912 but left many descendants in Saskatchewan.

Adeline "Harriet" (Crozier) Gutweiler was the daughter of John G. Crozier and Jessie L. (Mullen) Crozier. Jessie L. Mullen was the daughter of Dr. John Wm. Mullen and Adaline (Prenatt) Mullen. Adeline Gutweiler had a brother, John Charles Crozier.

They are new to me. Are they connected to Crozier or Gutweiler?

I have done research on the entire Prenatt family, if you are interested in any of that information.

Thank you. I'll follow up with your sources. Are you perhaps connected to this family? I would appreciate any additional information.

You should be able to find both John G. and Jessie L. (Mullen) Crozier in the Missouri death records. I have John G. Crozier's Madison, Indiana obituary (1937) and his wife is listed as Jessie Mullen and his children are "Mrs. Adeline Gutswiller, Alexandria, La., who is critically ill, and Charles Crozier, of St. Louis." Charles can be found in the Missouri death records (1956) and Anthony can be found in the Fort Worth, Tarrant Co., TX death records (Jan 30 1889-Feb 28 1936). States he is buried in Alexanderia, LA on March 1 1936.

I am doing some research for a cousin whose grandfather was a Crozier. She knew nothing of his family until she found a picture of him with a brother. I was able to find a census record showing his parents and multiple siblings, but can't find anything from there (marriage, deaths, etc.) Clarence is our relative, so we have info on him.

Do you know anything about:
Ferris B Crozier (b.1892 in Ohio) and Sarah Idella or Idella Sarah Motz(b. 1874 in Missouri)
Children: Lelia M, Cecile W, Florence Carmen, Miletus E, and Clarence V Crozier. (all born in Ohio from 1890-1909)

My husband's family is descended fom Thomas Wilcox and Agness Crozier. The information I have is that their daughter Hannah married Jonas Simmons. Hannah and Jonas had a daughter, Agnes and she married Fairbairn. When Agnes died, Robert married her younger sister Mabel Martha. My mother-in-law (Mabel Del) is the youngest of Robert's children. I have some obituaries if you are interested.
My biggest road block is Thomas Wilcox. Do you know where he came from? One of the census state that he was from Ireland, but I can't pin down anything else.
Thanks for any help you can give me. Please contact me at

Is it possible for you to post your father's name, his parents and any potential connection with dates and spouses this would be helpful too. Do you know what cities, or towns they might have lived in, where they are buried at.
