Casinos and Poker Online News and TipsLearn tips, advice and rules to play Casinos and Poker online, Texas Hold’em, Casino games, Tournaments. Online Poker. All Poker Games and poker rooms.Last Build Date: Sat, 14 Nov 2009 06:38:18 +0000 Thu, 24 Sep 2009 05:45:00 +0000 Vegas Magic Casino is a popular RTG Casino that offers a decent selection of games. The initial download is fast; it's a mere228 KB in size.Once the Vegas Magic Casino software is downloaded, you'll need toregister your account and make your first deposit. I took advantage of their sign up bonus, which matched my initialdeposit, but came with a 12 times wagering requirement. At Vegas Magic , there is never a doubt about where you stand in meeting that requirement;it's displayed for you when you go to the cashier. The one thing that I didn't like is that you must wager 12 times your deposit plus12 times your bonus, and play only on slots. For example, if you do like I did and deposit $50 then claim a 100% Match Bonus for $50, you must play through $1200.00 beforebeing eligible to cash out. I played for a couple hours at Vegas Magic Online Casino and only made it through $649.00 of the$1200.00 requirement. You need to remember that in this game you can’t track your gaming history so youneed to make sure to keep up with your history yourself if you have any questions. The best online slots game as far as paying hits that I played was Aztec's Treasure Slots. I managed to get severalvery nice payoffs on $1.00 spins. This is a Progressive Jackpot game that is quite unique, the Jackpot is random, meaningthat anyone anytime can win it by just playing the game. On leaving the game is when the jackpot is awarded and it doesn't matter whatcoin denomination you are playing. Most Progressive Jackpot games require that you bet a certain coin denomination. In this game you canchoose to play from $0.01 to $5.00 per line and there are 20 lines, with a possible $100 per spin if you activate all lines and bet max.The next game I played at Vegas Magic Online Casino was Cleopatra's Gold Slots, and it was very cold for me. I didn't hit muchover the value of the spin. This doesn't mean that the game doesn't play well, it does, it just means that at the time I played it, it wascold. As in Aztec's Treasure, in this game you can also choose to play from $0.01 to $5.00 per line, and there are 20 lines, with a possible$100 per spin if you activate all lines and bet max.I quickly moved on to Food Fight Slots, one of my favorite RTG Slots. Whether I win or lose, I still really enjoy this game. There are coin denominations ranging from $0.01 to $5.00 per line, and you can activate up to 20 lines for a max bet of $100. There aretwo bonus rounds in this game, one when you get the makings of the ice cream cone on activated paylines;the cherry, the ice cream and the cone. The second bonus round is activated when you get the pie shell, the cream filling and anothercherry on activated paylines. The next slot game I played was Ronin Slots, which is played similarly to Aztec's Treasure and Cleopatra's Gold. Italso has 20 paylines, the same coin denomination, and you are awarded the jackpot randomly. This one provided more playfor the money than did Cleopatra's Gold, I had several nice hits, but not as big as in Aztec's Treasure.Overall, Vegas Magic Casino is a decent casino to play at, one of the things about the casino that definitelyneeds to be improved is their customer support. Now, usually I will make up something to email the customer support about; but this time I didn’t have to - I had a problem depositingmoney into the account. So instead of emailing them, I decided to use their instant chat feature. Well, 'instant' reallyshouldn’t be the word they use for this service. Once I clicked on the icon to get the chat session to come up, it was a good 5 to 6minutes before someone actually spoke to me. And once I did ask her my question, it took another great length of time for her to respond. She did say that their servers were slow, but this was ridiculous. Once I had waited about a total of 20 minutes or so, wehad come to the conclusion that there was a problem with their server and that I should try to deposit again in a few minutes. It seems to me that since a casino wants you to deposit into their casino they should be sure everything is always workin[...]
Play Smarter in an Online Casino Sun, 30 Aug 2009 09:19:00 +0000 You can achieve to play smarter in an Online casinos by packing yourself up with the necessary knowledge in order to make smart choices of an online casino in the first place. Playing with little money and winning constantly would be an ideal case, but unfortunately no one can guarantee this will happen. Playing smart also means that you will not step out of the frame you build for yourself, meaning you settle that you can afford to play with $100 and you won’t spend a cent beyond this sum whether you win or loose. When you loose, there is a typical misconception that you start having the feeling that all you need is to play with a few bucks more in order to win something, and also if you have already won something there is a feeling surrounding you that you can win even more. If you never let yourself entering that vicious circle it already means you are one step closer to playing smartly. You have to keep to your principles, and no matter what you won’t step over them, for the bare illusion of money. Most of you already know that the target of gambling is exactly this: if you loose, to give you the impression that you are only a tiny step away from winning, and if you win, that you are able to win it all. There must be kept a balance, you have to play responsibly; don’t throw yourself deliberately into debt. Playing in an online casino should be practiced first of all for the fun of it, and not setting as a target winning money, because if you do so you’ll become a notorious player, and what is worse, addicted to gambling. Playing smarter means to follow some simple rules, and pick the Best online casinos out there. Firstly, you have to watch out for the overall layout of the website; hereby meaning that the site has to be user friendly in the first place and this is the first aspect which you can easily recognize even before proceeding with the subscriptions. Don’t you get the wrong impression that if the website is all glitters and shine that reminds you of Las Vegas so that will be the right choice? Firstly, you are not in a land based casino but visiting an online casino where the visuals don’t matter that much and secondly it could take forever until anything will load properly. This is a method only to catch your attention, and nothing more. When you visit a brick and mortar casino that’s something else, visuals are part of the entertainment. Next, an important aspect these sites should put at your disposal is the description of all their games with rules, regulations and everything else. You may be a first time visitor, and before venturing into spinning the roulette, perhaps it would do you some good if you could read about the difference between American and European roulette, where playing the first reduces your chances from the very beginning. Or, if you wish to play a card game, again there you should find the rules and some strategies presented. If you see this aspect, it means the site is well intended, it cares for its customers and it also informs and teaches. Plus, there should be displayed updated news from the world of gambling, news about tournaments, statistics and other such things which all denote that everything is not that mechanic; it means someone really takes interest and works on that website’s refresh, adds new information and makes the necessary changes. Don’t sign up with a website which is filled with flashing banners from corner to corner advertising $500 as bonus. This is again something to catch you with, after you sign up you may be disappointed that these bonuses are known as "sticky bonuses" which simply means these can’t be withdrawn, this is money only to help you place your bets with. The best known casino software providers are known as Microgaming, Playtech or Cryptologyc, and this means you should watch after rooms powered by these. You want to have safe gaming sessions, whether you play poker, roulette or slots. These are software providers you can trust, and these[...]

Four General Online Gambling Tips Sun, 15 Mar 2009 06:28:00 +0000 Today I'll give you four general gambling tips that every gambler should know. I won't go into a long, exhaustive detail, because these tips don't require it. The concept is fairly simple. Know them, use them, do better. Let's get started. Gambling Tip One: Bankroll Before going out to gambling you must set limits for yourself. By simply telling yourself how much you can afford to lose and how much you'd like to win, you'll be ahead of most gamblers. For instance, you might have $100 to lose and you might be willing to stop when you have won $200. Gambling Tip Two: No Big Six Wheel The Big Six Wheel is a carnival game that will just suck your money out of your hands. You'll know this game when you see it. It's like a standing wheel from the Wheel of Fortune TV show. If you look at the wheel, you'll see that most of the spaces return even money. Therefore, if you wager on anything else, you're getting a really bad deal. And there are just enough non-even money spaces to screw you when you wager on the even money spot. You lose either way you play this game. I don't know if it's offered online, but if it is, run away. Gambling Tip Three: Keno is Dinner Keno was designed to be played while you eat dinner in the casino. Since you can't gambling while eating, Keno comes to the rescue. However, playing it any other time is somewhat foolish. It's okay to play for pure fun-if you really love the game. But playing it thinking that you'll win some big payoff isn't too wise. Keno is like the lotto expect with much worse payoffs. Many Keno players play while eating or they put in tickets when playing other games, such as poker. Gambling Tip Four: No Strategy is Foolproof There is no gambling strategy-other than not playing-that works 100% of the time. Read that again. There are some interesting and fun strategies that can help you have more fun and possible win a little more. In the end, they all fail-yes, all. But don't take my word for it, go out and play one system for 24 hours at any casino and see how you do. And there's nothing new under the sun. All the systems being sold as new are just repackages of old systems or they are actually based off of original gambling systems. Have fun, play smart.
How to Win in Blackjack Tue, 03 Feb 2009 15:37:00 +0000 When it comes to Blackjack, you don't really need to have excellent bluffing skills to win as you would in poker. Or even have an inordinate amount of luck as you would when spinning the wheel in roulette or simply trying your chances at a slot machine. In the game of Blackjack you must not be afraid to take risks because this is the game that offers the best chances of winning. So take advantage of that and remember to always play to win in blackjack!Blackjack Tip #1 - Play to Win and Take Insurance Only When You Have ToRemember, in the game of Blackjack, you're only gambling against the dealer and no one else. Yes, it helps to know the cards of other players because you'll be able to determine the probability of your cards winnin,g but the most significant thing to concentrate on is how to beat the dealer's cards.Hence, don't take insurance unless you have to since it's truly just betting against yourself.Blackjack Tip #2 - The Rules of SplittingWhen the first two cards you're dealt with are a pair of the same value (like 7/7), then you have the option to split your cards into two and play them separately, just as long as you place the same amount of bet on each card. Now, while most players would either always or never split their cards, there is actually a strategy that can be applied to this particular situation and improve your chances at winning in Blackjack. If you have two 10's or two 5's, it's inadvisable to split cards so simply stick with them. If you have two 8's or 7's for example and the dealer shows you a card that's equal or with a lower value like 6 or 5, that's the time you should split your cards. When it comes to having face cards, you're advised to never split them as well. But when it comes to aces, split them immediately.Blackjack Tip #3 - Maximizing the Use of Double DownIf you feel that the first two cards the dealer gave you are so good, you always have the option of doubling down and doubling your bet. This is actually the best option available to Blackjack players so never let the opportunity to double down slip you by. Be aggressive, especially if the situation warrants it!Enjoyed reading the tips so far? Feeling confident right now? If so, go play Blackjack and see how much your newfound knowledge can help you![...]

ABOUT KENO Tue, 26 Feb 2008 08:06:00 +0000 Keno is a lottery-like or bingo-like gambling game played at modern casinos. A traditional live casino keno game uses a circular glass enclosure called a "bubble" containing 80 ping pong-like balls which determine the balldraw result. Each ball is imprinted with a number 1 through 80. During the balldraw, a blower pushes air into the bubble and mixes the balls. A "caller" presses a lever opening a tube, where the balls lift one at a time into a "V" shaped tube called the "rabbit ears". The caller and a "verifier" record each of 20 balls drawn, and the computerized keno system calculates all wagers based on the numbers drawn. Players wager by marking an "X" over the "spot" choices on a blank keno ticket form with 80 numbered selection boxes (1 to 80). After all players successfully place their wagers, the casino draws 20 balls (numbers) at random. Some casinos automatically call the balldraw at preset timed intervals regardless of whether or not players are waiting to place a wager. Each casino sets its own series of pay scale choices called "paytables". The player is paid based on how many numbers drawn match the numbers selected on the ticket and according to the paytable selected with regard to the wager amount. Players will find a wide variation of keno paytables from casino to casino and a large deviation in the house edge set for each of those paytables. Additionally, each casino typically offers many different paytables and specialty keno bets for customers to choose from, each with its own unique house edge. No two casinos' keno paytables are identical. There are several Reno and Las Vegas casinos offering as many as 20 or 30 different paytables from which the player can choose. The house edge ranges from less than 4% to 66%. The typical house edge for non-slot casino games is between 0% and 5% Keno historyKeno originated in ancient China in the Han Dynasty between 205 and 187 B.C. Chinese immigrants brought the game to America in the 19th century. The word "keno" has French or Latin roots (Fr. quine five winning numbers, L. quini five each), but by all accounts the game originated in China over 2000 years ago. Legend has it that the invention of the game saved an ancient city in time of war, and its widespread popularity helped raise funds to build the Great Wall. According to one source, results of keno games in great cities were sent to outlying villages and hamlets by carrier pigeon. Eventually, Chinese immigrants introduced keno to the West when they sailed across the Pacific to help build the American trans-continental railroad in the 19th centuryKeno oddsKeno payouts are based on how many numbers the player choses and how many numbers are "hit", multiplied by the proportion of the player's original wager to the “base rate” of the paytable. Typically, the more numbers a player chooses and the more numbers hit, the greater the payout, although some paytables pay for hitting a lesser number of spots. For example, it is not uncommon to see casinos paying $500 or even $1,000 for a “catch” of 0 out of 20 on a 20 spot ticket with a $5.00 wager. Payouts vary widely from casino to casino. Most casinos allow paytable wagers of between 1 and 20 numbers, but some limit the choice to only 1 through 10, 12 and 15 numbers, or "spots" as keno aficionados call the numbers selected. The probability of a player hitting all 20 numbers on a 20 spot ticket is approximately 1 in 3.5 quintillion (1 in 3,535,316,142,212,180,000 to be exact). If every person now alive played one keno game every single second of their lives, there would be about one solid 20 jackpot-winning ticket to date. If all these possible keno tickets were laid end to end, they would span the Milky Way galaxy -- and only one of them would be a winner. Even though it is virtually impossible to hit all 20 numbers on a 20 spot ticket, the sa[...]

Baccarat - 1.History - 2.Rules - 3.Strategy Fri, 22 Feb 2008 06:05:00 +0000 Baccarat HistoryThe word baccarat is derived from the Italian word baccara, meaning zero, and refers to the zero value given to all of the face cards and tens. In Europe, the elegant game of baccarat is one of the most popular casino games. The game baccarat has long held the attention of gamblers and an early version was played with cards from a Tarot deck back in the Middle Ages. The game may have originated in Italy around 1490, but by the early 1950's baccarat had become the game of choice for the French nobility. Eventually baccarat evolved into European baccarat and the French game chemin de fer. What is known as American baccarat actually originated in England and spread to South America. The version of baccarat that is played today came from the Capri Casino in Havana, Cuba. When baccarat was introduced to Nevada in the late 1950's, casino's tried to instill the glamorous aura associated with the European game. In most casinos, baccarat is played in a roped-off area, is closely monitored and sometimes even guarded. While the grandiose atmosphere of baccarat may attract the well-dressed high roller, baccarat is a simple game of chance that involves no degree of skill on the part of the player or dealer. Players may sit in any of the 14 open seats at the table, as seating position does not affect the play in any manner. Each seat corresponds to a number on the layout, one through 15, excluding a spot numbered 13 to avoid bad luck. Three dealers service each table. The dealer standing in the middle is known as the croupier or the caller. The croupier makes the calls on each hand as they are dealt, and directs the players on the procedure of the game. The other two dealers are responsible for handling the payoffs. Play Free Baccarat Entertainment Baccarat RulesHow to Play BaccaratPart of what makes Baccarat a great game is that it's so simple. The Player's decision is limited to deciding what kind of bet to make. From there on it's in the dealer's hands and you collect or pay when it's over.In Mini Baccarat, which is the only version most of us will ever see in play, you don't even get the option of handling the cards. In the "whale" games of European Baccarat they get to mangle the cards whenever they like just for personal entertainment. But then they're dropping $1000 or more a hand and you can bet that that buys a lot of replacement cards.BettingBet on your own hand (Player) and you face a house edge of 1.24%. Bet on the Banker's hand and the edge is either 0.6% if there's a 4% House cut or 1.06% is their cut is 5%. Finally there's the Tie bet which at best gives the house almost a 5% edge (Pay 8:1) and at worst 14+% (Pay 9:1). Forget the Tie bet for obvious reasons. Unless you can find a game with 4% vig on Banker bets, betting Player or Banker is six of one, half a dozen of the other.StrategyThe first thing a casino player asks themselves when stepping up to a game is "how do I improve my odds?" The answer in Baccarat is easy: you don't. Other than avoiding the Tie bet there's nothing you can do.What about card counting you ask? After all, everyone seems to do it on TV. Save yourself the trouble because it's a facade. Statistical analysis has shown that card counting in Baccarat is totally ineffective until the game hits the bottom of the shoe and even then it's a miniscule advantage. It basically boils down to paying yourself $10 an hour for risking $1,000,000. You're better off getting a squeegee and washing people's windows for spare change. As to playing the game, that's it. As to knowing what's going on, it's a matter of strict and fixed rules, and here they are:The ObjectiveThe objective of Baccarat is to draw a two- or three-card hand that totals closer to 9 than the banker.10, J, K,[...]
Slot Machines - 1.History - 2.Rules - 3.Strategy Tue, 15 Jan 2008 11:57:00 +0000 1-Slot Machines HistoryThe term slot machines was originally used for automatic vending machines as well as for the gambling devices, but in the 20th century the term became restricted to the latter. The first such gambling devices in the United States were mere novelties that did not return coins but presented gambling opportunities, such as two toy horses that would race after a coin was inserted. Such devices set on a bar in a saloon attracted wagering between patrons. The first actual slot machines were built by Charles Fay in 1887 in a small machine shop in San Francisco. He built nickle slot machines by hand and rented them to the local gambling halls. His first machine was not, as some believe, cruder and bulkier than modern slot machines, nor did its reels carry the fruit symbols commonly used today. His original slot machine, called the Liberty Bell, was somewhat smaller than modern machines, and operate basically the same way.Fay's slot machines were a huge success, and he couldn't build them fast enough in his small shop. Many larger gambling supply maufacturers tried to buy the manufacturing and distribution rights, but Fey refused. However, in 1907, Herbert Stephen Mills, a Chicago manufacturer of arcade-like machines, began production of a mahince very similar the Fey's Liberty Bell. The Machine Mills produced was called the Operator Bell. By 1910, slot machines could be found in every cirt and nearly every hamlet in the country.Forces of morality, and then of law, opposed the operation of slot machines. Throughout the 1920s, the slot machines were popular throughout much of the United States, especially in resort areas, and they continued to be popular into the Great Depression years of the '30s. In the late 40's Bugsy Siegel added slot machines to his Flamingo Hilton hotel in Las Vegas. Originally, the slot machines were installed as a way to entertain the wives and girlfriends of high rollers, but revenue from the slot machines soon began supplanting that of the table games. In the mid 1980's the popularity of slot machines and table games were on par with each other, but by the 90's slot machines had taken over and now account for over two-thirds of casino revenue in the US. Video-Poker - 1.History - 2.Rules - 3.Strategy Mon, 14 Jan 2008 05:11:00 +0000 1-Video Poker HistoryThe game of video poker is a fairly recent phenomenon, dating back to only the mid-'70s. Although early slot machines used cards and poker hands as payoff symbols, players had no choices to make; the reels stopped wherever the machine determined they would. The increasing popularity of video poker can be traced to several factors and characteristics it has in common with many of the more popular casino games. For instance:video poker is fast (like craps).video poker gives players the opportunity to make decisions and a reasonable control over the results (like blackjack).video poker is similar to poker (like many of the newest casino games).video poker gives the possibility of a large payoff and is not intimidating (like slot machines).Play Free Videopoker EntertainmentVideo Poker RulesHow to Play Video PokerVideo Poker is what you get if you cross Stud Poker with a slot machine and throw in a few wild cards. It's fast, almost like playing Stud, and you've got a huge range of options. You can choose Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild, All American, Joker Poker or a number of other variations. Each game has its own personality and rewards a particular kind of play. Also, the machines let you play anything from 1 through 5 coins, with the payoffs improving at the high end of the scale. So if you know your Poker hands and take the time to learn your game, Video Poker can be fast, fun, and rewarding.Old Poker salts should keep in mind that each game has its own strategy. All American, for example, pays better than the others on straights and flushes, so that will effect your approach to card selection. When I first started playing Video Poker, I thought it would be a lonely hearts version of the real thing. Not so. The games do indeed have their own individual winning strategies, and taking the time to learn your game means better payoffs.ObjectiveAs with all forms of Poker. the player aims to get the best hand possible. The payoffs are marked right on the face of the Video Poker machine so it's a fast lesson in what the hand ranks are. All Video Poker variations rank hands the same, though a given variation may add an extra rank or two.BettingAs you would expect from a slots version of Poker, betting is pretty straightforward in Video Poker. On any given machine you can typically choose $0.25, $0.50, $1, or $5 games. And the bets are 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x (Max Bet) whichever game you're playing. So if you're playing a $1 game, you can place bets of $1, $2, $3, $4, or $5.PayoffThe first thing to note is that the game face shows you the payoff for each betting level. Invariably playing Max Bet pays off better, overall, than any of the lower multiples. Smart players pick the betting level they are comfortable with and choose their game accordingly. In other words, if you're comfortable with a $5 bet, then pick a $1 machine and play at Max Bet for $5. If $25 bets are more your speed, pick a $5 game because Max Bet (5x) puts you at the $25 level. In either case, you're getting the best payoff odds you can for that game. This is similar to Slots strategy. Also of key importance is the fact that the payoff ratios vary from game to game. Where Jacks or Better may pay 25:1 for Four Of A Kind, All American typically pays 30:1 and Joker Poker only pays 20:1. These ratios do not necessarily reflect the true odds, so again, knowing your game helps you play smarter. Video Poker StrategyThe oddsThe odds on a given hand vary from game to game, of course, but generally speaking the house edge on Video Poker games is pretty small, even 0% in some cases. Where the Video Poker games get an edge is with players who do not follow an optimum strategy. In othe[...]
Blackjack History - Rules - Strategy Sat, 12 Jan 2008 07:03:00 +0000 1-Blackjack History The History of Blackjack & Calculating Odds BLACKJACK HISTORY Playing cards are believed to have been invented in China and/or India sometime around 900 AD. The Chinese are thought to have originated card games when they began shuffling paper money (another Chinese invention) into various combinations. In China today, the general term for playing cards means "paper tickets". The contemporary 52 card deck used in the U.S. was originally called the "French Pack" (circa 1600's) which was later adopted by the English and subsequently the Americans. The history of the blackjack card game itself is still disputed but was probably spawned from other French games such as "chemin de fer" and "French Ferme", although blackjack is also claimed by both Italy and Spain as well. The game blackjack originated in French casinos around 1700 where it was called "vingt-et-un" ("twenty-and-one") and has been played in the U.S. since the 1800's. The game is named blackjack because if a player got a Jack of Spades and an Ace of Spades as the first two cards (Spade being the color black of course), the player was additionally remunerated. In the early days of western card rooms, poker and craps were the preferred games of the high rollers and 21(blackjack) as it was played at the time had not really caught on. To make the game more enticing some clubs began offering a whopping 10 to 1 payout to any player who got a very special hand on his first two cards: Ace of Spades plus a Jack of Clubs or or Jack of Spades -- thus "21" became "blackjack" because of those two cards. Nowadays the payout of 3 to 2 (150%) is standard in most casinos, regardless of which face card accompanies the Ace. But the game remained more or less unchanged until the early days of the computer age. It took the high-powered number crunching of mathematicians like Edward Thorpe to prove that the house edge could be virtually eliminated. Thorpe and others calculated the one optimal play for every possible card combination. This set of moves became known as Basic Strategy and has been the basis of all legitimate winning blackjack methods. But casinos did not sit idly by as Basic Strategy began eroding their advantage. They developed ways to counteract players' latest ammunition. These include multiple decks, shuffling machines, frequent and early shuffling, player tracking computers and more. But savvy players can beat even these techniques, especially with card counting. 2-BLACKJACK RULESThe game of blackjack is played with one, two, four, six or eight decks of cards. In single and double deck blackjack games the dealer holds the cards and deals them out. In multi-deck blackjack games the cards are dealt out of a tray like box that is called a shoe. The casinos are starting to look at continuous shufflers that are a shoe that shuffle as well as hold the cards. In hand held games the cards are dealt face down and the blackjack player is allowed to pick up his cards. In a shoe game the cards are dealt face up to the player and you are not allowed to touch your cards. The basic play for either version of blackjack is the same. The objective of the game is to beat the blackjack dealer. If your cards total higher than the blackjack dealer's cards without going over 21 you win. You are not trying to get close to 21. If your hand or the blackjack dealer's hand goes over 21 you "Bust." If you bust you automatically lose. The player must act first. If the player busts he loses regardless if the dealer busts or not. The suits of the cards have no affect on the game of blackjack. Cards 2 - 10 are counted at face value without regards to their suit. All face cards h[...]
