Pistas padel World Number 2 Will Venus Williams Get Into The World Top 1 Once Again

Tue, 15 Jun 2010 13:42:04 GMT

American tennis player, Venus Ebony Starr Williams was given birth on June 17, 1980 in Lynwood, California. Certainly one of Richard and Oracene Williams' five daughters, Venus, along with her younger sister, Serena, has redefined women's tennis with her strength and exceptional athleticism. Since turning professional in 1994, Venus has captured seven Grand Slam Titles, which includes five Wimbledon Championships, joining Martina Navratilova and Steffi Graf as the only women to have accomplished this.

By the age of ten, her serve topped 100 MPH, a fantastic serve she used to go 63 on the US Tennis Association Junior Tour. On October 31, 1994, she she became a pro, something she showed she was a lot more than prepared in her first match. She beat 50-seeded Shaun Stafford in the Bank of the West Classic in California.

In 1997, Venus became the first unseeded U.S. Open finalist within the Open era. She was defeated by Martina Hingis. In 2000, she got both Wimbledon and the U.S. Open making the way for her to ink a forty-million dollar contract with Reebok. She then decided and retained her titles in 2001.

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Australia, she grabbed the gold medal in the Singles Competition and then took another one with her sister in the Doubles Competition. The sisters have acknowledged one another with pushing themselves in tennis both equally as partners and as opponents. Together, the pair have won 10 Grand Slam Doubles Title and also have squared off over 20 times which included the finals of eight Grand Slam Tournaments. In addition to the moment spent together on the court they also share a house together again in Florida. And their supportive parents still continue to coach both of them.

Recently, Venus had struggled with injuries where she played in only a couple of tournaments in 2006 but returned to perform in 2007 winning the Singles Title at Wimbledon. She repeatedly got the success a year later when she overpowered her sister for a fifth career Wimbledon Championship, placing her fifth all-time in women's Wimbledon Singles Championships. Several months after, the Williams' sisters partnered to get the Doubles Title in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Pistas padel Guide To Choosing The Perfect Tennis Racket

Tue, 15 Jun 2010 13:41:38 GMT

Tennis rackets are sports gears used for playing a game of tennis. This game is played by both man and woman alike and is quite a popular sport among many hobbyists as well. If you are a tennis enthusiast, you may know by now the characteristics of an ideal tennis racket, and so the knowledge to choose the right one. However, as a junior player, you may need to learn what and how the appropriate racket could affect you. Given the availability of many racket types in the market, it's often overwhelmingly difficult for many to know what size or type one should choose. In addition, this could affect your learning in the field and thus affecting your performance in the long run. Tennis rackets were earlier made using wooden materials and strings made of various animal guts as they were expected to be strong enough to hold the strength of the string and therefore, not very convenient to handle as you play. However, these days, besides woods, other materials are used to improve stiffness and durability. The non-wood materials used in the early phase were composites of various metals including steel, aluminum, and carbon fiber. Moreover, in modern rackets materials such as fiberglass, titanium alloys or even ceramics are also being used.Power or Game Improvement tennis rackets, which are designed mainly for players with shorter or slower swings, are power-oriented. Generally, these rackets have oversized head, light, and stiff. They are essentially for tennis players who could be at the advanced stage of learning. These rackets are known to provide more powerful shots and also have more strength in the hitting zone of the racket. Then the Tweener tennis rackets that are sized anywhere between 27. 5 inches to 110 inches. Pistas padel Determining the Top Women in Tennis Since 1980

Tue, 15 Jun 2010 13:41:09 GMT

Women's tennis has evolved very much so over the course of the last 30 years or so. It continues to develop into an extremely competitive sport and the bar has been raised some more with each decade.

I was thinking about the best women's players in the history of the sport, and realized that so many of them happen to be very recent players. It was really hard to make this list, but I'm going to list the seven elite women's players that come to mind, saving the best for the end.

Venus Williams has been one of the best players in modern tennis, and it's crazy to think about the fact that she finds herself at #7 here. With 10 grand slam wins, her career has been wildly successful. Perhaps the most impressive stat is her four Wimbledon titles.

While Venus Williams is a legend, Justine Henin was just a little better. Beating Venus on many occasions, this small Belgian warrior has 9 slams. The difference between Henin and Venus is the fact that she won these over a 9 year period.

5. Monica Seles. Hitting with two hands on both sides, she literally pounded the ball with every shot, and her grunts indicated this. For a while, she was untouchable, until her unfortunate stabbing. She was never the same after that. Many believe that she could have been the best woman to ever play had this not happened. Her 9 slams were all won at an extremely young age. 4. Chris Evert. She ruled the 1970s and part of the 1980s, and had a long, successful career. 18 grand slams says it all.

Chris Evert is the oldest of the bunch here, but her accomplishments shouldn't be overlooked. No current women's players have 18 career grand slams to boast, and Evert is one of the all-time greats.

After Seles is the other Williams sister, as Serena now has more grand slams, not to mention the fact that she's younger than Venus. The last few years have been dominated by Serena ever since Henin retired, and she still has a handful of good years ahead of her.

You wouldn't believe it, but Martina Navratilova continued to play doubles well into this decade. Not only did she play, but she won tournaments. That's how great she was, and she was even better at her peak.

1. Steffi Graf. The queen of women's tennis, she was the Roger Federer of the women's game. 22 grand slams.

Pistas padel Martina The Legendary Tennis Player

Tue, 15 Jun 2010 13:41:02 GMT

Martina Navratilova used to be the top female tennis player on Earth. Although she became a United States citizen in 1981, she was originally from Czechoslovakia where she was born in 1956 on October 18th. She was first introduced to tennis by her stepfather and coach, Miroslav Navratil. When she was only 15 years old, Martina became the national tennis champion of the Czech Republic. After competing in Orlando, Florida, she won her first title for the singles division when she was just seventeen. In 1975, she moved beyond being an amateur tennis player.

She made it to the end of both the Australian Open and the French Open, where she eventually lost to Evonne Goolagong and Chris Evert, during the Grand Slam tournament for singles in 1975. The year she decided to apply for a green card and stay in America, she was also defeated in the US Open semi finals. Navratilova rose to the top when she beat Chris Evert and became the best tennis player on Earth while winning the Wimbledon Grand Slam singles in 1978.

It was due to Martina's aggression and supremacy on the Court that the standard for tennis competition grew by leaps and bounds. Because she was slightly overweight early in her career, one of her initial obstacles was getting fit to play the game. Fortunately, a basketball player by the name of Nancy Lieberman encouraged her to attain this goal. She created an intense exercise regime in order to increase her personal fitness. The fact that she began using graphite racquets was probably paramount in her ability to reign supreme as a tennis player.

When she faced off against Evert in 1981 at the Australian Open in the Grand Slam single, she won again. Then she was victorious in the Wimbledon and French Open that following year. She triumphed in all of the Grand Slams except for one in 1983.

She surpassed every other tennis player and obtained the greatest winning percentage of any professional tennis player. In 1984, Martina proved her supremacy by winning the French Open Grand Slam, a great personal victory over her loss there in 1983. Philippe Chatrier, president of the International Tennis Federation, was so impressed with Navratilova's victory that he dubbed it the Grand Slam. At the height of her career, Martina Navratilova only lost six singles matches in 2 years, i.e., from 1982 - 1984.

Pistas padel My Favorite 5 Tennis Players From the 80s

Tue, 15 Jun 2010 13:40:47 GMT

Modern tennis has gone through many changes, and the 1980s were the years that served as the transition for this. Racquets quickly went from wooden ones to graphite ones, and much more happened as well.

This brief article will focus on my favorite 5 tennis players from the 1980s. These aren't ordered by who was best, simply by my favorites. I hope you enjoy it!

The early 1980s were dominated by Bjorn Borg before his early retirement. At the top of his game, he was undoubtedly the best in the world and one of the best to ever play the sport.

When I think of great net players, Stefan Edberg is one of the first names to come to mind. His serve and volley approach was simplistic in nature, but dominant enough to propel him to the world's number one ranking in the later part of the decade.

How about Boris Becker? When he took the tennis world by storm after winning Wimbledon at the young age of 16, tennis fans knew that a legend was born. Becker followed through with some great tennis for another decade, and cemented himself as one of the sport's all-time greats.

While he wasn't exactly a fan favorite, I absolutely love what Ivan Lendl did for the sport. He sat atop the rankings for longer than anyone before him in modern tennis had, and he won more tournaments than one could possibly dream of winning today.

At number one on my list is John McEnroe. His personality and his talent were both top notch, and he played the sport with all of his heart. McEnroe may very well be the most beloved American tennis player in the history of the sport.

When I think of tennis in the 1980s, I think of the five players mentioned above. All made significant contributions to the sport that still have a lasting effect to this day.
