A Review of the Barbie CD Player and Karaoke Boombox

Thu, 23 Feb 2012 21:24:11 GMT

If your child loves Barbie and loves music then the Barbie CD Player and Karaoke Boombox has to be amongst their must have gifts. Of course this device not only allows them to listen to their favourite music but also gives them the opportunity to sing along as well giving them the chance to act out their dreams of being a singing superstar.

Decorated in bright pink and silver colours with a Barbie logo on the top, this is clearly aimed at girls. With stylish curves and an array of chrome effect buttons and knobs it should look good in any girl's bedroom. The CDs load at the top of this unit and the various controls and the LED display are on the front. The LED is a counter telling you which track of the CD you are currently listening to. The controls are well laid out and it is all very easy to operate. It is all well constructed with children in mind so will stand a certain amount of misuse. In fact this CD player and karaoke boombox comes with a 2 year guarantee which is very unusual for such models within this price range.

This CD player takes standard format CDs, but also will take karaoke format (CD+G) discs which allow you to connect your device to a television so that the words are displayed on the screen as it plays. Great if your child can't remember the words or indeed if timing is not her strong point. The audio and video cables are included.

Included with this model is one microphone, but it does have the ability to take two so your child can sing duets. Perhaps you could have parent and child singing competitions! Being a karaoke it also includes vocal effects including echo, auto voice control and balance control. Each microphone input has their own volume control.

This model is powered by mains electricity or by 8 "C" batteries (which are not included).

The sturdy construction, stylish looks and ease of operation make the Barbie CD Player and Karaoke Boombox the perfect gift for your music loving Barbie fan. You can be sure that she will enjoy singing along to all of her favourite songs and showing off her talents to friends and family. Or perhaps she could host her own mini singing competition. Not to mention it making a great addition to any Barbie themed child's bedroom.

CD Players for Kids: Review of the Duronic Portable CD Player

Sat, 04 Feb 2012 21:59:38 GMT

Finding the right CD player for yourself or for your child is not always as easy as you might think. If you are looking for a compact unit with good sound quality then you should look no further than the Duronic RCD025P Portable CD Player. This neat little player is small enough to be carried around so you can listen to your music anywhere. It is not designed to be played too loudly, however it is easily loud enough for most purposes. In fact this might be seen as an advantage if you are a parent.

It takes standard CDs as well as CD-RWs (although not recordings in MP3 format) and you can plug in your MP3 player, Iphone or Ipod into this player, although the cable to connect them is not included.

Also included is an AM/FM radio so you can take your favourite radio station around with you as well. The telescopic antenna improves radio reception.

The Duronic CD Player comes in a range of colours according to your preference including pink, white, black and red and has an attractively simple slim design. It can be stood upright while in use, or indeed laid flat - either way it works just as well. It is simple to use and well made which makes it suitable for children, although is actually suitable for anyone who wants a small portable audio system. The LCD display helps you to keep up with what track you are on. The skip and search feature allows you to quickly find the specific track that you want.

When you are wanting to use it as a portable player it is powered by four "C" batteries, although you do also have the option of plugging it into the mains electricity.

The problem with many boomboxes designed for children is that although they are designed to be carried around, they are really just too big to be truly portable. This is certainly not the case with the Duronic Portable CD Player with its compact design means you really can listen to your music wherever you want to. Of course a major issue for CD players for kids is that they should be able to stand up to the daily use and abuse that children can cause to their belongings. The simple design of the Duronic means that it is sturdy enough to withstand being used by children.

Overall, the Duronic Portable CD Player is great choice for children and looks stylish in any child's bedroom.

Choosing CD Players for Kids

Thu, 29 Sep 2011 22:25:49 GMT

CD players are a great gift for children. After all it is a gift that grows with your child. From their earliest years of listening to gentle music to help them sleep, to listening to stories, through to singing along with children's songs, before they inevitably move on to pop and rock music as they get older. There is a great range of CD players for kids available. Young children particularly enjoy sing along CD players which incorporate a microphone (or in some cases two) so that they can sing along. If there are two microphones you can of course sing along with your child..

The other popular option are boomboxes which are self-contained units so are very portable, so your child can listen to their music wherever they happen to be in their house. Generally they offer a reasonable sound quality and are much cheaper than full blown sound systems. Many are brightly coloured which children love, while others are themed according to well known TV and movie characters. To help you choose the right CD player for your child why not visit CD Players for Kids to read reviews of all the best models.

The Advantage of Cordless Lawn Mowers

Thu, 17 Mar 2011 13:03:22 GMT

Mowing the lawn can be seen by some as a chore, but by others as rather therapeutic, but however you see it the importance of a good lawn mower to get the job done well cannot be overstated. For many years gardeners have had a simple choice between gas powered mowers and corded electric mowers. However, with advances in rechargeable batteries, cordless lawn mowers have grown significantly in popularity.

Cordless mowers have many advantages over their gas powered counterparts. For example, there none of the hassle and mess of having to deal with gasoline and oil cans. Starting is considerably easier as there is no pull cord to contend with; from experience some gas powered mowers can be very temperamental at starting, particularly towards the beginning of the season. Another factor is noise in that cordless mowers are significantly quieter so no need to worry about disturbing the neighbors.

While corded electric lawn mowers possess many of the advantages referred to above, they are also rather limited by the fact that you have to be plugged into your power source to use it. Therefore you are limited as to how far you can go from your house. Whilst you could use extension cords, this clearly has safety implications.

Cordless lawn mowers are therefore a great solution for anyone who is fed up with the hassle of gas powered mowers, but do not want to be limited by having an electric cable trailing behind them as they are mowing the grass.

Fri, 21 Jan 2011 22:29:10 GMT

We generally spend about a third of our lives sleeping. Most of the time we do not have any problems with this and it just occurs naturally. CD Players for Kids: A Great Gift for Your Children

Sat, 27 Nov 2010 22:28:40 GMT

All children love music. So what better gift than CD players for kids. Young children particularly like to sing along to music, so several manufacturers have taken this into account and created CD players that incorporate microphones. In fact some have two, so you can sing along too! For slightly older children there are models that are based on popular characters, particularly movie characters (such as Toy Story). These are great, but you do need to think about how much use your child will get out of them - some characters can have a limited interest when the next big thing comes along.

Whichever type you choose, CD players for kids is a great gift.

Kettler Kadett Outrigger Style Rower Rowing Machine

Wed, 03 Nov 2010 23:11:06 GMT

One of the best ways of getting fit is rowing as it uses pretty much all of your body muscles. As a result it is not surprising that rowing machines are amongst the top selling fitness equipment. One of the problems with many of these though is that it is just not the same as proper rowing and therefore are not as good as the real thing. However, the Kettler Kadett Outrigger Style Rower Rowing Machine is different. With its circular movement and a system of hydraulics it accurately simulates rowing on water - no danger of falling and getting wet though! It has the ability to change the resistance to your own particular choice, so you can start at a lower resistance and work your way up to something more strenuous. The training computer helps you to keep track of how you are doing providing information on strokes, distance covered, etc. If you are looking to get fit then I think it is a great buy.

Are You Thinking About Adopting a Child?

Wed, 20 Oct 2010 22:31:40 GMT

Adopting a child is most definitely a huge life changing step to take. These days, children who are placed for adoption range in age from babies to older children. It has become less usual than it was in the past for babies to be placed. Bearing in mind the experiences these children have had, you can expect them to bring some difficulties with them. Most children in these circumstances will have experienced abuse and/or neglect, and may have experienced multiple carers. All this will have an impact on their ability to for secure attachments to their carers.

These children therefore, need carers who can provide stability and patience. They need to be able to understand that, unlike raising your own birth child, your adopted child brings their own history and this is very much a part of their identity. You cannot, and should not try, to wipe out this identity. Adopting a child is certainly challenging, but very worthwhile.

Choosing a Downdraft Gas Cooktop

Sun, 04 Jul 2010 21:04:37 GMT

Many home experience the problem of lingering cooking smells. One solution to this is the standard extractor hood that fits over your cooktop. However, this is not always possible in all kitchens due to space, layout or simply aesthetics. One solution is to use a downdraft gas cooktop. The principle behind these is that they have a powerful fan in the middle of the cooktop which draws the odors and smoke downwards from the cooking area and out of your home through a system of vents. As a result, your home is free of cooking odors without the need for an extractor hood.

And Now Andy Murray is Out of Wimbledon

Fri, 02 Jul 2010 21:38:41 GMT

And so it seems that the 2010 search for a UK sporting champion continues. After the England team's dismal showing in the FIFA World Cup all hopes were pinned on Andy Murray at least progressing to the final at Wimbledon. After reaching the semi-finals with dropping just one set, he sadly went out to Nadal. At least he played well and kept our hopes alive. That is two years running that he has reached the semis, so there is hope yet. Maybe if Jenson Button or Lewis Hamilton can win Formula 1 again that might be some consolation.

England Out of the World Cup: Now the Post Mortem

Mon, 28 Jun 2010 20:43:51 GMT

With England's football team crashing out of the World Cup after losing 4 - 1 to Germany, there now follows the inevitable post mortem. There are the usual questions - why do players who perform at the top class for their clubs on a weekly basis play so poorly for their country? How can such individually gifted players fail to gel as a team? And then there are recriminations - on this occasion there is no individual player to blame, so the manager is in the firing line. It has to be said that this World Cup campaign was particularly poor. We will get to hear in a couple of weeks whether the Football Association will support Fabio Cappello or whether he will be sacked and a new hope sought. Either way there is the qualification stage of Euro 2012 to look forward to. The question is, will England fare any better?

Are Black and Decker Can Openers any Better Than any Others?

Sat, 26 Jun 2010 11:57:20 GMT

The idea of a Black and Decker can opener may surprise you little, after this is a company better know for making power tools rather kitchen accessories. In fact they make a range of can openers including the small hand held "Gizmo", the under the counter "Spacemaker" and tall devices intended for specialising in large cans. You could make do with a hand held device of course, but for many people this is just unnecessary effort. Also for many older people and people who find using hand devices difficult this is simply not an option. If you are looking for a new can opener then a Black and Decker can opener is a pretty safe option as they are an established and reputable brand and there is a large range to choose from.

Digital TV Recorders - Farewell to the VCR

Tue, 22 Jun 2010 23:15:52 GMT

I remember a time when the VCR was at the cutting edge of technology. It seemed wondrous that we could actually record programmes to to watch whenever we wanted and not be restricted to whenever the TV schedulers thought we should be watching. The only problems were the ever increasing pile of cassettes we accumulated and the fact that they only had a limited life - record over them a few times and first the sound would deteriorate and then the picture quality. And then there was the risk of accidentally recording over something that you really wanted to keep.

Digital TV recorders overcome all of these problems, and the newer ones have a large memory so you need not worry about running out of space. They usually allow you to do things like pause live TV so you can go and answer the phone, make a drink, or whatever else interrupts your usual viewing, and not miss anything. Also they often now have other features like being able to access music via the internet and some give you access to a video library.

Things have certainly moved on since the days of the VCR!!

England's World Cup Stalls Against Algeria

Sun, 20 Jun 2010 13:05:34 GMT

It should have been straightforward. A victory against Algeria would have seen them pretty much through to the next round. Instead it was a painful display against a team who are no known for success in international football. Although Algeria never really looked like scoring, England's attempts on goal were pretty lacklustre never really making the goalkeeper having to make too much of a save. Overall, the team's performance was pretty poor with the passing in the middle of the pitch lacking accuracy and what seemed like a general lack of belief within the team.

Now, only a win against Slovenia will guarantee to see them through. A draw would make a theoretically possible, but unlikely. England's dream of World Cup glory for the first time in 44 years feels a very long way away.

"Tasty" Catfish

Tue, 15 Jun 2010 22:08:33 GMT

Did you know that the catfish has more tastebuds than any other creature on earth? No, me neither. Apparently, unlike other creatures, the catfish does not have tastebuds just in its mouth, but they are in fact spread over its entire body. This includes its whiskers, fins, back and tail! Catfish are normally about 6 inches long but over this small body they manage to pack in a quarter of a million tastebuds. Why they have quite so many I don't really know - I guess it is a means of finding out what is around them, whether this should be potential food or a predator. Most things must taste pretty salty though!

Legionnaire's Disease Danger .......From Your Car!

Mon, 14 Jun 2010 19:55:32 GMT

For many years now all public buildings have had to take precautions against Legionnaire's Disease. Particular attention has been given to heating and air conditioning systems with their tendencies to spread fine droplets of water through the air. Also areas to look at have been shower equipment, so there has been plenty of attention given to hotels making sure that they keep their shower heads clean. One area that has not been given much attention though is one thing that most of us have - our cars! It turns out that actually one of main culprits for causing Legionnaire's Disease is the windscreen wiper waters in our cars. Who would have thought it! I suppose it makes sense though if you think about it - you have water sitting in a plastic bottle for extended period and then squirted out in a fine mist.

However, it seems that all you need to do is use screenwash. This actually kills the bacteria as well as cleans your windscreen. Problem solved!!
