I'll be on holiday then so can't make the lunch unfortunately, but it sounds really interesting and I've filled in the survey. Looking forward to seeing the results!

I had a play with the Google Calendar link - the information on the UL site does warn about how slow it might be...I'll get back to you on that one!

As for the Roman Floor - it is at Chedworth Roman Villa in Gloucestershire - not exotic! But I like it as it shows Winter in his "Birrus Britannicus". The hooded cloak that I am sure the Romans appreciated when stuck in cold, snowy Britain.

I am only doing the extra things and there are only 7 or so of them rather than 23 so hoping I can keep up! But whether I finish the cpd23 is another thing.
I am perserving with wordpress but just not as intuitive as blogger. I keep have to hunt around to find stuff.

I'm surprised so many people are saying they prefer Blogger. I had used Blogger quite a bit but instantly preferred WordPress when I tried it last year. Find it much nicer interface somehow.

I'm impressed with you both taking on the 2.0 version (and cpd23 too??!). I'd love to but keep reminding myself I'm on leave for a good reason, plus cam23 ate up lots of my time last year (in a good way) so definitely don't have time or energy for that this summer! Good luck to you, will follow with interest.

I too prefer Blogger to WordPress at present, but have been using Blogger for 3 years and WordPress for just 2 months.

I love your exquisite Roman floor. Where is it?

You still remain top of the Things parade with 'These are a few of my 23 things'!

Hi,

This is just to thank Lyn for that event, and the background reading, which was informative and stimulating in displaying the variety of viewpoints professional have.

I went to a talk 4 or 5 years ago when the person who started it was speaking. They had start up funding but now I think libraries fund it. I wasn't sure if it was still going so checked. But as you say if no-one knows about it no-one uses it and then it gets closed as not considered necessary!

There's a spellchecker?! I have the Firefox British English dictionary plugin on most of the computers I use, which checks (a little idiosyncratically, but it catches a lot of typos if nothing else) any text you type in a webpage. Well worth searching out by anyone using Firefox.

I hadn't made the link between library tour podcasts and historic building audioguides, but now you've said it I can't stop imagining one. "Let's hear from old Mr Ebenezar Booke, librarian here in the seventeenth century..."

2010-08-19T10:59:08.420+01:00

Wow - I'd never heard of the people's network. The 'find a library' feature looks very useful, and the enquiry service is just what modern libraries should be all about. But has *anyone* heard of it? I note that it's created by the MLA, so it will presumably stop existing when it does, and probably explains why it's not as well know as it should be (don't get me started on the MLA...).
