TattooNOW: Coverup Trivia Question #2

What is the Translucency Factor?

(image) I#39;ve laid out six major "Coverup Realities", including the Translucency Factor. When a coverup tattoo heals and settles, you can usually see the old piece coming through, because the new tattoo isn#39;t opaque like acrylic or oil paint- it#39;s translucent, like watercolors. Find out strategies for working around this problem in Coverup: The Next Level, now included FREE in your Reinventing The Tattoo subscription, building on last year#39;s foundation, Coverup: A Fresh Look. David Jon Kassan (born 1977 in Little Rock, Arkansas) is a contemporary American painter best known for his life-size representational paintings, which combine figurative subjects with abstract backgrounds or ldquo;tromp lrsquo;oeil texture studies,rdquo;[1] Of this dual representation strategy Kassan notes, ldquo;my effort to constantly learn to document reality with a naturalistic, representational painting technique allows for pieces to be inherent contradictions; paintings that are both real and abstract.rdquo;[2]

Kassan is a much sought after drawing and painting instructor because of his steadfast commitment to the age old discipline of working from life and creating compelling expressions of the human condition. He has given painting/drawing seminars and lectures at various institutions, and universities around the world. In 2013, he founded the Kassan Foundation in hopes of giving grants directly to underprivileged talent in both the visual and musical arts.

Kassan works can be seen in many public and private collections worldwide. He is represented by Gallery Henoch (Chelsea), New York, NY and The Maxwell Alexander Gallery in Culver City, CA. Kassan lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

TattooNOW: Gogue, Baxter, Butcher, Moule, Jade and Lenhard webinars up for replay

Tattooers, we have some new fresh tattoo webinars. Among the highlights of the Paradise tattoo gathering in 2016 was webcasting Markus Lenhard for the first time, as well as three brand new seminars that debuted at Paradise. Check out what we just uploaded:

The Jade Effect - Webinar with Laura Jade: You will learn how to develop a vocabulary of shapes and the process of how to build them to create visually pleasing tattoos. Developing concepts, composition and flow, varying line and choosing and layering patterns. You will learn the process of how to approach freehand drawing on the body and helping bring your client to a feeling of cohesive completion.

Limit-less - a collaborative tattoo webinar with Jason Butcher and Lianne Moule: Our seminar will focus on what we are doing, how we are doing it but more importantly why we are doing it. We will be explaining our processes from choosing the client all the way through to the finished tattoo. We will explain why we have decided to focus on collaboration tattoos and how this drives everything we do artistically and how other artists could apply this to their own work.

What is it? A biomech seminar with Markus Lenhard: By dissecting the question that is as old as the subject matter of biomechanics and abstract art, the seminar will delve into the deeper workings of how one can approach and master this seemingly alien subject matter.

The Art of Teaching with Jeff Gogue and Nick Baxter: Attendees will learn ways to begin developing content for crafting effective speaking presentations. They will leave with several concrete steps to take in beginning their exploration of building, teaching and delivering an impacting presentation.

TattooNOW: Tattoo Interview / Artist Introduction - Josh Suchoza from Off The Map Tattoo Now Available.

I started tattooing in 2006, after receiving my Bachelors of Fine Arts from Robert Morris University. I#39;ve never been abducted by aliens, however I am open to the possibility. I prefer blending styles of tattooing, mostly a cross of bright bold colorful illustrations and geometric dot work, but I do also enjoy doing those styles separately amongst other styles. At some point I would like to do a tattoo in outer space, (Elon Musk, I#39;m looking your way dude, let#39;s talk).

In addition to tattooing I am also a certified OSHA bloodborne pathogens instructor. allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="" width="560">
