Tamara Walker, RN, aka MomRN, and her expert guests share practical advice, information and support for raising a happy, healthy family. Joining us is Academy Award nominated documentary film maker, Jim Burroughs, and his cardiologist Dr. Shephal Doshi of Providence Saint John’s Health Center to talk about how medical advancements are providing ways to help afib patients stay active. Recent data from the annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium is shedding new light on a survivor’s most nagging fear – will my cancer come back? Time is running out when it comes to getting your holiday shopping done! Whether you’ve waited until the last minute or don’t know what to get the gamer who has everything, Tech Expert Andrea Smith is here with THE last-minute holiday gift guide. She has tips to scoring the hottest gaming gadgets and a few cool points for mom and dad!

According to a recent survey, many working Americans show up for work even when they’re sick, proving that we have some work to do when it comes to sick etiquette, which helps keep ourselves and others healthier. Etiquette expert Diane Gottsman joins us to share a little sick etiquette advice. During the holiday season, many of us will indulge in rich foods with our families and friends. But for the estimated one in five Americans who experience chronic heartburn, this can also mean a nagging cough, loss of voice and even difficulty sleeping. If this sounds like you, you’ll want to hear from our guest before reaching for that over-the-counter medicine to go back for seconds on your holiday dinner. Joining us today is leading gastroenterologist, Dr. Anthony Starpoli, with tips to help ease your heartburn this holiday season and how to know when that heartburn could be a sign of something more serious. Compassion, honesty and generosity – How soon should parents start helping their kids develop these traits? In a recent survey, parents overwhelming agreed that good character traits were important. Yet, nearly half said preschool is too young for children to start learning critical social-emotional skills, like getting along with others and compassion. Why? Dr. Laura Jana is a board-certified pediatrician and proud mother of three. She’s also an award-winning parenting and children’s books author. She joins us to debunk some misconceptions about what our kids can learn and when. Ask MomRN Show

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 18:00:00 GMT

This week's show features anti-aging and beauty tips from The Bachelorette star Trista Sutter. Millennial Lifestyle Expert and Guest TV host, Chelsea Krost shares timely information on how millennials can stay on track with their New Year's Resolutions and what they need to do for their financial health. Registered Dietitian Annessa Chumbley will be sharing grocery shopping tips to help you make healthy nutritional choices this year! Mood swings, fatigue, problems with sleeping at night and focusing during the day, weight gain…the list goes on.  Many of us dismiss the symptoms as the result of stressful lifestyles or perhaps just getting older. But, is your body sending you an urgent message? Could your thyroid be malfunctioning? Joining us to discuss what these signals could mean is Dr. Jeffrey Garber, speaking on behalf of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and Ronni Hochman, who suffers from hypothyroidism and is a patient of Dr. Garber. It’s tax time – and the question as you fill out your income taxes – are you keeping as much money in your pocket possible? A new United Way survey shows that a number of working Americans don’t realize the tax credits they’ve earned. And 70 percent are unaware they qualify for free tax preparation services. Joining us to explain it is U.S. President of United Way Worldwide, Stacey Stewart.
