I found the team blogging workshop really useful - several points I took away from that have been used in setting up the Cam23 2.0 blog!

Welcome back to 23 things. I am also doing the extra things at my blog Things ventured. I think I went a bit overboard with the extras. Yours is looking much clearer. I am trying out wordpress for the cpd23 things but not liking it at the moment. But sure I will get used to it. Hope you enjoy the extra things.

It's usually possible to import calendars from other programmes to Google Calendar - see http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/topic.py?hl=en-uk&topic=15285 - so if you really want to make the switch it can probably be done!

Thanks for the comment about the time frame which I will mention at our evaluation meeting for 23 Things. I think that your tactic of taking less time on each thing is probably a good one! Interesting issues of people flagging and when to run something like this. Term time is pretty bad for quite a few people and being over a long-ish period does give people time to catch up - maybe!

I wasn't entirely convinced about Google calendar, but decided to use it as Sunbird (a Mozilla calendar application) wasn't going to be updated and that meant moving to Lightning (a Sunbird like add on for Thunderbird) and also the rumour was that the Computing Service would be using Google calendar as a University wide tool.

More details when I get to thing 6.

Thanks for the link to the JISC article. I don't think I've seen that bit of the JISC website before (or maybe it used to look different), and it looks likes there's a lot of useful stuff there.

I'm a visual person too! And especially when it comes to learning. Find it hard to read too much text! Lovely pics......

It would be a great idea to use the same tactic as LoC to identify images from your collections. And a great way of publicising the collection too of course.

If I bookmarked it on Delicious (for whatever reason), I would tag it: walrus, animal, beach, sea, tusk, image.

Just to answer your question... :)

I like the alerts that I've set up to send me a summary of my agenda for the day first thing in the morning. A quick look at my blackberry email inbox as I set off for work reminds me what's in store for the day!

You can add the iGoogle Doodle (nice rhyme!) widget from Doodle's website too. Worth a try:

I set up and employed my first blog a few years ago when I undertook time on sabbatical which included travelling around southern India. It was by far the easiest way to keep in contact with my family, friends and work colleagues. Access to Internet technology was abundant throughout the area both formally within library and university buildings and also more informally where local people would set up a few computers and advertise their use to the public. In turn I have kept in contact with those I met on my travels through the application of this technology. It certainly can be extremely useful in this respect.

Hi Rachel

Love the blog name and the pictures! I agree about the time-consuming problem of Web 2.0 and 23 Things. Spent an hour or two today trying to get myself up to Thing 4 - finally managed it! I love RSS feeds but use a feed reader and am still preferring that. But then I'm at the same desk most of the time!
good luck - hope it all goes well!
