Hello Everyone and welcome to my blog! For all of you that are new to Antler Quilt Design, I'll do a little introduction. My name is Doug Leko and I am the designer behind the name. I have been quilting since the age of 5, and started my own company at the age of 14. I have always loved quilting. Please visit my website to learn more about me. www.antlerquiltdesign.com(My exciting NEW website will be up and running very soon.)I was honored when Karen Burn asked if I would contribute a bed runner for this book. Bed runners have always peeked my interest and I have published several other bed runners as single patterns or as a companion size in my full-size patterns. My bed runner for the book Quick Change, is titled "Fireworks". The runner features Primitive Gatherings fabrics by Moda Fabrics. What inspired your bed runner? My bed runner was inspired by The Fourth of July. I imagined my family "up north" at the lake, watching all of the fireworks getting shot off into the night sky. The perfect connection - three of my favorite star blocks look just like colorful explosions. The bed runner was beautifully quilted by the talented Natalia Bonner of Piece N QuiltDo you have another favorite project from Quick Change? I like many of the other runners, but of my favorite is "White Diamonds" by Kimberly Jolly of Fat Quarter Shop.I really like the classic two-color look. What does the master bedroom of your dreams look like? This what my mater bedroom would look like. The feel and look is relaxing and calming. I really like the fireplace and the open door on the back side of the room. I hope you like the bed runner as much as I do!Happy Quilting,DougMartingale is giving away an eBook of Quick Change! To enter please leave a comment below, telling us what is your favorite style of quilting (i.e. modern, traditional, miniatures, applique, etc.)Be sure to visit with the other featured designers!Tuesday, April 28: Blog-hop kickoff at Stitch This!Wednesday, April 29: Kimberly Jolly and Jocelyn Ueng at Fat Quarter ShopThursday, April 30: Heather Andrus & Megan Jimenez at Quilt StoryFriday, May 1: Brigitte Heitland at Zen ChicSaturday, May 2: Heidi Pridemore at the Whimsical Workshop StudioMonday, May 4: Amanda Leins at MandaleiTuesday, May 5: Doug Leko at Antler Quilt DesignWednesday, May 6: Audrie Bidwell at Blue is BleuThursday, May 7: Stephanie Prescott giveaway via Facebook[...]2015-03-29T12:26:16.972-05:00

Hello Everyone!2015-03-29T11:40:39.224-05:00
. . . the last six days went by sooo fast!! I sure do miss all the activity of Quilt Market and visiting with my adopted family and industry friends. It is fun to see what everyone has been working on since last fall and to share what has been going on in our personal lives. Also, it was wonderful to see many current customers and meet many new customers - thank you all for your support. The layout of my booth consisted of: five color-ways of Water Lilies, two color-ways of Woodland Stream, and two color-ways of Rustic Star.My School House presentation unveiled the SIX layouts that make up my second in a series quilt titled Mystical (samples are laying flat on the walls). Three layouts from Mysterious made a repeat showing so customers could compare the two patterns (bunched). I heard over and over that customers enjoy the repetitive sewing and love playing with and choosing from the multiple layouts; they are looking forward to fall market when the TRIO is complete with the release of Mystify. Here is a YouTube video that has been posted from Quilt Market: Quilt Market Booth Walk w/Lissa Alexander (for Moda Fabrics). As the video starts you can see my quilt/pattern Woodland Stream behind Lissa made out of Holly Taylor's newest batik line Trail's End. Then about 3 minutes into the video she talks about the new fabric line and AQD. What an honor to have my sample hanging in their booth! So everyone can see - I've attached a copy of my sales hand-out from Market. It shows what is new and also my best sellers. www.antlerquiltdesign.comIn my opinion, grey is still the hot color. Then pretty much any other color goes from bright to pastel. Embellishing is still popular; also I saw a lot of small piecing! While at Market we always try to have one dinner that is special and this spring we dinned at O'Dowd's Little Dublin. The food and service were excellent. Look at this picture of their floor; it was salvaged from an old Irish Church.Monday we shop hopped our way home - now that was relaxing!!Tuesday was spent unpacking, shipping orders, answering emails, debriefing . . . and . . . dreaming of ideas for Fall Quilt Market in Houston ;-)Happy Quilting,Doug[...]2015-03-29T11:47:10.730-05:00
