I'm *sharing* friends with you -- not loaning them. Loan implies that they belong to me. Wrong.

Hi Shayne, I started using Facebook because my twin sister kept nagging me to do it. I've found it's an easy way to distribute information about upcoming lectures and events to my students. They also think it's cool to get in touch with me that way. I don't spend much time on it though and I've set up my account so that I get an old-fashioned email when a student has sent me a message on Facebook. I can do without all the fancy applications -- even the Wordpress plug-in isn't really that useful as it's easier to edit straight from my blog.

Nah, no issues really... just curiosity mostly!

It is not uncommon to see people babbling about facebook. Do you have a huge issue about it? lol And yes, seriously, no one would like to read online. Bad for your eyes, huh? id rather stick on paper books. Handy and... just feels like normal gadgets to me.

Yes, using Facebook to organize a reunion makes perfect sense! And I think it's cool that your work is encouraging employees to use it-- how is that working out?

The main thing that sucked me screaming and resisting into Myspace is that, when I first started to hear about them, my ten year reunion was headed my way. You'd find one or two people...and they'd find a couple more...and pretty soon...the gangs all there. :oD My class actually used Myspace as a way to plan some informal events for our class reunion. Now I'm back in touch with people I'd lost along the way. Facebook I got involved in because my work is trying to use it to provide an "artist/writers workshop" as a way for employees to socialize. Employees are to use it outside of work time but it is provided and supported by the institution on a trial basis to see if it will enhance working relationships and create a sense of community.

Ruth, I've added you as a writer to the wiki-- I believe you'll get an "invitation" from pbWiki explaining what to do next. I accidentally got my wiki and my blog mixed up, and added you as a writer to the blog, too. Oops! Looking forward to sharing ideas! Shayne

Hi Shayne, I think it's great that you've set this up as a place to share ideas. I've been along for the ride on All Together Now & the 12 things that Michael has introduced. How can I log in to contribute to your 12 things wiki? I'm still a relative newbie but am willing to share my experiences. I'm an LMS at a small independent school on Long Island. All the best, Ruth
