Comment on Technology in Corrections by aksindiblog

Joe: There’s no doubt that there’s urgency but it’s a double edged sword. You don’t want to introduce technologies that haven’t been validated in the field or that potentially create an increased workload like GPS’s so it’s a balancing act. As Brian said there are agencies who are doing things piecemeal. It’s probably not the right term. Here and there they’re experimenting and some are having very good results.

Crime victims compensation are criminals themselves and so is mpd. I have been a crime victim 3 times. They didn't do anything for me. So sorry, but "expletive deleted" them.

Comment on Video Visitation in Corrections by Gary York

Great show! I believe video - visits are a win - win for everyone involved. As a security minded person and former prison Inspector, I believe it provides a safer environment for staff and inmates. The program also provides the children with a more antiseptic visit as well as a much more private visit with Mom or Dad.

You are using all kinds of wrong data. Locking people up for stupid reasons has been disastrous on our economy & families. The laws need to be changed. Florida's broken penal systems needs a massive over haul. Citizens like myself that were duped into voting based on fear by legislatures, would without equivocation vote differently today. Zero tolerance & three strikes your out have been pathetic examples of leadership! Privatization has not served the public or inmates well, because there based on profits. Get your facts straight, and stop spreading dead wrong information. Citizens deserve better

Comment on Victim Assistance and Cyber Crime in America-NOVA by lisa

cybercrime has many victims and many do not have a dollar amount attached to them. cybercrime can ruin an individual and there is not one place for them to seek help or compensation for the things that have been lost. My x husband had all of my communications hacked into prior to our divorce. I took a weak settlement willingly as long as I had a fair chance to build a career. He is back for the second time and has sabotaged my career, my relationship with my teenagers, and has left me with little options. I have numerous police reports, and piles of evidence. the authorities will not look, and only say that until he actually steals money from me I have no case. I have spent 25k trying to secure my phones and computers. I am now faced with a new name and social security number to try and fix this. I can move far away and never see my sons again, and this is not ok. My sons need me.

This is a great podcast and makes some very good points. It's amazing to think how quickly the internet has advanced yet how far behind we are in educating our children of the dangers they face online. We believe it's time to really raise the awareness of the dangers of the internet and provide a sold and sound education on how to stay safe online. The better we educate our children the better they will be able to understand the risks and make informed decisions about their behavior online.

It’s being discussed right now and it’s very important that we should be discussing it but most people don’t understand that specific to this issue under the Military Code of Justice that there are not victims’ rights as such.nice site and very informative.thanks for sharing this.
