'Enough is enough': G7 ministers agree to call Russia out

Canada and its G7 partners are saying "enough is enough" to attacks by Russia and other authoritarian countries in their democratic institutions, Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland said Monday. Freeland concluded talks with her G7 counterparts by affirming an organized effort to respond to foreign meddling and the spreading of false information - mainly by Russia.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his public safety minister are delivering messages of sorrow - but not panic - in the aftermath of a Toronto man's deadly rampage through city streets in a van. In an early morning statement, Trudeau said there is no apparent link to terrorism, adding that all Canadians are standing with Toronto as it continues to reel from the attack.

Abducted girl rescued by Delhi Police, juvenile arrested

A 10-year-old girl was rescued by the Delhi Police from a Madrasa in the Sahibabad area and a juvenile has been apprehended. According to the police, the girl went missing on April 21. The girl resided with her family in the Ghazipur area of east Delhi.




Arson charges stand against Elgin woman accused of attempted murder

A DuPage County judge Monday declined to dismiss arson charges against an Elgin woman accused of stabbing another woman and starting a fire in a Roselle residence last July. The attorney for Chevaz Odio argued Monday that prosecutors had failed to provide enough information to support arson indictments against Odio, and those counts against should be dismissed.

57 dead in suicide bombing

An Islamic State suicide bomber attacked a voter registration centre in Afghanistan's capital on Sunday, killing 57 people and wounding more than 100 others, officials said. Public Health Ministry spokesman Wahid Majro said that among 57 people killed, 22 were women and eight were children.

Death for child rape: Tough law kicks in, rape cases pour in

A new law for death to those raping children below 12 came into force in India on Sunday, in response to days of unspeakable brutalities and subsequent outrage across states. More cases of rape and murder of kids poured in through the day, and shock mounted further when Union Minister Santosh Gangwar questioned "a brouhaha over one or two cases that sometimes cannot be stopped."

Ontario Provincial Police say a fisherman has found the body of a child in the Grand River, 13 kilometres downstream from where a three-year-old boy went missing during a flood in February. Police say the fisherman found the body at around 3 p.m. Saturday near Orangeville, Ont., and it is being transported to a coroner's office to be identified.

Police in Nashville say three people are dead and four are injured after a shooting at a Waffle House restaurant early Sunday. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department says the gunman was a white man with short hair who was wearing only black pants and a coat.

Two unidentified men shot dead a Palestinian man in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, Malaysian and Palestinian authorities reported, and Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister said the suspects were believed to be linked to a foreign intelligence service. Kuala Lumpur police chief Mazlan Lazim said two men on a motorcycle fired 10 shots at the 35-year-old victim, killing him on the spot.
