Randy's Roundup: A weekly newsletter from Congressman Randy Neugebauer
Tue, 15 Mar 2011 21:09:00 -0000 March 14, 2011 Temporary Spending Bills Continue in Congress I am very concerned that a long-term strategy has not been finalized to fund the government for the remainder of fiscal year 2011. A series of short term continuing resolutions (CRs) have been utilized to keep the government operating, the most recent of these expires at the end of this week. Short-term continuing resolutions (CRs) are neither responsible nor the most efficient way to keep the government running. While a government shutdown might seem like a viable way to force the President's and Democrats' hands on out-of-control spending, I am very concerned about the affect this strategy would have on the Department of Defense, seniors, veterans and others.

Tue, 30 Nov 2010 17:25:00 -0000 The Lame Duck session continues this week and Congress is set to take up the 2011 Continuing Resolution yet again. The 2011 fiscal year began October 1st without completing several of the appropriations bills needed to fund the government. Since the Democrat Majority failed to bring a budget up for consideration, Congress was forced to pass a CR that would continue funding the federal government through December 3rd. With that deadline approaching, we still don’t have a budget and Congress must pass yet another CR to keep the doors of the federal government open for business.

Wed, 24 Nov 2010 02:40:00 -0000 If you’re keeping count, there are only 39 days until the New Year and the LARGEST tax hike in American history. After the first week of the Lame Duck session, Speaker Pelosi’s Congress is no closer to preventing these job-killing tax hikes for every taxpayer. Letting the estate tax return to 55 percent, cutting the child tax credit in half and letting several other tax provisions expire at the end of the year is a tax increase our economy cannot handle. What I know and what the American people know is that raising taxes during the worst economy in decades will kill even more jobs and lead to greater uncertainty for small businesses looking to expand.
