Updated: 2016-09-08T00:35:47.777-04:00

Three Years Later!! Well, the shop has been open 3 years already.  Where in the world did that time go? I am very anxious to get back into the world of blogging, if any of my former followers will have me!! I hope to be able to share with you my love for creativity! Whether it be decorating and setting up lovely vignettes. Or, sharing something new I created.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the good Mom's out there!  An extra special happy Mother's Day to my mom.  My beautiful mom has helped to shape me into the woman I am today.  She has taught me the love of nature and the appreciation of art and how the two go hand in hand.  She has taught me that it is ok to sometimes take the "road less travelled".  I have learned over the years that even if

Art as Inspiration

" I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination.  Imagination is more important than knowledge.  Knowledge is limited.  Imagination encircles the world."  ~ Albert Einstein My daughter is becoming an amazing photographer.  This shot is so surreal and has a hint of magic. Glass globes in a glass bowl.  These seem to fly out of the shop, just a nice novelty to remind us of

Happy New Year!!!

Welcome to 2012!!  I expect to have many, many new and exciting things to share with you this year.  The sheep are all coming into their warm and wooly coats.  A few of the gals have been introduced to Dooley and Patrick (our beautiful rams).  Babies are expected the end of May!  Sixty bags of wool have gone off to my processor and some are ready to pick up, coming back to me as beautiful skeins

A Little Taste of Christmas...

Website Update

Whew !! It certainly takes alot of time to create a website!  In my case we could probably say years!  Anyway, for now I have finally gotten a start on things and have a webshop open.  I have added things from my "brick and mortar" shop including wool from our sheep.  So if you like, come and take a look, and please feel free to "critique".  I am sure you will find some errors and I would truly

New Pictures from the Shop

Just thought I'd share with you some new photos from The Sheep's Nest shop.

Just In.....

In an attempt to find new and exciting things to feature in my shop, I am always on the look out for something different.  New in this week is a wonderful magazine straight from Denmark.  With only a few pages of ads at the back of the magazine (which by the way are just as beautiful as the articles), this is more of a book than magazine.  Jeanne d'Arc Living Magazine is a Home Design Magazine

What an incredible opening weekend! The excitement of the people who came and the comments that were made some how makes all the hard work so worth it."A hidden treasure" is a comment I heard a few times. My husband, John built a "concept wine cellar" to give people ideas of what they can do in their homes. Still some finishing touches to be completed. If you are ever in the upstate NY area stop

A little taste of what's to come...

Just thought I would share a few pictures of the shop. I love this mirror with the sheep, and my mom made the beautiful arrangement. This is a miniature garden I made up in a bird bath, to give you ideas on what to do with the miniature garden tools! One of my favorite angels holding a real birds nest. A mixture of old and new garden goodies. A study in nature.

Almost There !!!!

Well it looks we are almost there!  We have a plan to open on Memorial Day Weekend.  The stucco is only half way done, but there is still time, if the rain lets up.  The interior is almost there too, just waiting for the kitchen cabinets to arrive and a few other little details to button up.  Pricing and labeling and entering inventory takes a lot of time!  Then the fun part of setting things up,

Pretty in Pink

I just finished reading my cousins new blog   My Dishwasher's Possessed!   and realized how much our daughter's have in common.  They both think they are princesses! My youngest daughter just turned 9 and had her birthday party this past weekend.  She is all about pink and everything French!  I love it and had a ball making decorations for her party. She wanted a "Pink Poodle in Paris" party.  I

The New Year

Happy New Year!  Yes I know we are already 2 weeks into the New Year.  The Holidays have been busy and blogging has taken a back seat.  I really do miss visiting with everyone on a regular basis and promise to try to blog more this year. Shop updates…. We are ready to paint the walls this weekend.  I just finished up the texture treatment on the walls and after much debate over what color to

We are Getting Closer!!!!

Well the hustle and bustle of the Summer is gone.  The kids are back to school and the shop is getting closer to completion.  Our new anticipated opening is Spring 2011.  Which will actually give me the winter months to settle in and get things set up.  We still haven't settled on a front door yet, I am still pushing for that arched top door with the speak easy!  The next major projects

Progress on the Cottage

Well, the walls are up and in place. The next step is to chose just the right old barn beams to use. We also used old barn wood for the joists and the ceiling/second story floor. The patina is just beautiful. The old barn beams served as the posts to be exposed on the inside of the building. The roof is next!!!!

The Concrete Has Arrived

Well the weekend was a busy one with lots of hard work and help! The concrete was set to arrive Saturday morning with John worried there wasn't going to be enough.  So in a panic he called and had them add another truck, thank goodness he did!  With 3 truck loads of concrete we just made it. With the radiant heat tubes buried in the concrete, this will be our actual floor of the shop.  So, now

It has been a crazy summer so far, but we have finally started the actual building of the cottage!! We are doing a modified version of an "Alaskan Slab". This is a view from where you will enter the building.  In the background is the main road and the beautiful mountains. This view is from the road side looking towards the back of our property. The water lines and radiant heat tubing have

The Bees Have Arrived........

I  have wanted to raise honey bees for a while now.  This weekend we finally got our first hive and bees.  We are off on a new adventure here!  3lbs of bees !!!  4500 per pound, is it possible there are 13,500 bees here? First to pick the perfect spot. Wouldn't you want to visit this flower? The hive came in pieces and I had to assemble just about every piece of it! These are the

New Logo Design

Still coming up with some ideas for a website background. How about this one? Thank you to all who have commented and emailed, everyone picked a different background from my last post!   Now wait until you see this.  Michelle Palmer designed this logo for me. Isn't it wonderful?????  She also sent me some spot art to play around with, so now I can design my business cards as well as a header for

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah

feel free to use this graphic :) I seem to be having a heck of a time coming up with something to blog about lately.  Why is it that I torture myself thinking that every post has to have wonderful new pictures and interesting comments for everyone to see and read?  Have I forgotten that this blog is suppose to be for me?  I  have been lazy about picture taking, I have started some projects and

A Bit of Nature............

While visiting my parents on LI we went to this amazing place that I have gone to since I was a little girl.It is called the Morton Preserve.  Here, there are trails to walk on through the woods that lead to the beach.  There are no guides and there is nothing commercial about this place.  But the amazing thing is that the birds here have become so used to people that they come and feed right out

It's all in the packaging!!!

My absolutely fabulous package from Anne of Fiona and Twig arrived!!!!! Can you believe all of this was in that box???  Everything was packaged so beautifully. Now to see what was in all of these packages!!! Even the tablecloth they are on was in the box. Some neat books and a little bible. Pins and buttons and keys and scrabble pieces! A pretty Frenchie hat box with some flowers and

Oh, well I guess you have been here all along, it's me who has been away.  I was out of town last week, but I have lots to catch you all up on.  Before I left I won 2 different giveaways!  How exciting was that?  My goodies came while I was away, so I had packages waiting for me when I came home.  Today I am going to share with you what I received from Mary that sweet little Bee! http://
