Hello everyone:)I am so excited to share with you some pictures of our third location of our shop Maison St. Germain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had our Grand Opening on Saturday and what a great success it was. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to share in the excitement with us.It took us about 6 weeks to move and open again. Wow, were we busy. In our town of Woodbury, CT we have the best friends and business people. They would stop in to offer  encouragement,  help, boxes, coffee.....Thank you so much! The business people in town are so friendly and helpful. We are always sharing each others shops with customers. If we don't have something that you are looking for or want another great place to shop  we suggest other shops in town. It is a great community.  And family, well what can I say, thank you and WE LOVE YOU ALL!!!!Since this large space of 3000sq ft of fabulousness was so open, we had the challenge of having to make it warm and cozy. I think we succeeded to do that.  We had soooo much fun doing this shop. What a great space we had to begin with. Nicole and I love it!!! Of course, everyone who knows us, knows to expect the unexpected here. Lots of really different things and really great furniture.                                        Fun vignettes, and lots of color:)  Don, my Son Deg and friend Ryan built us a little village of a clothing boutique within the shop. Each door has a handmade sign of all 4 of my Grandchildren. We carry vintage clothes and NOW new clothing too!!!! We have many handmade items and lots of gifts. Check out those beaded ornaments and Kantha quilts. So yummy.  We need more color in our lives!!!!           Love all of the fun colors.  It is such a happy place to be:)                Oh no! an empty space on the wall lol I'll have to fix that. ha ha We love the industrial 10ft table and the armillary. We carry something for every style home. Vintage is a style that is so versatile. And Maison St. Germain does  ECLECTIC VINTAGE right;) We have a great selection of vintage furniture. Every piece is carefully picked out by us and made into a one of a kind treasure that any family can live with. We paint furniture for customers and we now carry pretty knobs to add to their pieces. One can come in with an item that needs a little love and pick out a color and new knobs specifically for their home. We love to transform old, outdated pieces into special pieces that have the great bones of the past with the fresh new look for today's homes.                                                     Love that little farm table.                                    We have a fabulous selection of hand made lighting!!!!! We also paint signs!!!! It is so much fun to design a vintage sign for someone and see the smile on their face when they see it:) And we love the photos that customers come in to show us with things they have purchased from us.                       Excuse the broom lol . That is our counter enclosed with lace. We love to mix different styles to give an idea that it can be done in your own home. Industrial with cozy hand made qu[...]

Hello everyone:)I've been very busy working on redoing our mudroom. I have cleaned, deleted, painted and redecorated it and am almost done. I was excited to show you what I have done already. I hope you like it.I This is going down stairs into the mudroom. I painted the top portion of the stairs a pretty blue. The bottom I had painted and plastered a while ago but I still really like it, so it stays. These are the original barn stairs. LOVE them:) I hung only my favorite vintage photos back up and gave the others away. That is a wool tube that was used to transport wool.   I have collected over the years select mirrors for this wall.                                    Another view looking up the stairs.I love fabric and paper covered boxes. I only have a few, but they are enough to make a pretty display on top of a cupboard. If you look closely you can see that this great wreath is made of 100s of tiny paper flowers. It is really amazing all the work that went into this wreath. When I bought this cupboard, it was such a mess. I saw potential in it. I added the bow appliques and painted it cream and blue. It now holds my linens.  The needlepoint suitcase in front of it is a new find. I have never seen one like this before. Again, so much talent and work. Love that. I found this fabulous piece of teal tin and nailed it to the front of a shelf for a one of a kind. Old pitchers sit on top while straw hats hang from the bottom. I am going to add millinery flowers and vintage trim to them.                 A small bench made from a bed awaits us to sit and take off our boots.           Fergie was supposed to be helping me but.......................                  A wooden cubby was perfect for flower pots, some vintage, some just pretty. My Granddaughter Stella and I collect ribbons. So far we have horse , chicken and cattle ribbons. We sell the horse ribbons in the shop. I love to read the backs because some have notes written on them by the horse owners or judges. The cutest size hamper. I decorated it with vintage linens, ribbon and millinery flowers. It is perfect for glove and mittens. This area is the last place that I need to work on. I hung the old tin that I bought from PA. It came out of a church. The armoire holds jackets and coats, scarves in the drawer. The wood on the side of it will become hand painted signs and the cabinet to the left will have to find a new spot or new home.                                                  Pretty detail and knobs.Well, that's it for now. Thanks for stopping by.'Till next time.......................................................~Debra xxx[...]

Who went to the Country Living Fair in NY????? We did, we did!!!Last year was the first time Nicole and I had gone and we knew right away that it would be a yearly trip.I tried to document the day to show you what it is like. And is it FUN!                         To start the morning we went to Pete's Famous Restaurant for breakfast. Delish.                       Hi Julie, Martin, Alice, Gretchen and Nicole:)We had a yummy breakfast and was ready to start our adventure to the Great Country Living in NY. It is at the Dutchess Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, NY. A beautiful place to have it, and the weather  was gorgeous.                                       First stop, buy our guys beef jerky. lol  We got there as it opened. We bought our tickets before breakfast so we were able to skip the long lines and walk right in. Live country music welcomed us.          They had everything there. I have never seen whoopie pies this enormous. No, I did not eat one. Loved this dresser! And the artist who paints pictures in this booth is really awesome:) 'Blue Bird' is the name and it was packed with pretty things.              Everyone was enjoying the weather and the great shopping experience in the country.                                     Lots of wooden ladders and boxes.                                                                  How cute is this?                                          I love old cars and their parts;) OMG, this booth had the most beautiful boots and shoes. We were amazed at the  work that went into these  embroidered beauties.                     Oh, I did love this booth and had to bring a topiary home. Love my plants:)                                                                         Pretty whites. Some of the dealers were in buildings, some in tents, while others were outside under the sunshine. This woman sells at Brimfield too. I have bought so many great burlap treasures from her. Very creative and hard working lady.                                     These  pumpkins w[...]

As I was driving to work this morning, admiring how beautiful Spring is this year, I reminded myself, as I often do, of how blessed I truly am. I wanted to breath in every second of the gorgeous morning. The trees are almost through leafing, the flowers in the gardens are blooming, the birds are singing and enjoying my feeders. Just the perfect day. We spent the weekend at the lake.  There is nothing quite like having family and great friends to spend time with. Another blessing. This is where memories are made. Don fished with the girls in the morning and caught a fish right away.  We all slept at the cottage and were up very early. Don surprised me with coffee in bed and made everyone his specialty eggs and bacon. Fibi tried to catch a large bass that was protecting her eggs. The girls are growing like little wild flowers.                              Teo was there to help them out if their fishing poles got tangled. Our newest baby love, Silas enjoyed sitting with Stella. He is already a little ham loving his photo taken. The kids spent the day in the lake never even testing the water to see what the temperature was. They just ran to the end of the dock and jumped in. lol                     The raft was big enough to hold a bunch of them.             My son Deg is a great Dad. He has so much fun with Si.                                                      Maci, my little mermaid.                        Liz is a great Mom too. So devoted and fun.              Sara and Erin came and brought yummy smore cakes. These girls are making memories. They will remember the time they spent at the lake and how much fun they had. Hope your weekend was a great one. We are all blessed to be celebrating Memorial Day. Thank you to all Veterans for keeping us free and safe. And also to their families. God Bless each and everyone of you.'Till next time..............~Debra xxx[...]

Yesterday was such a gorgeous day. Sunny, warm. I walked through the garden and was so happy to see that there are tiny plants starting to pop already. I had the front door open all day and spent the day doing things around the barn. One of my favorite things to do.I can't wait to get outside and start cleaning the gardens and putting the new feeders and bird houses in there place. I bought two new hummingbird feeders. I always put them close to the windows so that we can watch them. They are fascinating. Since I had to wash slipcovers, I'd decided to dress this sofa with blues.  That is a Waverly slipcover bought from Surefit. I love the ruffles. We use blues in the shop and it always looks so pretty. So that was my inspiration for the library. Different shades, patterns of ticking and flowers and you know me, lots of layers.                            Oh I just LOVE how the sofa came out!!!!  This smiles cozy to me:)                       I found this cool little table at an antique sale years ago. Now it hold some of my many books. I really must go through my books and give some of them to a good home. Love the cut out cross on the table.                           But, look at this one. What a great title and cover. This is a keeper;)                        One of my favorite blue oriental rugs. Even worn these rugs are so lovely to me.                          Cutest little blue chippy chair with old ticking pillow cased pillow.                        Old wooden box with old velvet tacked to the front. Showcasing old cloudy bottles.             The scented leaves on this dainty plant smell like lemons. It sits on our stone pond. I love listening to the trickling of the water and watching the fish eat. I love collecting old boxes. I filled this one with another favorite of mine, old tools. They remind me of my childhood.  My Father did lots of carpentry work while my Grandfather was a well known wood carver. Great juxtaposition of pink girly pillows in the background and an old box of tools in the front. I painted this round frame blue and hung it on our pink door.                                    I couldn't get another flower inside of this great large basket. I wrapped it with vintage velvet and millinery flowers.                                      This weeks flowers from my fabulous family. Having fresh flowers in the barn always make it that more special.'Till next time......~Debra xxxI hope you are having a beautiful week so far. Rain all week for us here but its melting away the snow so I can deal with it. Next week is promised to be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![...]

It really felt like Spring today. The sun was out, blue sky, and it was actually in the 50's. I'll take it. It put me in the mood for some Spring color and a project. The nurseries are starting to open  here in town and one of my favorites is 'The Garden'. Everything is always displayed so lovely and it's a fun place to shop for seasonal decor and fabulous plants for inside and out. What a selection!!! While Maci and I were out on Saturday, we decided to see what they were up too and we were not disappointed. I picked up some burlap and some picked cotton. I love those two together. Then I sat down and put together this simple but rustic wreath. I was happy with it and had to hang it right away. So on my bakers cabinet it went.                     I also picked up some pretty flowers this weekend and put them around the barn. African violets were on sale so I brought these pretty ones home. They are enjoying the sunshine today. I have been looking for daffodils for weeks and finally found them. Such happy little flowers. I put them in an engraved old tea pot....                                                         ...... and some on my counter. This old scale usually holds a little bunch of flowers for me. It makes doing dishes just a bit more cheerful;)Have you put any Spring flowers in your home? It is amazing how a little bunch of daffodils can brighten ones day.'Till next time.......................~Debra xxx[...]

Nicole and I have been so busy around the shop lately. We have some pretty new things to show you.  Spring will be here in 12 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whhhoooohoooooo  Now, I know we live in New England but OMG it has been a tough Winter. The snow was pretty but the cold and ice were unbelievable. SO, we have decided to bring in Spring in a little bit early. And so far our customers are enjoying it:)                                                                     Some new paintings. Feed sack purses.  We bought these last Spring at the Country Living Fair. So adorable. This was a fun piece to redo. It comes in two pieces, great knobs, nice detail. Perfect!                                                           A bowl of sunshine. This fabulous round table goes from this size to very long with two leafs. Love the legs on this one. Ladies, do you have your cowgirl boots yet? Spring dresses are right around the corner and what better to wear them with but cowgirl boots!                                                                       Fun old buttons.                                                                    Cutest little stool.                             Do you love wooden boxes as much as I do?              You don't need a horse to display horse ribbons. They are fun and affordable @ $6.00.                            Our pretty new scarves are in with lots of fun colors to choose from.                                This display just screams SPRING!!!                One of our favorite dressers. Complete with mercury glass knobs. So sweet. This would even look great in a powder room or end of hallway. Now this piece is special all the way around. It was once a child's doll dresser. It was handmade with the drawers crafted out of old food crates. I could see jewelry in this baby. Made some new lampshades, vintage fabrics, millinery flowers and trim. Fronts and backs are both deco[...]

CAUTION!!! You may need to make a pot of coffee and find a nice comfy spot as post consists of lots of inspirational photos. It's 2015 and not that we actually need an excuse to change the shop around, I'm going to go with that. We have had so much fun taking down Christmas and making the shop pretty in a whole different way. I couldn't wait to show you:)          Whites in the front window. An old hamper embellished with vintage lace and paper flowers. Cute white tulip chandy and chair.                                                         Adorable chalk dog.                             Great old hamper would be great to store wrapping paper and ribbons.                     Farm equipment, old shelve and Kantha quilts. These quilts are so awesome! Pine tree sign - wooden. Our frames are adorned with vintage millinery flowers. Each one different, always pretty. Old drawer is so cool. It holds new scarves and other goodies.                              Who doesn't love a vintage pink chair:)                                     Lightly scented cinnamon candles. Mantels are always so much fun to decorate. We did ours in silver pots and trays. Little white trellises in the front with garden watering cans. This door is so fabulous! Chippy in all of the right places. Little settee with Kantha quilt sits in front. Ticking pillows with vintage lace and millinery flowers add to the comfy look. Old books have a way of making a space feel cozy. I just love books, as you know and the older the better.                     Now why aren't these old garden books in my own collection? Hmmmm            And stools, well they are so perfect when decorating and need to add a bit of height to an area. Love this wooden trough filled with burlap bags. It is so versatile . Use it for flowers, towels, books, shoes........ Give me an 'A'! I used to have an old desk like this when I was little. I spent hours playing office. It has a neat little wooden tray that pulls out.                Nice long blue shelf with roses. Works in any room. Another FABULOUS tall thin door! This one comes from an old farmhouse. The cute cabinet would be so cute in a powder room filled with necessities. Industrial boxes on the desk are great to hold notes and mail. OK, this is my newest favorite chair in the shop. If we don't sell it soon, it's coming home with me.                      Corner hutch fill with silver plated loveliness.                        &nb[...]

HAPPY 2015 MY FRIENDS !!!!!!

Wow ! What a fun and exciting New Years Eve we had:) We were invited to participate and show our own line of clothing, Vintage Vixen, at the New England Fashion Design Association in Westport, CT last night!!!! What an awesome experience it was. We love creating our own clothing design and the audience seemed to have loved it too. We picked out the perfect upbeat, fun music, dressed our 6 models and off they went.    Nicole, me and the gorgeous Alaina waiting for the show to begin. These girls were amazing and strutted their stuff on the runway. We told them that this is a fun collection and we wanted them to enjoy it. So go out there and have fun, no serious faces, dance if you feel like it!!! We can't thank them enough! Now at first I thought they were models BUT later found out that they were in school to become designers too!!!!! And wow were their own designs fabulous!                            We are so proud of how they made our clothing look fun and romantic. Vintage bloomers with lace bows, a simple tank topped with lace shoulders, and a necklace made from vintage fabulousness. We would like to thank Professor Seminova, who owns a fashion design school here in CT. She is just the most amazing person. Just the sweetest most creative artist you would want to meet. She has such a beautiful outlook on life too. Thank you to her Son Carl too as he ran all of the music.                                   This is the last outfit that we ended with and Alaina looked like a princess twirling around the floor in it. Flowers in her hair and cowboy boots made this vintage look fun.Julie, great sense of humor, was in total control and did a great job. She was a natural. Thank you to her sweet boyfriend who was there to photograph the behind the scenes. When he sends us some pics I will share them. We would also like to thank Alaina for being our own personal model.Michele, for doing hair and bringing her positive fun personality.Joy, for the incredible make up. She just may have another job. Between the clothes, the hair and makeup , the look was totally perfect. Everything just fell into place.Thank you to Joey for all of the encouragement and excitement you gave us and for being our photographer. And of course to all of the models who helped us by wearing Vintage Vixen. Good luck to all of you in your future designing careers.Best New Year Eve Ever!!!We love you all!We are so blessed to have such wonderful friend:) Wishing you all the best year yet, filled with love, good health, peace, and new adventures around every corner. ......FA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA!Hope you are all doing fabulous in this very busy time of the year.  I don't know about you but decorating here has been slooooow. I am done! I keep in mind that spending time with family and friends is much more important than how many decorations I have around anywhere;)  Don and the girls decorated the big tree this year. The did an awesome job and had a lot of fun spending that time with Grampy. I can watch them for hours laughing, dancing, singing and finding just the right place for that special ornament. Makes my heart smile:)          The big tree is always trimmed with glass ornaments.  LOL A special touch of Christmas decorating by Fibi :) She was so proud that she put the Santa stop sign there that I couldn't remove it:)  A large cone filled with a white Christmas tree and ornaments.              My friend Robin made us this cute little snowman years ago. It always finds a place here for winter.                            I love this little Christmas tree!!! Simple and perfect for the library. Simple greens and a tin tree that I bought months ago and have had it up since. Its just so pretty, made of old ceiling tin and architectural pieces.    A twig deer with a burlap bow trimmed with pine cones.                                    Greens and white bottle brush trees.Another fun tree inside of my old truck. Wishing you all a wonderful and blessed Christmas. I hope 2015 brings you happiness, good health, and lots of new fun adventures. FA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LAAAAAAAAAAA ~Till next time.................~Debra xxx[...]

Years ago I visited my girlfriend Marci. Her Christmas tree was absolutely gorgeous to me. It was an old fashioned Charlie Brown tree. A blue spruce. Ever since then, Don and I have always looked for that special skimpy vintagie tree. This year was no different, except for the tree farm that we went to. This tree farm is named  "Ragland" and it's right in our town of Woodbury. Every afternoon I would drive by it checking out all of the beautiful Blue Spruce trees. We have been watching them to grow for the past 14 years and now it was time to explore.  Don picked out two saws. One for us and one for Deg, Liz and baby Silas:) Once Silas's sock monkey hat was fixed we were ready to go. The trees were beautiful and the snow that we had gotten a couple of days earlier made it all the more fun. Now, I'd like to say that we searched high and low for the perfect specimen, but I'd be lying. lol It took about 4 minutes. All of the trees were so beautiful. We have always had full, plump, tall trees. Now we get slimmer  trees. And while we can fit a super tall tree in the solarium, I find something sweet about a smaller tree just packed with lights and vintage glass ornaments.                         It didn't take Liz, Deg and Silas long either.          This old truck sits in the middle of the tree farm. Love it. LOVE these three!!!                                 There goes their tree, off to our truck.                                                                      Liz and Silas.                                                They chose a very tall tree:)                                    Hahahaha look at how tiny ours is!                                    Well, I could have carried that......                                       Show off. Don it's really not big.                    Little baby love is very happy about their choice and excited to go out for pizza.                Don and Deg also bought some maple syrup! Yum!                     &nb[...]

I LOVE ART! ....and chairs. Am I the only one who loves chairs? I don't think I have ever met a chair that I didn't like. Oh, some are perfect in their natural state and I wouldn't change a thing while others are looking for a little update. Those are so much fun to recreate. In my last post I showed you our Christmas chair that we made to sell at our shop. I may make one for each holiday:) When Nicole and I went to Jennifer Lanne's barn for a day of painting, she had us paint a funky chair. OMG it was so much fun!!! Not only to meet her, she is so sweet, but to learn from someone who's art I have admired for a very long time. That is my chair below in the green that I did at her class. Fun right? I enjoy collecting other peoples paintings and display most of them on a large wall in our solarium like a little art gallery. Some are mine and some are family's, the rest are treasures that found a home on my wall. I love to study all of the different styles that others use. Everyone has their own style while no two styles are ever the same. This is my cozy reading chair. I usually lay across on it and read under my hanging light that I put together.    An old chair that I covered with a soft burlap and crochet doily. This is one of those chairs that I fell in love with. Someone had taken the fabric off of it leaving it with this wonderful state. We don't use it to sit on rather just enjoy its natural beauty.  My poor attempt at slip covering by sewing it by hand. I found this beautiful barkcloth and loved it for the chair. Some day when there is more time I will finish it. Children's chairs are so cute and fun. I have a bunch of them around. I put them around my tables that are in front of my sofas. In the shop we hang them on the wall for shelves and on the side of beds used as side tables for books and an alarm clock.               Original green painted chair in front of an old desk. Our library. The table is made from an old door and topped with glass. All of the chairs are different but painted the same color.                              A chair that in our bedroom. Well, those are some of the chairs in our barn. Do you like chairs as much as I do?'Till next time.......................................~Debra xxx[...]

He is gorgeous and huge but tiny. lol I went to see him again today and the swelling in his face went down and OMG I just love this little guy. What fun he is bringing our lives already. He is so precious.       He was born with a huge bruise on his little forehead because he was waiting to be born and in the same spot for so long.                     Nicole was squeezing him to much......just saying. Don't get any ideas Missy. lol This little one is going to have so many parents lol.Can you tell how excited I am. Hello everyone, September is the end of Summer and the last week of the Brimfield Antique show.  I go to every show and this the first time it has been a very hot September show! Friday was girls day for us, Robin, Gretchen, Liz and Balcus sp(?) were my partners in crime. We had a mission of finding the perfect treasures to bring back. We had so much fun laughing from the time  we left my house until we got the time we got home. We all search for different things so we were scattered for some of the time but kept meeting up. I wanted to share some of the cool things that I saw this year.                                              Industrial is always big at this show.                                                                 So pretty.                                           Love everything in this photo.   Nautical. Now that we have a little lake cottage I look at the water decorations.                                                                                         Cool industrial lights. In my kitchen I use just the shade on my lights and get the same look as the green ones.                               Tuesday Don and I went to the show. He met a long lost friend.                                                             Uh....NO OK this is so important!!!!! If you  are ever lucky enough to go to the show you have got to have a pilgrim sandwich.  It is the most devine sandwich you will ever have.                                   Brought home some pretty clothes home for the shop.                             &nbs[...]

AND THEY'RE OFF.................................................

Well, it was 'the' day this morning. The day that the girls went back to school and boy were they excited! Stella in the back, Fibi and Maci. Poor May got stung near her eye a couple of days ago and Nicole sent a letter to school explaining that she doesn't usually look like this, ha ha Poor little baby. This is the first year that they are in the same school so they will be able to see each other in the hall ways. Stella picked out this little summery outfit with boots to wear to 5th grade. 5th grade???? I remember cutting the cord on her when she was born. How dare she grow up so quickly!!!!               The always in style Maci, picked out this pretty dress and pulled it off quite nicely. 1St grade this year. Stop growing!!!!!! And last but not least, Fibi picked out a blue fancy bowed dress for her first day of kindergarten. She was so excited!                     Look at the size of those book bags. And they weigh as much as my purse! There is daddy walking them to the bus. Lots of kissing going around this morning. I think we even kissed the bus driver.                                               And off they go.  Happy and laughing !Hope you kids are lovin' school this year:)'Till next time ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,~Debra xxx[...]

Have you ever gone to the  Bouckville market? It is about 4 hours from our home so we left the night before. We walked for miles to find treasures for the shop and for our home. I only took a few pictures, but you will get the idea of the fun you can have there.I think these campers are just the coolest! Even the  tents were pretty. Lots of styles of home décor there. Prims, shabby chic, traditional, modern, industrial........ This was one of my favorite booths. All of the things I love. And the woman who owned it was a doll. Hi everyone:) You know how much I love to show you photos of our new shop. Maybe give you a little inspiration. We are so thrilled with our new space. Can you tell? Look at how pretty a few old bottles filled with garden flowers can make a table cheerful. So easy and such a great impact. OOOOH Look at the size of this moth!!!! He was huge and I think he was eyeing up our vintage gown hanging on the door:)                 Does anyone know what he is and anything about him?      We put all of our silver together in our teal hutch. Soooo pretty and some really great pieces.                    Does this bench with the color I used just SCREAM to RELAX or else? lol                   Of course we have a galvanized tub of fabulous goldfish. And boy can they eat! What a fun project to do with the kids. In the winter you can bring it inside. This is entering our shop. Yes we changed it already and hung lots of pretty paintings. Check out that wicker chair in the corner. With the right cushion I could fall easily fall asleep in it.                      This bust was so pretty that I had to bring her in. OK Nicole ALWAYS wanted to have a disco ball in the shop and oh do we have one. I have never realized how large they are. She is hoping it doesn't sell. lol I have to keep an eye on her or she'll take it home. Nicole painted this awesome table. It came out great and has that wonderful bottom shelf too.                                  Comfy pillows and a vintage kantha quilt. Does it get any better? Oh how we love these old ice cream benches. This is one, the other one we will work on when it stops raining some time next week. There has to be about 6 layers of paint.                                                               Comfy and large                                                   Plant markers anyone? This awesome vanity and slipper chair WAS sold but things didn't quite work out so they are now for sale again. Absolutely gorgeous.                                             &nb[...]
