pretty love seat...

In my last blog post, waaaaay back at the end of September, I mentioned I would soon be sharing something new to me.I know it is almost the end of November.I tend to post more often over on my Facebook page or on Instagram.{sorry}I plan to begin decking the halls this weekend, after Thanksgiving, so I thought I better show you the change I made in my den before the holiday decorations go up...See the pretty love seat...I love this fabric!  This sweet piece was in my favorite Aunt's home for as long as I can remember.  She recently moved and did not have enough room for it in her new place and gave it to me.I can't tell you how happy this makes me...Thank you Auntie Joan...xo!This little change makes this my favorite room in the house right now!Oh, and some of you may remember the makeover my den received  last year (you can see that post here) and the new chairs I bought from Target and how I just loved the look...well those chairs are on my local yard sale site and Craigslist now!Anyone else change their mind as often as me?!!Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving!I am excited to kick off the holiday season and will {hopefully} be back soon to share some Christmas vignettes with you!Thank you for stopping by![...]

Scott FitzgeraldMy Autumn decor is simple again this year.I found my favorite baby boos early and spread them around the house...I love how a few of them still had some little tendrils...I finally found what I've been looking for to mount inside my pretty old frame that hangs on the reclaimed wood in the corner of my den...I love it and how it looks with my sign...I had a pixie dust moment this week ~ Fifi came to do a photo shoot at the Shop!It was such a wonderful experience and a pleasure to finally meet her as well as Mark and Taylor Lohman.Thank you Fifi!I have something new (to me) to share with you soon...stay tuned! Thanks for stopping by![...]

May flew by, didn't it?It took forever for Spring to arrive here in New England, but it was worth the wait.We spent each beautiful weekend relaxing at our home sweet home away from home in our glamper nestled in the pines.I enjoyed being unplugged on the weekends, giving me a chance to catch up on my favorite magazines and gather inspiration.I started off with the Summer issue of Artful Blogging. It was so interesting reading the articles of the other Bloggers that were featured in the issue (yes, I'm still pinching myself).Meeting these talented people through their amazing photos and  stories led me to visit their blogs and expand my blog list other than just home decor ones.Take a peek for yourself...Samantha Heather at samanthaheatherblog.comCandice Ransom at C. at tworedbowls.comThese are just a few of the over 160 inspiring photos from this beautiful issue of Artful Blogging which you can order here.Stampington & Company is offering a copy of this issue to one of my lucky readers!  All you have to do is leave a comment on this post between now and Tuesday June 9th.Good Luck! Thanks again to Danielle with Artful Blogging and Katie with Stampington & Co!Happy June everyone ~ and as always, thank you for stopping by!![...]

artful blogging...

I had a pixie dust moment this past weekend!

I'm still pinching myself today!

Thank you Stampington & Company, Somerset Studio and especially Danielle Mohler, the Managing Editor of Artful Blogging for this wonderful opportunity!

The issue, which you can find in major bookstores May 1st, is so beautiful and inspiring, I would love for you to check it out for yourself!

my guest room...

I now have a guest room in my home.My little girl moved out to her first placeand I miss her. While I am very happy for her and it really was time,I miss her.Gone are the bright pink walls and the Audrey Hepburn print from Ikea behind the door that was shut most days to hide the clutter (I don't miss that).  Also gone ~ all the extra accessories I had to choose from to complete my outfit each day!I got busy on the makeover shortly after "moving day".It helped to keep busy.I gave the room a fresh coat of paint from the ceiling to the trim to the walls, using paint I already had.Jim and Jake ripped up the carpet and, after a good cleaning, the hardwood floors look pretty good!I found some lovely curtain panels at Marshalls.  I only bought one pair, with plans of using one panel on each window and swagging them....I did not really love the swag look, so I have been hunting high and low in all the Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Homegoods stores near me for another pair.No luck so far.Do you have one of those stores near you?I brought this dresser home from my space at the Wrentham Country Store and repainted it...Then my friend (and fellow Shop Girl at the WCS) Jeannie stenciled it for me...I love it, thank you Jeannie!I topped it with a new lamp and shade from Walmart and one of my favorite treasures, an old french print that was my Mom's.The room is far from done but I am in no rush.My camping season starts in 9 days (so excited) and that usually means all projects around the house get put off until the Fall. Our punch list of installing and painting a new closet door, installing new bamboo shades (to add texture to the room) as well as getting a new bed and all the other furniture for the space can wait. The season of yard sales, flea markets and thrifting with my girlfriends on the weekends is here.I am looking forward to hunt for the perfect or perfectly imperfect pieces but am also willing to wait until I find them.I plan on making over this room on a very low budget and am looking forward to the challenge! While it is wonderful to have a whole room, a blank canvas to create in, it has been a little bittersweet.I miss you Jaclyn, but I am so proud of you for all that you have accomplished in this past year, a new job, your first place and a happy heart! That makes my heart happy ~ I love you!Thank you for stopping by today![...]

chanel's shabby rose...

Thought I would pop in today(or should I say hop in today, with Easter this weekend)and share a few pictures from the soft opening ofa lovely shabby vintage shop,Chanel's Shabby Rosein it's new, larger location at the Winsmith Mill Market in Norwood MA.The "Mill" is where I have a space at The Vintage Peacock. My sister in law Christine of White and Worn (who is at the Wrentham Country Store with me) has taken a space in this shop too, and that's where I'll begin the tour...I love your space Christine!Keep scrolling to see the rest of the shop!In the back of the shop there is a vintage clothing section with a dressing room...(Isn't this gorgeous...I'll be blogging about this piece very soon.)As I mentioned, today was Mary's soft opening and there were still boxes being unpacked and treasures being brought in, but I think you can get a good feel of her lovely shabby shop! This shop and all the other shops at the Mill are open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday (closed this Sunday though). Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed the tour![...]

spring is in the air...

Spring is in the air around here as the temps went up this past week and the snow banks started to melt down!

I picked up a few bunches of baby's breath at the market the other day and spread them around the house...

Enjoy your weekend!

Follow along with me in Instagram and Facebook!

waiting for spring...

Since the completion of our Pinterest project in our kitchen(you can read all about it here),I needed to find a new spot for my farmhouse sign.It did not take long to find the perfect place for it...I had been shopping and treasure hunting for months for a sign to hang over our desk in the den.Looks like I needed to shop my own house!Being stuck in the house during so many snow days lately, I did some more "shopping" around my house and put together this new vignette on the other side of the den...These pretty old trophy cups were in my studio...According to the rule I need one more (you know, display things in odd numbers)...Shopping my own house, or moving a few things from one room to another, makes me feel like the room has a new look and I did not spend any money!(are you reading this Jim?)I love the color of these dried hydrangeas, they are the perfect reminder that Spring will be here soon...via PinterestI know there are only 24 more days until Spring(and 68 more days til my camping season begins), but right now it doesn't seem like all this snow will ever melt! Are you enjoying an early Spring or are you buried under too much snow too?!Thanks so much for stopping by![...]

happy valentine's day...

Happy Valentine's Day!

new year, new look...

The new year has brought many changes and a new look to theWrentham Country Store...The front room is now home to 3 of our 9 new vendors...We carry the Maison Blanche line of chalk paint (looking forward to trying it out)...The new Shop Girls slowly joined us starting in January...By the first of February, we had a full house again...As I have said many times, these new vendors are joining a team of talented people who I am very lucky to work with. The finds they bring in and pieces they repurpose has me at times sneaking things in to my nest before Jim gets home...Mary Ellen left the Shop at the end of the year and we all wish her well. She is going to be hosting pop up sales, the first coming at the end of April.  I'll share details as the date gets closer.I'm very thankful she took a chance on me and welcomed me to the Shop back in 2009.I'll miss our Saturday mornings together! If you live local and haven't been to the Shop in a while and are going stir crazy with all the snow lately (with more to come over the next few days), stop by and see what's new!We are hosting an Open House onThursday, February 19th from 6 to 9 pm!Bring some friends and make it a night out! Thanks so much for stopping by!Remember you can follow me on Facebook and Instagram too!Links on my sidebar.[...]

vintage peacock...

Is December going by way too fast for anyone else?Am I the only one who has not started Christmas Shopping yet?I am that person who makes lists, checks them twice and is usually just about ready to wrap it all up by now. This year I have been extra busy as I took another space in a multi-dealer shop in Norwood, MA calledThe Vintage Peacock.Owned by Maureen and Peter, two vendors who I worked with at the Wrentham Country Store, this wonderful shop is the result of a revitalization of an old mill that is now full of life through a collection of shops like The Vintage Peacock selling antiques as well as vintage and repurposed items. The Winsmith Mill Market is a great way to spend the day treasure hunting as there is also a small cafe, a shop that carries Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, home to the Norwood Art Association as well as the very popular monthly market, Vintage Thymes. After the holidays I am looking forward to spending more time getting to know the other vendors and their shops and will be sharing their spaces here with you!My space at The Vintage Peacock is a smaller space than I have ever had but I love the challenge of it!Here is a little peek...The Vintage Peacock, located inside the Winsmith Mill Market, is open every Friday and Saturday from 10 - 4, and on Sunday from 12 - 4.A trip to "the mill" should be on your road trip list for the new year! You can follow them on Facebook here. This past weekend we said goodbye to Jim's grandmother.Nana was 96 and this beautiful lady was one of the most loving, caring, strong and funny women I have ever met.A true inspiration. Her stories that she shared from her home in New Foundland and the life she lived here, raising her family of 5 will forever be in our hearts.Thank you Nana, your love and devotion to your family made us all feel very special. My favorite photo of my children and their Great Nana, Christmas 2012.[...]
