Hi there

Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but I'm really keen on making a shower surround out of corrugated metal. I think I might have finally persuaded my husband around to my way of thinking, but he's come up with a question that I don't think you've covered, and wonder if you can help me with please? The question is: How did you manage to seal the area around where you made the hole for the on/off/temperature control dial? He's naturally concerned about water getting through to the walls behind, and if I can convince him that there's a way to stop this, then I think he might run with it. PLEASE please help, :-)

Love the look! I was wondering about sealing all the screws so water would not work it's way behind. Did you seal each screw, and what did you use?
Thank you!

What an exciting undertaking...I just love old houses! Corrugated metal would look beautiful behind a claw foot tub. :)

I like your pictures here and the material choices you picked out for your bathroom. I recently bought a tiny 100 plus old farmhouse in NC and the house has original pine plank floors, except for the bathroom. The original outhouse is still standing across the road. LOL. But the add on bathroom that was done here years ago, has nasty tile flooring and I can't wait to rip them out. I want to simplify and so am considering the corrugated metal behind my claw foot tub for ease of keeping it clean vs tile and grout. Thanks for the inspiration here on your blog.

I think a water leak would damage pretty much any floor so unless you're considering something industrial go with the wood! Most homes with wood floors have it in the kitchen too so it must not be too much of an issue. I love your leggy furniture! Very mid-century mod! Classic!

Thanks b! I actually do already have the rug for the bedroom but I'm in no hurry to use it since I've been living with only subflooring in most of the house for years, lol!

oh man, that closet is a dream, and i love your minimal look in the bedroom. i reread your post to see if you mentioned it, but you aren't getting a rug? to me, that not only finishes the look, but creates a lot of warmth to your space. rug or not, enjoy your new space. oh and awesome job building the bed and head board!

I love that your parents are doing that! when we bought our house it had a small guest house that was in terrible shape. We've done a lot of work on it and now my in-laws have a place to stay when they come to visit and we all love it! I also love how your house is turning out.

Hi there, I enjoyed your post on your galvanized metal shower. I wondered if you have a post about the original install of the walls, specifically the install of the round shower handle hardware where you turn the water off and on. What did you put behind that to fill the gap created by the waves in the metal?
