Ubuntu and Desktop Notificationschipx86

Thu, 25 Dec 2008 07:09:12 +0000

This past Monday, Mark Shuttleworth wrote about their plans for an overhaul of desktop notifications (the little popup bubbles telling you someone IM’d you or there’s updates available). Many people have asked me about this, some concerned, and wanted to know what I thought. Being the maintainer of libnotify, notification-daemon and the Desktop Notifications specification, […](image)

libnotify 0.4.5 and notification-daemon 0.4.0 releasedchipx86

Thu, 20 Nov 2008 11:58:11 +0000

It’s been a long time since I’ve really put out a libnotify or notification-daemon release. Review Board and VMware have taken up a lot of time the past year, so development has been slow, but I think these releases are worth it. libnotify 0.4.5 [Release Notes] [Downloads] This is mostly a small bug fix release, […](image)

Transparent notification screenshotschipx86

Thu, 01 Mar 2007 01:31:00 +0000

In my release announcement for the new libnotify and notification-daemon, I advised that people try the new release in order to see the transparent notifications for themselves. This was obviously a mistake as many people wanted to see screenshots. Silly me. I guess I thought that this was one of those things that looked better […](image)

New libnotify and notification-daemon releases are out!chipx86

Wed, 28 Feb 2007 07:52:45 +0000

I’ve just put out libnotify 0.4.4 and notification-daemon 0.3.7 releases. I highly advise that everybody upgrades, as several memory leaks, rendering glitches and other bugs have been fixed. Along with these releases is some basic support for accessibility in the notifications and a nice, subtle transparent effect on the notifications when running on a system […](image)

libnotify 0.4.1/0.4.2 releasedchipx86

Sun, 18 Jun 2006 01:38:32 +0000

I just put out a release of libnotify 0.4.1. It has support for the new GtkStatusIcon (when compiled against GTK+ 2.9.2 or higher) and the documentation has been moved over to gtk-doc, so if you compile libnotify with –enable-gtk-doc, you should see a new “Libnotify” book in devhelp. There’s also a bunch of bug fixes […](image)

New libnotify, notification-daemon and notify-python releaseschipx86

Wed, 26 Apr 2006 09:35:16 +0000

I’m very tired, so I’ll keep this brief. I just put out libnotify 0.4.0, notification-daemon 0.3.5, and notify-python 0.1.0 releases. Most of the really annoying bugs people have reported have been fixed. More information is available on the news post. I made a decision that will be unpopular to some, and I expect some disagreement […](image)

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Chicken, now in gelatin stylechipx86Dinner!

Sun, 19 Jun 2005 21:47:24 +0000

Something I threw together the other night in Inkscape Galago I finally gave up with the whole “playing everything politically safe” with Galago and am now moving the whole library to GLib. It’ll take some time, and there’s a few things I need to figure out first. For example, a very useful feature that Galago’s […](image)
