Hi Nix! So sorry for the late reply! Glad this post was able to help you somewhat :) We usually serve this with rice (our staple side here in the Philippines!) but this would also be good with some crusty country-style bread and a green salad on the side!

Hi, I know you made this ages ago, but i was searching for the recipe everywhere! i have made it before (The Donna Hay version), but have misplaced the mag i got it from!
What did you serve this with? having friends for dinner and what to "impress" with little time on my hands, last time i did it with a sweet potato rosemary mash which was amazing, but quite rich! what would you suggest?
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated, and im so glad and came across your blog!

Thanks! :)

Hi Kickpleat! Thanks! It would definitely be perfect for autumn :) Only thing is that we don't have autumn here...ah well, I can enjoy it with the a/c on! ;)

Hi Karen! So happy you enjoyed this! :) I checked out your post and it looks delicious too...will try it with capers next time :) Thanks for the tip!

Your photo looked so mouthwatering that we had to try your recipe last weekend. Thank you so much...it hit the spot perfectly on a cold autumn night! The beans definitely round out the meal. Certainly a dish that we'll make again soon.

Posted our cooking attempt with photos on my website. Though ours was nowhere near as photogenic as yours =)

Thanks Brilynn! It really does pack a lot of flavor :)

Hi Amanda! My family loves beans and so does C :) So we have done our time singing that little ditty :)

Thanks so much for that sweet comment Jen! Hehe :) I just read a lot of food magazines and cookbooks and get ideas from there...plus I love to eat! Hahaha!

Hi Aria! What my mom and aunts do is fry it with a little water so that it kinda "boils" first and then the water evaporates and it proceeds to fry and get that caramelized coating...I just toss it in the pan and fry it because I'm too lazy! :)

Hi Maybahay! Sinampalukang manok is perfect in the rainy season...and my husband has really mastered this dish...aw! I'm such a fan, hehe :)

Hi Manggy! In this dish I just drained them, although in other dishes I rinse them too...didn't know about the oligosaccharides! Yes, Terry's sells pimenton, a bit pricey but you can use it sparingly...also, a friend of mine saw some in Assad's (Indian grocery along UN Ave or Jupiter)!

Hi Belinda! Thanks so much :) The dish was a wedding present...and the tea towel I bought because I liked the way it looked, only to come home and find out it was lousy at absorbing water! So now it's either used as props or for hot dihes...heehee :)

Hi KM! Omg! You absolutely made my night! :) So happy to hear you guys enjoyed it!!! And with the chicken breasts too! YAY! :) I'll be checking out your blog for the post!

OMG Joey! I could not help myself last night, and decided to make the dish. I forgot to get olives so I used capers instead, about 2 Tbsps, instead, and used the chicken breast, and OMG - I can't say it enough - IT WAS FABULOUS! G loved it too. Plus the beans did have that fabada feel to them. We had it on an 80 degree F evening with toasted baguette rounds. It was absolutely great. This is going on my regular repertoire! IT WAS FABULOUS! Photos of my version will be going on my blog shortly. FABULOUS!

This sounds so tasty, Joey...I love your version of the recipe. And it looks so beautifully presented in the white baking dish, against the green of the cloth...gorgeous! :-)

I give the beans a short rinse too-- the liquid they come in is chock-full of tooting oligosaccharides. However, they are good for you, so tooting isn't so bad! Just chew them well!

I just found out that Terry's sells pimenton (and that Hi-Top sells anisado wine... Not that I would make cured meats any time soon). But everything's so expensive at Terry's! I nearly passed out when I saw the price of their cheeses! Makes me realize how luxuriously some Filipinos really live..

This sounds perfect! Katiez comment made me laugh as we've eaten a lot of beans and never once not been musical!! Love it!

Hi Day to Day Chronicles! Thanks for stopping by :) Let me know if you do get to try it out! Hope you like it :)

Hi Kelly-jane! I don't blame you...chorizo is very addictive! :) I loved that Donna Hay featured it!

Thanks Rosa! :)

Hi KM! This would be great in the cold...like in a real autumn! Heehee :) I'm sure it'll work (in theory) with skinless chicken breast fillet, but like you said it will be better with the skin, bones, and fat! :) You've got the chorizo in there already...a little chicken skin won't hurt, hehehe ;)

Hi Maxine! Hope you like it if you do give it a go :)

I can't wait to try this. The weather this week calls for the temperature to begin dropping, thus this would be perfect sometime this week.

Do you think it would still work if I used boneless, skinless chicken breasts? Although I am sure it would be oh so much better with the skin, bones and fat...
