beltzner: see http://www.mozilla.org/community/developer-forums.html

But yes, that needs to be much more discoverable.

Better late than never. When you get back, please post your explanation (and your proposal, assuming there is one) to a newsgroup where we can actually have a threaded discussion. Actually, cross-post it and set follow-ups, because this will affect everyone. :)

beltzner - you mean this: http://www.mozilla.org/community/developer-forums.html ?

I am subscribed to over thirty Mozilla lists which, on average, get one or two messages a day. If you combined every existing Mozilla list into a single list the traffic still wouldn't equal half the traffic of the Linux Kernel or Ruby lists. Things would be much better with a small number of lists, a number less than five.

My email address is in Google well over 10,000 times. I suspect every spammer has it. I get about 400 spams a day of which my filters catch all but three or four. The problem is not as bad as people are making it out to be. Going to great lengths to hide emails discourages communication for little gain.

It might - nay would - also be useful to have some sort of newsgroup rosetta stone which lists the intent of the newsgroup. That, in combination with project pages on mozilla.org that link over to the appropriate newsgroups for discussion of said project, and we might just have communication infrastructures that are both discoverable AND approachable.
